The inside barrier and short sprint distance favour a forward showing, but the heavy track adds uncertainty.

The small field and short distance minimise variance, and the horse is expected to be competitive on debut.
Pocket Change is a long-shot debutant with little to recommend on paper beyond the trainer booking of Tina Comignaghi. In a small field, any horse can run into a place, but the winning chance is slim. Only considered for very small place interest.
Tivanova is the only runner with proven form on heavy ground, having finished 5th at Riccarton on Heavy 8. That experience is invaluable in this weak field. She rates as the best value play with solid place claims and a genuine winning chance.

Exclude made a highly encouraging debut at Wingatui on heavy, finishing a close 3rd over 1200m. With natural improvement, the step to 1300m suits and Corey Campbell retains the ride.
Lethal Roc ran her best race last time, a close 3rd over 1400m on heavy. The drop to 1300m and a favourable inside draw should see her in the finish. With trainer Dennis having a good heavy record and the horse proven on the surface, she represents a strong each-way chance.
Out Of The Picture comes off a career-best 3rd on heavy over 1600m, beaten just over a length. The step down to 1300m is a query but his finishing effort suggests he can handle it.
Launch Code has been knocking on the door with two close 3rds on heavy in his last three starts. He drops back to 1300m which could be ideal for his finishing style.

Taihoro is the most consistent runner in the field with two placings at Wingatui on heavy ground. Latest run at Riverton was a close 4th beaten less than a length, and he gets Tina Comignaghi aboard. The wide draw is a concern but he has overcome similar before. Rates as the horse to beat on pure form.
With 14 starts at Wingatui and multiple placings, she knows the course well.
Nasha Mala has proven she can handle heavy ground with three third placings. She drops to the minimum weight here from a good draw, and Sima Mxothwa is in good recent touch. Her form is consistent if not spectacular, making her a viable place chance at each-way value.
Aspen Voltage ran a massive race two back when 2nd at Wingatui on Heavy8, beaten less than a length. She failed to back it up over 1600m but returns to a more suitable 1300m today.

KB Contractors (Bm65)
Turn The Tide is a progressive 3yo filly who broke her maiden last start at Wingatui over 1200m on Heavy8. She has excellent heavy track statistics and a strong affinity for this track. Drawn well in barrier 4 with Donovan Cooper retaining the ride, she maps to settle on-pace in a fast tempo and should prove hard to run down.
The Blue Diamond broke her maiden at Wingatui over 1200m on Heavy9 last start, showing good recovery from a poor run prior. She has a strong affinity for this track and the heavy conditions. With a light weight of 53.5kg after the 3kg claim and a good barrier 7, she maps to get a nice run in transit. The class rise is the main concern, but her recent form and track suitability suggest she can measure up in this BM65 field.
Magnastar drops from BM75 grade where he has been competitive and now finds himself in a winnable BM65. His heavy track form is excellent with 2 wins and 3 placings from 11 starts, and he ran a solid 3rd at Wingatui on Heavy9 two starts ago. The wide barrier 16 is a concern but in a fast tempo race he can get cover and finish strongly.
Nobellem is a veteran 7yo mare who consistently performs at Wingatui, especially in wet conditions. She ran an excellent 2nd at this track and distance on Heavy9 last start, suggesting she is in good order. The drop from BM75 to BM65 is a significant positive, and her heavy track credentials are solid. She is the value selection.

Bakers Dozen is the clear form pick, having won her last two starts on heavy tracks including a BM75 success at this track 9 days ago. Her heavy record is strong (2 wins from 7), she gets a low weight of 54kg, and jockey Kendra Bakker has an excellent rapport. The hat-trick chance is real and she maps well from barrier 4 in a moderate tempo.
Tycoon Prince showed his class with a dominant win at Wingatui in April on a Heavy 9, leading throughout. He drops back to the same class today with a good inside draw and a strong jockey booking. The heavy track suits him well. While last start was slightly disappointing, he had excuses and maps to get a soft lead from barrier 2. Solid win and place chance.
American Cheval is a consistent performer at Wingatui with a good heavy record including a win and a third at the track.
Industrialist is a seasoned heavy-track horse with strong form in this grade, having finished second on Heavy 10 at Ascot Park last start. His heavy record is impressive with 3 wins and 6 seconds. He drops back to BM75 after competing in Open company, gets a light weight, and jockey Sima Mxothwa is riding well.

Life Of Riley is the most reliable form runner in the race, boasting consistent BM65 performances and solid heavy track stats. She placed second over 1600m at Wingatui two starts back and gets leading jockey Leah Hemi, who strikes at 23% with this stable. The only concern is her low win rate, but she maps well from barrier 11 in a moderate pace scenario and should be there at the finish. Strong win candidate.
Way Out West won impressively first-up on this track in heavy conditions, but second-up statistics are a concern with only one placing from two attempts. The drop back to BM65 is a positive, and she clearly handles the Wingatui heavy. She is still a strong place chance and likely to be in the finish.
Shawshank is a heavy track specialist returning to his preferred conditions with a class drop from BM75 to BM65. His recent fourth at Wingatui in BM75 on Heavy9 was encouraging, and his long-form shows a pattern of winning or placing on heavy ground. Jockey form is a concern but this horse runs well for any rider.
The Hares Ears has shown rapid improvement in her short career, breaking maiden at Wingatui then stepping up to BM65 and finishing second on Heavy9. She clearly handles the track and conditions, and her upward trajectory suggests she can go one better here. The lack of a jockey is a minor risk but her form speaks for itself.

Sir Sterling is the most reliable heavy-track performer in the field with a recent win on similar ground. Despite the wide draw, the moderate-fast tempo should allow him to take a handy position and finish strongly. His consistency and proven ability on heavy make him the horse to beat.
Martell is a proven heavy-track star who has won 8 races on the surface. While his last three starts have been disappointing, he drops back to a more appropriate distance and draws ideally. If he returns to his best, he can easily win this.
The Hangover comes off a gutsy win on heavy ground and gets the services of the in-form Kendra Bakker. The weight drop to 54kg is a big plus in the going, and his track record at Wingatui is solid. The class rise is a question, but he's shown he can compete at this level. Strong each-way chance.
Penvose Lad is a value play returning from a long break but has proven ability at this track and distance, having won here in January. He typically improves second-up, so if he runs well fresh he could surprise. Worth a small each-way wager.

Positive Signs + Print (Bm75)
The Boss Lady has the strongest heavy track credentials in the field, with two wins and a placing from three heavy starts, including a Listed placing behind quality opposition. First-up she has a win from two attempts, and she drops to a light weight. The barrier 1 is ideal. The main concern is a lengthy spell and first time at Wingatui, but her class and heavy form make her the clear top pick.
Where's Wally is a veteran heavy track performer with a solid record on soft ground. He ran a strong second in the key Ascot Park race on May 10, where he beat several of today's rivals. He also has a previous 2nd over this track and distance on Heavy10. Dropping from Open class to BM75 is a significant plus.
Vino Valentino has been a model of consistency recently, finishing in the top four in her last four starts, all on heavy or soft ground. She ran 4th in the key Ascot Park race, beaten less than 3 lengths. She is a proven heavy track performer and handles the distance. The lack of a Wingatui win is a concern but her current form is hard to fault. She should be in the finish again.
Go Lotte is a proven heavy track mare with a good record at Wingatui. She won on heavy just three weeks ago at Riverton, beating a similar class field.

Speight?s (Bm65)
Proudtobehere is the most compelling win chance based on recent heavy-track form. She won impressively at this track and distance on a Heavy 9 last start, and her overall heavy record (7:2-1-0) is strong. The jockey/trainer combination clicked that day and is retained. While the barrier is slightly wide, she won from barrier 9 previously. The moderate tempo should suit her finishing kick.
Strobe Light has been progressively improving and broke his maiden in style over this track and distance on Heavy 9 last time. That run suggests he can handle the class rise. Drawn the inside barrier, he should get every chance to sit on-speed and use his stamina up the long Wingatui straight. Top value for an each-way play.
Marella Miss brings the most consistent recent heavy-track form outside the top two. She ran 3rd at Riverton on Heavy 10 and then 4th at Wingatui on Heavy 9, both in BM65. She is comfortable over 1600m and has placed at the track before. The wide draw and lack of a confirmed jockey are concerns, but if she gets a good ride, she can sneak into the placings.
David Moss is a seasoned heavy-track performer who has won over this track and distance on Heavy 10. He rarely runs poorly in the wet and his last few runs at Riverton have been acceptable. He represents each-way value as a seasoned campaigner who can capitalise on the gruelling conditions.

A Mandarin is a heavy-track specialist with four wins from eight starts on Heavy ground. She won convincingly at Ascot Park over 2215m on Heavy 10 last time out. She has previously won at Wingatui over 2200m on Heavy 10 and is lightly weighted at 54kg. Leah Hemi rides well at Wingatui and has been in good form. She maps to settle comfortably and should be strong late. The class is suitable and she represents the most solid winning chance in the race.
Prince Alby is a genuine stayer with a strong record on heavy ground (6 wins) and at Wingatui (4 wins). He won a Riverton Open on Soft 5 then was a close third in the same Ascot race where A Mandarin won. That form ties in well. He drops back from Group/Listed class and should be suited by the 2200m distance. The wide draw is a concern but he has overcome similar before. Each-way value is clear.
Miss Enzed is ultra-consistent, placing in four of her last five starts. She ran second in a BM75 at Wingatui over 2200m on Soft 6 two starts back. She handles wet ground but has only one win on heavy. The big query is her low win rate and the step up in class to Open company. However, if she brings her usual honest performance, she can fill the minors.
She ran fourth in the same Ascot race won by A Mandarin, just behind Prince Alby. Her record at 2200m is excellent with four wins. She handles heavy ground and has Corey Campbell aboard who rides well at Wingatui.

Be My Guest Design (Bm65)
Flamboyance returns to BM65 after racing in BM75, and has proven winning form at this track and distance. His heavy ground statistics are solid, but a wide barrier 13 and a jockey in poor form are concerns. If able to reproduce his best, he can feature but needs some luck.
Quinto is an improving 4yo who broke his maiden over 2200m on soft and now steps up to BM65. He draws well and has a top track jockey, but his only attempt at this class resulted in a poor run. If he handles the heavy going and builds on that maiden win, he can be a place chance.
On The Rivet brings solid recent form with consecutive placings at BM65, handles heavy ground well, and has an inside barrier. While he may lack the upside of younger rivals, his consistency and track suitability make him a strong winning chance at good value in an open race.
Monte Khan has been consistent in BM65 company, with two runner-up efforts on heavy ground in his last three starts. He lacks a heavy track win but places regularly.
