He is proven at the trip and on wet ground, is within the freshness window, and Kelly Myers is a reliable rider here. The obvious knock is a winless 13-start record, but in an open, upset-prone maiden he maps well and is the most likely winner.

He beat several of today's rivals clearly in their last common meeting and has genuine 1600m form, unlike many here.
Ena Sharples has the best heavy-track place record in the field, with three seconds from five wet-track starts, and she gets barrier 1 with Lisa Allpress aboard. Her last-start eighth at Waverley is a negative, and she is unproven over 1600m, but her best 1400m runs are close to this level.
He has placed in three of four starts on Heavy, including a third over 1600m on Heavy10 last time, and he has each-way claims for a stable that has clicked with Leah Hemi. A small each-way stake is the way to play him.

Sight Unseen holds the strongest form key for Hawera Heavy: a recent second placing over 1400m on Heavy10. She maps reasonably from barrier 5, is second-up, and drops to 54.5kg, while her last-start jockey stays aboard. The winless record and maiden volatility are concerns, but in this small 7-horse field her recency and suitability make her the most probable winner.
Undertheboardwalk is a clear threat. Her only Hawera start produced a close third over today's 1400m, and both first-up runs have yielded thirds, indicating she runs well fresh. The 82-day break sits against Hawera's freshness bias and she has yet to win, but stable quality, low weight and proven course form should keep her in the finish.
Rosa is the proven maiden stayer of this field. She returns quickly from a sound fourth at Wanganui on Heavy10 and has twice made the podium over 1400m on soft ground, with two Heavy seconds on her record.

Wheelitin is the most compelling form play. She won over 1600m at Hawera three weeks ago and then ran a close third in Open company on Heavy10 at New Plymouth. Jim Chung is riding well and knows the mare. The distance is the obvious concern — she has placed but not won at 1400m — yet she maps well from barrier 1 and handles testing ground.
She wasn't disgraced first-up at this track and distance and is entitled to improve second-up.
The Entertainer has the strongest distance profile in the race with three wins at 1400m and two Heavy-track wins at the trip. She is first-up after a 97-day break and her fresh record is only modest, which tempers confidence. If Thurlow has her ready, the 53kg and wet-track ability make her a genuine winning threat.
Tavis Court is the value runner. His Hawera record is outstanding — two wins and three placings from five starts, including a course-and-distance success. He was close up in a Heavy10 Open at Trentham before a strong second at Hawera, then disappointing in a Listed race last time. The main concern is the jockey's current form, with no wins from his last 20 rides.

Green Thumb Gardener (Bm75)
Amazing Son is the clear form anchor. He won over this track and distance in July and returned last week to run second in a BM75 on Heavy10 at Otaki. His heavy-track profile is strong, and the 1200m sprint looks ideal after competitive runs at 1400m. Others have more obvious queries against them.
Hey Hey Baby arrives on an upward curve, having won a BM65 over 1200m on Heavy10 at Te Rapa on July 25. That followed two placed efforts, and her heavy-track strike across 28 starts is respectable. The main concern is the rise in grade to BM75 and the untested Hawera leg, but with only 52.5kg and the inside draw she maps well.
His 1200m and heavy statistics are outstanding, and he has already won at Hawera over today's exact trip. The concern is the 100-day break and the fact his most recent campaign tailed off.
He won at Hawera two starts back and then ran fourth in a BM75 on Heavy10, so he is holding his form through the winter. His heavy record is built on placings rather than wins — 18 top-threes from 40 starts — but in a five-runner field that consistency matters.

Hawera Racecourse Dual Code Since 1911 (Bm65)
Elite Choice fits the Hawera Heavy winner profile perfectly: raced in the last week, placed in her past three starts on Heavy10, and already a 1200m wet-track winner. She drops to 53.5kg and retains Tom Wigram, who rode her to victory and a third.
See You In Beijing is the obvious form runner after a promising first-up BM65 third at Waverley and a tidy 1200m record. He must overcome 59kg, no Heavy exposure, and a 34-day gap, all against a Hawera Heavy surface that favours recent runners.
Classy Brahma is a genuine place machine with two seconds over this 1200m at Hawera and eight top-three finishes from her last ten starts. Her only concern is the 132-day break and a tendency to run placings rather than wins, although her first-up record includes a victory.
She has a Hawera 1200m win and a 50% place record on Heavy ground, and she ran a respectable fourth over this track and trip last month.

Chillco Refrigeration (Bm75)
Malachy is the clear form horse, having demolished a BM65 field over this same 2100m trip on Heavy10 eight days ago.
Stella Success has already won a BM75 over 2100m on Heavy10, and returns to that same winning formula. Her two subsequent runs were over 2200m in tougher company, so the drop back to 2100m and BM75 grade is ideal.
Identikit is a course-and-distance specialist at Hawera, with a win and a placing from two attempts over 2100m and three career wins on Heavy. She has been racing in Open company lately and now drops back to BM75, which should suit. Her recent placings are modest, but this is exactly the class and trip configuration where she can bounce back.
The Finnster is the value runner. He has strong course-and-distance form at Hawera, is a genuine wet-track stayer, and comes here fresh after a solid fifth behind Malachy in the same BM65 race last start.

La Nuova (Bm65)
Her heavy-track profile is clearly the best in the race, she returned from a spell with a solid third over 1650m Heavy10 at Waverley, and her second-up statistics include a win. Barrier 6 and 57.5kg are manageable. The knock is her low winning strike rate, but her consistency places her clearly on top.
Reconvene is a progressive 4yo who broke through on Heavy10 last start and had already shown plenty with a third in an Open 1600m at Hawera two runs earlier. His heavy-track record of 6:1-2-0 and jockey Sarah Macnab's current form add to the case. The wide draw is not a major negative on Hawera's testing surface.
Hollaback Girl is the least exposed runner and comes off a maiden win on Heavy10, with two heavy-track seconds before that. She is stepping up to BM65 company, which is the main concern, but her rapid improvement and strong trainer/jockey combination make her a live threat. Barrier 3 should allow a positive ride.
He finished a nose second in a BM65 over 1650m Heavy10 last start and owns a Hawera 1600m Heavy9 win. His heavy record of 25:1-6-7 shows he is consistently competitive in these conditions, and Chris Dell knows him well. The poor overall win rate keeps him behind the main hopes, but his profile exactly matches Hawera's heavy-track trend.
