Skua was an impressive debut second in Open class and now drops sharply to a country maiden. The main concerns are the long spell and no exposed form on Soft/Heavy, but his class edge gives him the highest winning chance.

Soulsease River ran a genuine third in Open grade over this course and distance on heavy ground last start and now faces maidens. The class drop is significant, but barrier 20 and lack of a win keep him behind Skua. On soft Seymour, his wet-track ability and staying finish make him the clear second pick.
Night Guard brings solid recent form from a heavy-track third at Cranbourne and picks up a strong jockey booking in Ethan Brown. He is yet to break through but is racing consistently and maps well enough.
Talkin' Stern has been the most consistent maiden in this field, placing in three of four starts and finishing a close 4th on Soft7 at Sale first-up. He strips fitter second-up, has the right 1400m profile, and John Allen's booking adds confidence. In a high-volatility maiden, his reliability makes him the clear top pick despite still being a maiden.
Justibella has been a consistent wet-track performer, highlighted by a narrow second over 1400m at Ballarat on heavy ground. She returns to her pet distance on a Soft 6 and should be charging late down Seymour's long straight. The main concerns are a wide barrier and a jockey yet to strike at this track.
Duke Of Oman was strong when second on heavy at Moe and now steps to 1400m from barrier 1.

That was a clear improvement on his debut and stamps him as the horse to beat in an ordinary maiden. The wide gate is a query, but Seymour's long straight gives him time to balance.
Invicto is the class runner of the race. He finished third in a Listed race at Caulfield as a juvenile, and although he failed on Soft 7 at his most recent outing, that was against open company. The massive class drop to a country maiden, combined with a low draw and first-time blinkers, gives him every chance to bounce back.
Whimsy Smile showed he handles Seymour's 1200m when third on a Heavy 9 track last month. That experience at the venue is a big positive in a field of lightly-raced types. Michael Dee takes over and the stable has a strong record with improving horses. The outside barrier is the obvious worry, but the even track bias and long straight reduce its significance. He should be finishing strongly and rates the clear third pick.
Captain Redbeard is a stable gamble. He is exactly the type of improving first-up maiden that can upset.

Pain Au Chocolat's debut third in Open company at Cranbourne is the strongest form reference in the field, and she drops significantly to Maiden grade. The Maher/Bates combination is a plus and Bates is in form. The main concerns are a long layoff, a very wide gate and no start on soft ground, but class and stable polish give her the edge in an open maiden.
Tommy's Lass maps best from barrier four in a soft-track sprint, and her debut second in Open company reads well. Thornton's Seymour record is a plus. The absence of soft-track form is the query, but the inside draw and fitness profile make her a genuine threat.
The tongue tie first time and senior booking suggest the stable expects a forward run. Place appeal only in a volatile maiden.
The inside barrier, first-time tongue tie, ear muffs and cross-over nose band all point to a stable ready to run well.

The clear form anchor. Eeny Meeny won his only start on heavy and then ran a solid third in a Rest.64 at Morphettville on Soft7, which stacks up well against this Class1 field. The query is the lack of depth in his form and a midfield map from barrier 9, but his overall profile is the strongest winning chance.
Castellito has the most upside of the exposed rivals. She won first-up at Kyneton and was far from disgraced on debut at Caulfield, and she now drops from BM64 to Class1 with Childs again riding. The obvious risks are the long spell and the poor second-up effort at Bendigo, so she is ranked second rather than top.
A drop from BM62 to Class1 and a favourable barrier give him every chance. The knock is that he has only one career win and his wet-track record is ordinary, so he rates as a place-oriented top-three chance.
Logam is the clear value runner. His two soft-track runs produced a win and a narrow second, including a BM64 placing at Mornington, and he should get every chance from barrier 1 on a surface that suits him. The heavy Sandown failure last time can be forgiven and he is better drawn, better weighted and back at a more suitable level.

Diego Velazquez By Frankel @ Swettenham (Bm62)
Illuminance is the most reliable winning chance. Her outstanding 1200m record, combined with a last-start narrow second in a BM62 on Heavy9, gives her a clear edge. She maps well from barrier 7, handles soft ground, and gets every chance under the light weight. The main knock is her modest overall win strike, but in this even BM62 she profiles as the one to beat.
Bardia's Dream is a proven Seymour 1200m performer and won this exact trip on Soft 6 with Lane in the saddle. Her latest fourth here on Heavy9 suggests she is primed for another bold showing. The query is consistency, but the track/distance/jockey combination gives her the second-best winning chance.
Unapproachable is a wet-track specialist who has already won a BM62 over 1200m on Heavy9. Her last-start metropolitan effort wasn't far away, and the return to a country BM62 on Soft7 is a strong fit. Barrier 4 and a low weight enhance her claims, making her a clear third pick.
Sub Gauge rates as the value runner. He has genuine soft-track credentials and won in similar country grade two starts back, while today's Soft 7 surface and barrier 6 suit.

Lubeck Plumbing (Bm62)
Omamori is the most reliable winning hope. He drops in grade, is proven on soft and heavy ground, and has placed in both starts over 2000m, including a BM66 on heavy.
Governor King won over this course and distance last start in BM62 heavy company and John Allen sticks with him. He has two wins on soft and two on heavy, and his Seymour record is excellent. The rise of 2kg is a slight concern and he can be inconsistent, but last-start course/distance form gives him a clear winning chance in a winnable BM62.
Jenny The Beaver won last start at Geelong on heavy and had placed third in a BM70 over 2000m on heavy earlier this preparation. She handles both soft and heavy, and Damien Thornton has a strong Seymour record. The step up from BM56 is a query, and her career win-rate is modest, but she maps okay and appears the next best win chance behind the top two.
She has raced well at 2100m and 2400m in BM70 grade, so 2000m is within range. The query is her poor soft-track winning record and rider's modest Seymour stats, but she is a clear top-three hope.
She is likely to roll forward in a slowly-run race and gets Zac Spain again.

Frostration is the form horse, having won three straight on rain-affected ground including a Soft7 1628m event at Donald. She is favourably weighted with 54kg and has proven wet-track credentials. The class rise is the main query, but momentum, light weight and soft-ground suitability make Frostration the most likely winner.
Annotate produced a strong closing second at this track and distance in a BM62 on Heavy9 only 19 days ago. That is the most direct form reference in the field and he now draws much better in barrier 3. He has won on Soft and placed over 1600m at Seymour previously. The 60kg impost is a concern, and his overall win rate is modest, but he rates as the principal threat to Frostration.
Kiwi Jenni has the most promising profile for this race: a Soft6 maiden win over the exact track and distance, a favourable barrier and first-time blinkers. Her last-start failure came on Heavy9, whereas today's Soft7 is closer to the ground she handles best. The step up in class from maiden company is a query, but she has the tactical speed to hold a forward position and should improve sharply.
Too Big is a specialist on soft ground with three wins from six starts on the surface and a course record of 1-0-1 from five Seymour starts.

Clear Seymour 1400m specialist with a strong wet-track profile and a favourable drop back to his pet trip. His last two 1500m runs in town are better than they look and set him up for a return to form.
Victory Tune is the class dropper, coming out of Open company into BM66. The main concern is a poor wet-track strike rate, but he has placed on Soft7 and should appreciate the easier grade. Rates the main danger to the top pick.
The Hayes stable and Jye McNeil are strong positives, but she has no form on Soft, no 1400m start, and a sizable class rise. She is a genuine winning chance but not a standout on this ground.
Princing is the most complete wet-track/distance prospect. He has won two of three attempts at 1400m and two of four on soft ground, highlighted by a last-start win in BM62 company at Sale on Soft6. He maps well from barrier 8 in a moderate tempo and has already run a close fourth in a BM66 over 1600m on Soft7. He is proven under pressure and rates the clear top pick.
Her two wins from four starts at the distance suit, while the long Seymour straight should help her unwind from midfield. The first look at the track and no soft-track win are negatives, but her latest effort suggests she handles rain-affected ground.
Doubtland Diva produced a sound fourth at Sandown over 1400m on Soft6 and has the profile to improve into this BM66. The first-time nose roll is a positive sign and the weight is workable.
