Latin Lights has produced a clear rise in form, finishing runner-up at Geelong over 1525m and then at Grafton over 1430m on a Soft 7, beaten only a nose. Barrier one and Andrew Mallyon give her every chance to camp just behind the speed, which suits Grafton's on-pace bias. The rise to 1700m is a slight query, but her 1525m placing and natural improvement make her the most likely winner in a moderate maiden.

So Sain has knocked on the door repeatedly, finishing second in her last two starts, including a narrow second at Grafton over 1410m on a Soft 5. She should either lead or settle close enough to capitalise on the Grafton track bias. The 1700m query and 0-from-16 record temper confidence, but she rates clearly the main danger.
Fabulous Fiano is the natural front-runner and can use Grafton's strong on-pace bias to his advantage. His latest fourth at this track over 1730m on a Soft 7 showed he can sustain a lead at the trip, while his pedigree suggests stamina for 1700m. He is ranked third on map control and positive ride, not on proven finishing ability.
Turpin's Torment is the proven course-and-distance specialist, having placed five times from 13 starts at Grafton over 1700m. His second at this exact trip on July 19 and a strong third over 2010m last start suggest he is still competitive in this grade. He will need luck from a backmarker position, which is a concern on a track that favours on-pace runners.

He has already demonstrated he handles the track and gives every indication the rise to 1200m will help.
He was then tested at 1300m and tired, but the return to 1200m with barrier one is a major positive on Grafton's leader-friendly surface. Expect him to take up a forward position and prove harder to run down in a genuinely run maiden.
She has previously placed over 1200m on a soft track and is drawn to settle closer today. The query is her overall win rate, but her consistency and suitability to conditions make her a clear place chance behind the top two.
Prestige Exotic ran respectably on debut at Grafton on a Soft 7 surface, finishing fourth after racing in midfield. That track experience is valuable in a maiden full of debutants and lightly raced horses. The rise to 1200m should suit and he maps well from barrier six.

Tectonic Plate For The Kosciuszko Plate (C1)
She also won her maiden at Grafton, which gives her course affinity. However, she has not won on soft and is stepping up to 2200m for the first time. Against a rival already proven over this exact trip and surface, she rates second rather than top selection.
He now jumps from barrier 1 instead of barrier 8, which should help him settle closer and give himself every chance. His soft-track record is sound, and he is the safest third-string option behind the top two.
Junostar has the strongest evidence profile in the race, having just won this exact C1 2200m event at Grafton on Soft5, beating Righteous and Ayasaki. She is proven at the trip, track and going, and should improve again as a lightly raced 4yo.
He finished third in the same race won by Junostar and Righteous last start and was not fully tested when held up near the 600m. His two runs at 2200m have both produced thirds, and he is proven on soft going at Grafton.

Petticoat For The Kosciuszko CB (Bm58)
Miss Trump showed above-average ability when winning her Maiden on a soft track first-up. The 37-day gap between runs should not hurt, with top jockey Ben Looker retaining the ride. While her sample size is small and she is untested at Grafton, her upside and race map clearly outweigh those concerns.
Kate's Tiara returns to a suitable BM58 after finishing a close third in a BM66 over 1025m at Grafton on a Soft 7. The main risk is her racing pattern, settling near the tail in a sharp 1000m race, where Grafton history does not favour backmarkers. Still, her class and recent soft-track form make her a clear top-three contender.
He is an on-pace runner who should be able to hold a forward spot from barrier 4 and take advantage of the strong tempo.
Barrier 12 is the obvious concern but she has enough early speed to secure a position.

Considered For The Kosciuszko Hcp (C1)
Occupation is the clear winning chance. His form has built through a Grafton second, Coffs Harbour third and decisive Murwillumbah maiden win over 1550m on Soft 6. The step to 1600m is the logical next move, and barrier 4 gives him options from midfield or back. The query is the rise to Class 1 and Turner’s poor Grafton record, but the horse’s upward trajectory and last-start margin give him an edge over this field.
He has the best 1600m credential of the main hopes, finishing second on a Heavy 9 at Nowra and fourth at Gosford on Soft 5. Since his Port Macquarie maiden win he came out and ran a strong second in a Restricted 58 at 1540m on the Poly. Barrier 2 and a midfield position fit the expected even tempo, making him a strong place candidate and a winning threat.
Sunset Trail has to be respected after leading throughout to win his maiden at this course on a Soft 7. He is tactically suited to Grafton and the 1600m should not be beyond him, though it remains the major unknown. This is a stronger race and he is likely to be hunted by several handy types. His chances rate below Occupation and Kharif on overall form, but he is the clear third pick.
Predict The Future is the value runner. His last Grafton effort saw him control a Class 1 from the front and only surrender in the final strides, beaten a neck. That form reads well against today’s rivals, and the extra ground at a low 54kg is worth exploring. He has genuine heavy-track ability and a clear on-pace map.

Band Of Brothers For The Kosciuszko (Bm58)
Hayley's Rocket is the most reliable winning chance based on form. She has won a Grafton BM58 on Soft5 and followed it with a narrow second in the same grade on a wet track. Her on-pace style suits the Grafton layout, and she should offset the awkward draw by rolling forward under a strong local rider.
His recent form through Open and BM66 company is clearly superior to a country BM58, and his last-start 6th was better than it reads after being held up. The negatives are the 62kg topweight and lack of a 1200m win, so he needs a trouble-free run. If Brandon Lerena gets him into the race earlier, he can outclass these.
The inside barrier and ability to race handy are ideal for Grafton. However, her one-win record and failure to place on Soft keep her below the top pick.
She has proven ability on rain-affected ground, including a BM58 win on Heavy10, and her overall Soft record is strong.

Tabulam Cup 3 October (Bm66)
Satin And Cash won over 1400m at Grafton in July and had already run a close fourth in a Grafton BM66 on Soft 5. The trip, light weight and known course form give her the strongest overall case.
He has already won on Soft 5 and should sit on the speed from gate 4, which is the preferred pattern at Grafton. The main query is the rise to BM66 at a new track, but his momentum makes him a major threat.
His 1400m record is strong, he has won at Grafton, and barrier 1 should allow him to use his natural speed.
He's A Copy Boy is a genuine Grafton performer with three wins and three placings from 11 local starts. He won a BM66 here in July and followed that with a close second in an Open 1400m at Casino. He now drops back to BM66 grade at his home track, and the expected strong tempo should bring his late finish into play.
