Northern Child is the likely leader in a slow-run staying race. He has consistent Hobart form including a maiden win over 1430m. The weight (59kg) and distance (2100m) are queries, but with a slow tempo he can dictate and be hard to run down.

Lyco Reco is an improving mare with low weight and an ideal inside draw. She ran a close second last start on synthetic over 1880m and should settle on the pace. While her win rate is low, she is consistent and the conditions suit.
Them's The Breaks has good form with a close second over 2000m at Hobart when fresh earlier this campaign. However, she is first up from a spell today and her first-up record is poor (0-0-0 from 4). The slow tempo will make it tough to come from behind.
Wholesome is a classy mare with 5 wins from 34 starts, the best win rate in the race. She has placed over this track and distance before. Her recent form is poor but the return to blinkers and a good track may spark improvement.

Upheaval has the most convincing form line, having placed on debut over 1100m at Hobart and run competitively since. He returns from a spell but has shown he can run well fresh.
Savage River has been consistent without winning, placing three times including a close second. He goes well on soft tracks and returns from a spell with a gear change. The form line is solid for this grade, but the declining pattern and poor recent jockey form are negatives. Capable of hitting the frame if fit enough.
However, the trainer's poor jockey combination record and wide barrier are concerns. In a weak maiden, he could run well fresh, but the risk is high without any evidence of ability.
Her best performance (2nd at Launceston) would be competitive here.

He ran 2nd last start at Hobart over 1200m and has placed over 1400m on Good. While the win eludes him, the consistency and class edge suggest he breaks through today.
The blinkers-on gear change could produce the needed improvement. His last start 3rd over 1600m was ordinary but the step back to 1410m suits.
The step to 1410m should suit, and Blacker's stable is reliable. The jockey change is a concern, but the horse is lightly raced with natural progression.
Up To Tori produced a career-best effort first-up over 1200m, finishing 2nd behind a subsequent winner. She now goes second-up with 1.5kg less and a low weight.

The Little Bay drops sharply in class after two excellent runs in Open and BM60 company at Hobart. He has won over this track and distance before and maps to be prominent. Despite jockey concerns, the class edge and current form make him the most likely winner.
Nandi Clan resumes second-up after a solid first-up fifth in a Class 1 at Hobart. She owns a win over this track and distance and gets the in-form Erica Byrne Burke. Expecting natural improvement second-up, making her a strong each-way contender.
Sh'bourne Power won his maiden convincingly at Launceston in March and returns from a spell. Barrier 1 is a huge advantage, and he gets a light weight. First up queries exist, but if ready, he can be in the finish.
Alpine Ruby broke her maiden at Hobart two weeks ago, winning comfortably. She steps up to Class 1 now but is third-up and likely still improving.

Momentslikethese is the clear form runner with a 5:1-3-1 record including a Listed placing at Hobart. She returns from a spell but has trialled well and drops in class from Listed to Open. The wide barrier is a concern but she has enough tactical speed to find a midfield spot.
She gets a sharp advantage from barrier 1 with a light weight, and her on-pace style fits Hobart's track pattern. The major query is turf performance, but she has good tactical speed and should handle the distance.
Valley Star is the other promising runner from the L Gaffney stable, having beaten stablemate Buzzoffski last start with a similar synthetic profile. He carries 54kg and has a good partnership with jockey Kirra-Lee Lane. Place prospects are solid.
She disappointed last start on synthetic, but second-up she historically improves (1:0-1-0 record). The wide barrier is a concern but she should settle midfield. Value play.

Designer Dreamer is the class runner dropping from BM68 to BM60, a move that should suit. The very fast tempo predicted suits his closer style, and though wide barrier 14 is a concern, he can settle back and unwind. Last start was poor but prior form includes a win and a placing over this trip. He represents the most likely winner at fair value.
Stardarmus ran well last start, finishing 3rd in a BM68 at Hobart, and now drops to BM60. He has a strong track record with four wins at Hobart and barrier 6 allows a handy position. The fast tempo should suit his pattern. Good each-way value.
Sir Jag comes off a gutsy win in a Class 2 over 1390m at Hobart. He stays at the same BM60 level but will carry top weight and has drawn wide. He has proven he can win at this track and distance, and Anthony Darmanin rides well here. The weight and barrier are negatives, but his consistency and last-start win make him a solid place chance in an open race.
Reservoir Dog is resuming but drops sharply from BM72 to BM60, which makes him interesting. He did run second in a BM68 at Launceston prior to spelling, and his 1600m record includes a win and a placing. Barrier 5 and Troy Baker aboard are positives.

Punters Club Day ? July 19 (Bm60)
She ran on well for 3rd in a CL2 last start and now drops to BM60 with barrier 4 and a good jockey. The moderate tempo and on-pace bias at Hobart suit her running style. She represents the most reliable winning chance in an even race.
First-up from a long spell is the main query, but her track/distance record and class edge make her a serious threat.
Tribal Council is a genuine Hobart performer with strong recent form including a win over this track/distance. He ran 5th last start beaten less than a length and has the tactical speed to settle handy. The wide draw is a minor concern but his consistency and track affinity make him a strong each-way prospect.
Zulu Fields is in career-best form with a win and two placings from her last four starts. She carries just 53.5kg and has the services of Chris Pang who has ridden her to victory.

Winning Edge Presentations Hcp
He's strung together four consecutive placings in Class 6 and BM76 company, and now gets an enormous weight drop of 4.5kg. He maps ideally from barrier 2, will be prominent, and the rise to Open class isn't as daunting given the moderate winter depth. The knock is an unflattering win record at Hobart and 1200m, but his recent form and weight advantage suggest today could be the day he breaks through.
Perspiration is the class runner. He's won a Listed race and competed in Group company, and his sole start at Hobart 1200m was a victory. He comes off a poor run on heavy but that was first-up; his second-up record is strong. The main concerns are carrying top weight and an out-of-form jockey, but if he reproduces his Launceston win from February he is clearly the horse to beat. He should be ridden with cover and can finish over the top.
Alvarinho is a track specialist with outstanding statistics at Hobart. She drops back from Group 3 class and handles Good ground. Drawn nicely and has a good jockey engagement. However, she returns from a lengthy spell and has been winless at black-type level. Expect her to run well but may be vulnerable fresh.
Thespian Waters is the value runner. The inside barrier gives him every chance to get a soft run, and he drops 2kg from his last start. He can run into the placings again and could surprise if everything goes his way.

Fighting Floyd won impressively over this track/distance last start, beating several of today's rivals. His record at Hobart 1410m is outstanding with 5 wins from 8 starts. He maps to settle handy in a race lacking speed, and the slight weight rise should not derail him.
Kakia is the likely leader in a slow-run race and brings consistent form from stronger company. Second-up statistics favour improvement. He is the logical danger and should give a bold sight.
Rubbleonthedouble returned from a spell with a decisive win over 1200m, showing he is in good order. He has a strong place record at the track and distance. However, his second-up statistics are concerning, making him a place prospect rather than a win certainty.
Verbano ran an honest second to Fighting Floyd last start and meets that rival 3kg better at the weights today. She has consistently placed at this track and distance and should again be in the finish.
