Bridie is a progressive filly who has already proven herself on heavy ground, winning a maiden on Heavy10 over 1600m before stepping up to run second in an Open at Hawera. Kelly Myers is in sizzling form and the barrier 4 allows a forward spot from which she can finish strongly.

Belles Boom arrives off a decisive Open win at Hawera over 1600m on Soft7 and has a heavy-track maiden win on his resume. The consistent gelding has been racing well all campaign and looks suited to the testing conditions. While the jockey change is a minor query, the overall form and wet ability make him a strong winning chance.
Kyanite Man broke his maiden emphatically at Otaki over this track and distance on Heavy10, finding the line well. He draws the inside barrier which is a significant advantage on this heavy surface. Leah Hemi retains the ride and the horse is lightly raced with potential for improvement. The class step is the big query, but if he handles it, he can go close.
Star Donna has only had two starts, both on Heavy, and she has placed both times – a third at Otaki on Heavy10 and a second at Waverley on Heavy9. She gets plenty of weight relief and is likely to improve over further.

Urenui is the most reliable contender on paper. He boasts a strong heavy track record with 7 placings from 15 starts and comes off an encouraging 2nd at Trentham on Heavy10. Barrier 1 is a big advantage at Otaki, allowing him to control the race from the front or sit just off the speed. His recent form trend is upward and he handles the distance well.
Knock Off is a genuine heavy track gun with 3 wins on the surface and a strong first-up record. He won impressively at Otaki on Heavy10 last year. The 61-day freshen could bring out his best, as he tends to fire fresh. However, his last few runs on better ground were disappointing and he needs to prove he can handle the class rise.
Belardo Boy is a course and distance specialist with a strong overall record on heavy going. He has won 3 times at Otaki and 8 times on heavy tracks. However, his recent form is lackluster and he faces a wide gate with top weight. The slight class drop helps but he needs to rediscover his best form.
She handles heavy ground well, has a strong record at 1600m (3 wins), and gets a huge weight pull with only 52kg. Her recent form includes a win and a third on heavy tracks, and she draws nicely in barrier 3.

Intowin (Bm75)
Rocking is a heavy track specialist who won her last start at this class. She maps beautifully from barrier 1 and has the wet-track credentials to handle the Heavy 9 surface. The main queries are the weight rise and unknown jockey, but her overall profile fits the ideal winning profile for Otaki on heavy: lightly raced, in-form, distance-proven and wet-proven.
Amazing Son is a progressive gelding who comes off an impressive last-start win. He has placed in all five heavy track runs, showing genuine wet aptitude. The class rise is a query but his trajectory suggests he can handle it.
Brigit appeals as the lightweight chance with a jockey who rides Otaki well. She won on Heavy10 two starts ago and gets weight relief today. Her last start was a failure, but she can bounce back. The distance is a slight unknown, but the 52.5kg and inside gate (barrier 6) give her a good chance at each-way value.
Sotirio is a seasoned heavy tracker with more wins on the surface than any rival. He ran well for 3rd last start at this class and maps well from barrier 4. Otaki heavy form includes a 3rd at the track in July 2025.

Tolstoy is the most consistent horse in the field with two strong 2nds at Trentham in Heavy 10. He owns an outstanding Otaki record with 3 wins from 8 starts and handles the wet well. Barrier 2 gives him every chance from the inside. The main query is the drop to 1100m, but his recent 1200m performances suggest he has the speed to cope.
Farravallo comes off a dominant win in Heavy 10 at Trentham over 1200m and is one of the most prolific wet-trackers in the field. He has placed in 67% of his heavy starts. The 1100m distance is a concern as he has never won at this trip, but the small field and light weight (56.5kg) help. He is a strong place chance and could easily win if the distance suits.
Freddie Time was last seen finishing 2nd in a Listed race at Otaki on Heavy 9. He has a excellent heavy record and wins fresh. The 97-day layoff and top weight are concerns, but he is a track and heavy specialist. First-up he has won 1 of 2. He rates as a strong place chance in this small field and could surprise if fully fit.
Caitlyns Wish is a genuine wet-track mare with 6 wins on Heavy and a 55% place rate. She ran 3rd in this exact race last year on Heavy 10, showing track/distance affinity. Her recent form is only fair but her heavy credentials are strong. She is a definite place chance with upside if she rediscovers her best.

Back Of The Bus ran a strong third in the same Listed race over this track and distance on Heavy 10 three weeks ago, beaten only 4 lengths. That form is the best recent heavy-track reference in the race. She has since been kept fresh and has the services of Lisa Allpress. The inside track bias favours prominent runners, and she maps to settle midfield with cover.
Midnight Dart boasts the strongest heavy credentials: a win and a second from two heavy starts, including a dominant win on Heavy 8 at Trentham. Draws perfectly in barrier 4 and has early speed to take up a forward position.
Sonar made an impressive debut winning on Heavy 8 at Te Aroha, showing a strong finishing burst. The form from that maiden win is untested but the manner of victory suggests a horse with natural ability. The step to Listed is significant, but Otaki on Heavy is notoriously volatile and favours the progressive type. His inside barrier and racing pattern suit the expected inside bias.
Platinum La Danse is the most overlooked runner. That form is respectable, and she now draws the fence with Kelly Myers riding in career-best form. The inside barrier is a huge advantage at Otaki, and she has the tactical speed to use it. Her heavy-track form is among the best in the field.

Brady is a lightly raced gelding with genuine heavy form, having won on Heavy10 at Woodville. He resumed with a strong 2nd at Hawera (Soft7, 1200m) and should strip fitter second-up. Kelly Myers is in hot form and the inside draw aids his chances.
She broke maiden on Heavy10 at Woodville and has placed in two other heavy starts. The inside barrier (1) is ideal at Otaki where inside draws hold an edge. Lightly raced and with a low weight, she can progress. Floor Moerman has a strong track record at Otaki (27% wins). The main question is whether she can handle the class rise, but her heavy form gives her a solid chance.
She finished her last campaign with a Maiden win and a heavy track placing. The long layoff (251 days) is a concern, but the stable is capable of producing first-up winners. She must overcome a wide barrier and a significant class rise. I prefer others on value.
Luminance is a value runner dropping from Open class back to BM65, which should suit. She has excellent heavy track credentials with four seconds from 11 heavy runs, including a close 2nd two starts back. The wide gate is a concern, but she has raced from wide draws before.

My Ferrari is the best-suited runner for conditions. He boasts two heavy-track wins, including a last-start demolition in similar grade at Trentham. From barrier 2 with only 55kg, he maps for a soft run close to the pace. He is the clear top selection.
Drawing the inside gate is a massive bonus on this rail out 5m track. Her last run in stronger grade can be forgiven, and she drops back to a more suitable level.
Amusement has hit form at the right time, running second on a Heavy 8 last time out. She gets in with a feather weight and a reasonable draw. While not as heavy-proven as the top two, her recent effort suggests she handles it well.
He maps well from barrier 5 and comes off a good third in maiden grade. The step up to Bench 65 is a query, but his recent form suggests he is ready.

Vets on Riverbank (Bm65)
Ziggy Khan is perfectly suited. She won at this track and distance on Heavy10 two starts back, then ran a strong 2nd at Trentham before that. She's in career-best form and handles heavy ground well. She maps well from barrier 9 and should be prominent.
Four Square Pete is a heavy-track specialist with two wins from three starts on the surface, including a strong BM65 victory at Trentham last time. He gets the inside barrier and should get a perfect run. The only concern is the trip from 2200m back to 2100m, but that should suit.
The Finnster comes off a gutsy win at Woodville carrying 67kg in the heavy. Despite a poor overall record at Otaki, his recent form is strong and he handles the bottomless ground as well as any. The negative jockey stats are a concern, but the horse is clearly fit and in the zone.
Opera Belle is a heavy-track marvel with a win over this course and distance on Heavy10. She has been racing in tougher BM75 grade and now drops back to BM65, which is a significant class relief. Her recent form is patchy but she's capable of a big run fresh off a 15-day break.
