Likely to lead in a slow-run 1600m, which suits his on-pace style. The main concern is age and recent form, but in this Restricted 56 field he clearly has the best career profile and should be hard to beat.

The inside barrier and low weight make him a major chance in this grade. The quick turnaround is a minor concern, but he is fit and suited by the expected slow tempo.

Robert The Puss is a consistent gelding who rarely runs poorly but struggles to win. He has placed in three of his last six starts including a second at Mt Gambier. His draw is okay and he handles soft ground. He may need luck from the wide gate but can feature in the finish, though he is likely a place chance rather than a win threat.

His victory at Murray Bridge on a soft track over 2000m showed suitability, and he drops slightly in grade today. Harry Grace is in outstanding form and suits the mount. Ironbar is the most reliable form runner dropping sharply in class. Recent 3rd in a BM58 at Gawler on Heavy and 5th in BM56 at Strathalbyn show he's competitive at this level. He handles Soft ground and has a positive barrier. The class drop and consistent recent form make him the most likely winner despite moderate distance stats.

Chur Nibble has strong class credentials dropping from BM66 and a decent first up record with two placings. He's placed second on Soft before. However, returning from a 151-day spell over 1400m is a query, and his win rate is low.
