She has won fresh before, draws to sit just off the two leaders from barrier 3 and the compressed weight scale blunts the top weight.

Her Coonamble maiden win was outstanding for this grade, but she has since failed twice at Class 1 level, has no wet-track form and her rider has a poor record at the track.
Elderberry Wine is the quickest away in the race and Wellington rewards horses who lead or sit in the first three. The wide draw is the concern over 1100m, but she is fast enough to cross and Gallagher knows the track.
Hard Choice is the overlay in the race. He won at this track on Soft 5 when second-up last time in, doing it the hard way from a wide draw, and he is second-up again today with a strong finishing effort under a big weight over 800m under his belt. He maps to sit outside the leader on a track where forward runners dominate.

Redfern Heavy Diesel Mdn Plate
Forwarding has been the most consistent performer in this field on rain-affected ground, placing at his last three and going down by a nose at Mudgee on a Heavy 8. He gets a good draw and a rider who knows him. He needs to be closer than usual, but his last start showed that is possible.
Regalade's Narromine run over this distance on a wet track was the standout effort in this field when the tapes went up, and he did it racing wide without cover. The draw is the issue: barrier 12 at Wellington over a mile has a poor record, so he will either have to be used early or take his chances back. Gallagher knows the track well, and the horse has enough quality to win this if he finds a spot.
Kojak's Queensland form on Soft 5 tracks, including a close second over 2200m and a third at Ipswich, is stronger than most of what these have done. His Dubbo flop last start came over a distance far too short with a slow start and rail contact, so it can be forgiven. From barrier 1 he should get a clean run in midfield, and the mile on soft ground will suit better than the sprint.
Prince Of Steel is the overlooked runner. His Narromine effort over this trip on a wet track and his Dubbo run on a Heavy 8 were both close to a winning standard, and he raced handy in each. The Mendooran flop on firm ground looks like a track-condition issue rather than a class one.

Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Mdn Hcp
Blind Squirrel has won her last two trials on wet tracks, including a Soft 5 win at Gosford two weeks ago, and draws the rails with the sharpest early speed in the field. Her one race failure was a year ago and can be forgiven. The jockey record at the track is the main concern.
Still the clear second pick for those looking to include her.
Simply Sonnet is the forgotten horse of the race. Her Newcastle sixth over 900m against a much stronger provincial field was a sound effort, and she now drops back to a country maiden with a light weight and a draw that lets her settle handy. Wet ground is unproven but the trial on soft was encouraging.
It's Our Turn ran better than his sixth placing reads on debut at Narromine, working home strongly on heavy ground behind horses that had a big head start. He has now had a race under his belt, gets a good draw and a likely fast tempo from two leaders that should bring him into it late.

Cosmic Jinks has been racing in much deeper company than this, including the Wellington Boot here on a Soft 5 where she was beaten under four lengths, and she ran to a winning standard at Muswellbrook on soft ground in the autumn. Her last-start fade came from over-racing in front; from the wide draw she should settle and be ridden for one run.
The most consistent horse in the field at this trip and on this type of surface. Tampa Bay was beaten a nose at Narromine on a Soft 7 over 1100m and ran to a winning standard when second at Forbes, and she maps to sit handy from a good gate, which is where Wellington winners come from.
Evaluated by proxy as a first starter. The inside draw and light weight help. However, she has taken a long time to reach the races, her rider is in a quiet patch, and she may need to come from behind on a track that favours forward runners.
Tucklan was badly disadvantaged at Dubbo after a poor start and a trip wide without cover, and before that her soft-track efforts at Narromine and Coonabarabran were both competitive in similar grade. She has the early speed to be on the pace from a good gate, and Clayton Gallagher's strike rate at Wellington is a big plus.

J.R Richards & Sons (Bm58)
His Narromine run on heavy-ish ground, when he led and was nabbed by Dusty Vermeer, was a winning-standard effort, and his consistency is the best in the race. The knock is that he keeps running placings rather than winning, and he can wander in the straight. From barrier 2 he will be in the perfect spot on a forward-biased track and should be hard to keep out of the placings.
He bounced straight to the front at Dubbo and never looked like being caught, producing the best recent run in this field, and he gets the same scenario here: low draw, tight track, forward bias and only Snow Dog to share the lead with.
Way To Divine is the wet-track specialist of the field with three soft-track wins and a placing in three of four visits to this track and distance.

Allendale Merino Stud (Bm58)
Her Tamworth second was a genuine winning-standard performance while leading on soft ground, and she has already won at Wellington over 900m. Barrier 1 lets her hold the rail and control a race on a track where leaders win at a high clip.
Denman Force is the horse in the field with the strongest Wellington credentials, having won a stronger Bm66 sprint here over 900m on a Soft 5 while leading. His recent runs have been plain but the Narromine race saw interference at the start and he maps to sit just off the leaders here.
Pattera is a genuine speed horse in winning form, coming off a Mendooran victory and a good effort at Cowra in July. He has placed twice at Wellington over 900m and handles soft going.
Emphatic Bel is an overlay on a Soft 5 at Wellington. Every one of her wins has come on rain-affected ground, she gets in with 55kg and maps to sit third behind the leaders. Her Gilgandra run in August was better than it looks after racing wide, and the Mendooran failure can be forgiven as she hung out and was carried wide.

LSS Locksmith And Security Hcp (C1)
His Forbes flop had a legitimate veterinary excuse and his last-start second in this grade showed he can finish off too. The one concern is a low win strike rate, but with a leading Wellington jockey aboard he is the clear one to beat.
He drops in weight, draws inside and is trending upward. The concern is his running style: he settles midfield-to-back and Wellington rarely rewards that pattern, and a poorly-performing jockey doesn't help.
Puissance Power fits the winning profile at Wellington: forward runner, mid draw, soft-track winner at the trip. His Tamworth maiden win over this journey on a Soft 5 was tidy, but the Moree failure last start, where stewards questioned his recovery, is a genuine query and the maiden form was not strong.
Broadcast Boogie is the each-way value. She has been consistently placing, including a narrow second carrying big weight in open company, and now drops to Class 1 with a feather weight. Her running style and modest wet record count against her in a race where forward runners hold sway, and she is a habitual placegetter rather than a winner, which is why she isn't in the top three.

KFC Wellington Country Boosted (Bm66)
The form horse of the race. Chicken Legs has finished 2-2-1-3 at his last four, winning under 68.5kg at Cobar and then placing in a Bm66 cup from barrier 12.
Hanuman draws the rail, is the quickest beginner in the race and led throughout to win on a Heavy 8 over this trip last start. Wellington on soft rewards leaders and he has won here before.
Light Infantry is honest rather than exciting. He sits handy from barrier 4 with the leading rider at Wellington aboard, handles soft ground and ran well last start over a short course.
Second up is his best time, he handles soft ground, and from barrier 5 he should be sitting right on the speed where Wellington winners come from. He has run well at this level before and rider Zoe Hunt knows him well.
