Forbidden Desire drops significantly in class after competing in Open and Listed company. While untested on heavy, her soft track form is solid and she maps to be on speed from barrier 9. The class drop alone gives her a massive edge in this weak maiden.

Atella Miss is the only runner with a genuine heavy track placing, having run 2nd on Heavy10 at Moe last start. She handles wet conditions and should be in the first few positions despite the wide draw. The form through that run is solid for this grade. She represents the most reliable heavy form in the race.
Barrier 4 is advantageous at Ballarat. While heavy track debut is a test, the stable typically has them ready. Gear changes indicate intent. If she handles the conditions, she is a live chance.
Oh So Vein is a 151-1 chance but comes off a credible 3rd on Heavy10 at Hamilton. That run suggests she handles the conditions better than many here. Not likely but offers value.

Barrier 2 allows a comfortable forward position, and jockey Billy Egan has strong recent form. Against a moderate maiden field with many unproven on heavy, she presents the most reliable winning chance.
Daniel Stackhouse takes over and his strike rate with the stable is excellent. The heavy track is the main query, but her speed and pedigree (Earthlight) suggest she may handle it. A key threat if she adapts.
Red Rabbit has been consistent, with three placings from three starts, including a close second on Soft 5 at Great Western. However, the wide barrier and first-up query on heavy ground temper enthusiasm. She will need luck from the draw but has the class to feature if the heavy track doesn't pose issues.
Tan Tat Art is a Chris Waller-trained filly resuming after a spell. Her debut was a distant third on Good 3, but she may have improved. Jye McNeil is a positive booking. The heavy track is the unknown. More speculative than the top picks.

Pull My Finger is the most consistent runner with 9 placings from 12 starts. He draws ideally in barrier 2 and will be on the pace, suiting the Ballarat heavy track bias. Recent soft track form is solid (2nd, 3rd). While winless, this looks his best chance with map advantage. Jockey concerns but horse's consistency outweighs.
Astern Fight has placed in both career starts, showing consistency. Jockey Neil Farley is in excellent recent form. However, barrier 13 is a major disadvantage on heavy Ballarat, and he carries top weight with no wet track exposure. Likely to need luck from wide draw but has ability.
Barrier 1 is perfect for the inside bias on heavy at Ballarat. Andrew Noblet is a capable trainer, but the unknown is how this horse handles heavy going and race pressure.
With the benefit of that experience and a light weight, she should improve. Barrier 5 is good, and the heavy track may suit her breeding.

Dreck is the clear form horse, having placed on heavy in both career runs. The step up to 1400m suits his pattern and barrier 4 ensures a handy position.
Wolfoffitroystreet has been ultra-consistent with four placings from four starts. He returns from a spell but maps well from barrier 3. The heavy track is a query, but his soft-track form suggests he can handle it. A key threat if fit enough.
Justibella showed she handles wet ground with a third at Ballarat on Heavy 8. Wide draw is a concern but she can work into the race. Value each-way chance.
Taglow gets a significant weight drop and barrier advantage.

Manhari Hcp (62)
Dancing Dolly is the most reliable contender. She has a heavy track placing (4th at Bendigo Heavy9) and a win at Ballarat on soft. She has been consistent in similar class, and Declan Bates has an excellent record aboard her. The wide barrier is a concern but she can settle midfield and improve into the bend, matching the ideal Heavy Ballarat profile. She is the most likely winner.
He draws well and will race on-speed, which is favourable at Ballarat in the wet. The main query is whether he can see out the 1500m trip on heavy ground, as his wins have come over shorter. He is a genuine place chance but may lack the stamina to win over the extra distance.
Jawsome Rob broke his maiden in good style at Bendigo over 1500m and has previously placed on a heavy track (Bendigo Heavy9). He is improving and now gets Jye McNeil in the saddle.
Hoodys Horse returned to form with a sharp 2nd at Sandown in a Rest.66 on heavy, suggesting he is ready to win. He has also placed at Ballarat over 1500m this campaign. Genuine overlay.

Miss Deceiver is the only horse in the field with a heavy track win, and she followed up with a strong third in BM62 grade.
Bazzar has a solid consistent profile with 3 placings from 4 starts. He draws well in barrier 3 and the stable has him fresh. The heavy track is the big unknown as he has only raced on good and soft. If he handles the conditions, he can be competitive in this grade.
Dynamite Dancer brings solid wet track form with a placing on heavy and a win on soft. Barrier 1 is a major advantage on Ballarat heavy surface favouring inside draws. First query after a spell but the stable has him ready.
Our Little Star is a consistent mare who ran a strong second at this track last start. She carries just 56kg with the claim and has placed on heavy before.

Sportsbet Race Previews (Bm66)
High Tempo is the most consistent horse in the race with a 62% place rate. She settles on pace, which is a major advantage on Ballarat heavy where front three at the 400m dominate. She placed well over this track/distance last start in a BM66. The heavy track is a slight query but she has run well on soft and her form line is solid. Likely to lead or sit near the speed and be hard to run down.
He consistently places in better class and drops to BM66, making him a key contender. He ran well on heavy at Warrnambool (2nd) and should get a nice run from barrier 5. However, he hasn't won in five runs and the heavy track may blunt his finish. He is the second pick by a narrow margin.
He drops 5kg from his last start and drew barrier 2, which should allow him to race handy. He ran a strong 2nd in a BM66 on soft two starts ago. Heavy track is a slight risk but he wasn't disgraced on it last time. With weight advantage and a good map, he can run a big race and possibly upset.
Cachink is the value selection. He comes out of an Open race at Casterton where he ran 4th, then previously placed 3rd on heavy at Pakenham over 2000m. He drops to BM66 company, which is a clear class advantage. The wide barrier is a concern on heavy Ballarat but if he can settle midfield he has the stamina to finish.

Hygain Edge (Bm62)
Sacred Fort is the most proven wet-track runner in the field, with three seconds from five heavy starts. He returned from a spell with an excellent second on Heavy10 and now goes second-up where his record is strong (1 win, 1 placing).
Danzsin has proven he can handle heavy ground with a maiden win on Heavy10, before struggling in BM70 grade. Dropping back to BM62 with a good barrier draw is a positive. The 62kg top weight is a query, but his class edge and wet-track form make him a strong place chance. He should settle handy and be in the finish if reproducing his best.
Time Bandit has a win on heavy and now drops from BM66 to BM62, which is a notable class relief. Craig Newitt is in outstanding form with 5 wins from his last 20 rides. While recent efforts haven't been great, the drop in grade and a strong jockey booking could spark improvement.
