The Cellist maps to sit just off the lone leader Coachella Lass in a slow-tempo race, which is precisely the profile that wins the Wodonga mile.

Fierce Ruby actually finished in front of The Cellist last start and now draws better (barrier 2) at the same weight, so she has a genuine claim on the form. The concern is whether the Wangaratta run was a one-off after two very poor efforts, and the jockey booking is weak on the numbers.
Lune Lumineuse has shown consistency and wet-track competence in two starts and has the staying pedigree to relish 1590m. Forward tactics last start indicate the stable is happy to be on speed, which suits Wodonga.
Andauto is the map horse in this race: barrier 1, will settle third behind the leader, and both his recent placings came when racing handy.

Tommy's Lass has the best form in this Maiden by a clear margin, with her Morphettville second and both Seymour efforts well above what the rest of the field has produced. She races handy, which is the winning pattern at Wodonga, drops to 55kg and gets back onto a Good surface.
Brenin is the obvious map horse, drawing to lead from gate 4 on a track where on-pace runners dominate. His last start at Bendigo with blinkers on was a big step forward, leading and going down narrowly. The question is whether he sees out 1400m, having faded badly over this trip at his debut, but he was raw then and the gear change looks to have sharpened him. A strong each-way chance if he gets an uncontested lead.
Bloomin' Rich is the unknown of the race. Against a field of largely exposed and winless maidens, an unexposed colt is a legitimate chance.
The Echuca flop last start carries a legitimate excuse (lost plate, vet certificate). The concern is the map from gate 12 at a track that punishes backmarkers, but he has shown at Pakenham over this trip on Good ground that he can be positioned midfield.
Skilled Sailor is the value runner. He is an exposed maiden with obvious flaws, but his Wangaratta third over 1400m was the strongest recent performance in this field and came when he was ridden forward, exactly the pattern that wins at Wodonga. He has the most early speed here and can take a spot behind Brenin.

The form horse. Snitzel Tycoon has been placed at every start, ran to a winning standard at Wagga last time in a stronger Showcase maiden, and now drops in grade with a featherweight. She has the early pace to take a trail behind the lone leader on a track that punishes backmarkers.
Her earlier runs would be good enough here. But she has never placed, has not raced since April and is mapped further back than ideal at a track where the winners come from on the speed.
Polytelis did plenty right on debut at this track, overcoming a slow start and a three-wide run to finish second, and should improve for the experience. She maps forward with a light weight, which is where Wodonga sprints are won. The concern is that the race she placed in was slowly run and she picked up beaten horses, so the form is only moderate in real terms. A sound each-way play as the third pick.
Our Inheritance is the only horse in the race that wants to lead, and Wodonga's short straight rewards horses that get to the front and dictate. Her debut at Ballarat was solid until she tired late, and she gets a good jockey in Blaike McDougall today.

Baxters Concrete (Bm62)
Form-based top pick. Back to country Bm62 second-up (1:1-0-0) she is the horse with the strongest wins-per-start profile and best trajectory.
Stable and map are the attractions. A Hayes-trained mare who won her only start and then won a Flemington jump-out arrives at a country Bm62 with genuine early speed from a good gate, and on-pace runners have a strong edge here. The negatives are the weak jockey/stable strike rate, no Good-track exposure and the class jump off a single maiden win.
The problem is the map: he gets back and Wodonga sprints punish that, while his 2 wins from 17 profile marks him as a placegetter. The weight drop and senior rider help.
With only one genuine leader (Divazou) mapped, he should sit outside or behind the leader from barrier 9 and be strongest late.
Divazou is the race's natural leader from an inside gate on a track where the front runner is heavily favoured, and he has placed in half his first-up runs. If he gets an uncontested lead at moderate tempo he can hang on for a placing at worst.

Café Borellas (Bm56)
Aka Daka is the form horse. Four consecutive top-four finishes at BM56 with a narrow defeat last start after racing wide show he is ready to win. The 62kg is the main query, but he has carried it in every recent start.
Star Royal ran second at this track and trip a fortnight ago, leading from the 800m and only run down late by half a length.
Hotei Senshi has the most upside in the field on class — a BM62 placegetter dropping to BM56 with Billy Egan aboard from barrier 3 — but he is a midfield-to-back runner on a track where backmarkers win under 3% of mile races, he carries 62kg, and his last two runs were poor regardless of excuses.
He draws the inside, maps to sit fourth behind a moderate tempo, and has a rider who wins nearly one in five at Wodonga. His distance form is solid — a 1590m win and two placings around a mile — and a trial win four days ago with new gear confirms fitness and stable intent.

Picklebet Home Of Top 4 Betting (Bm56)
The form leader once the Good 4 surface is factored in. Brutify and More Highs On Me have never raced on a Good track, while Hustle is 4:1-2-1 on Good with a BM56 win over 1459m and a BM62 placing at 1400m.
The most reliable recent form in the race after winning this grade at this track 14 days ago with a tough wide run. She is 4 starts for 2 wins and 2 seconds at Wodonga and maps handy, which the track statistics strongly favour.
The case for her is the map - she leads on a track where front-runners dominate, and if Steve's Way (no jockey listed) is scratched she may get an uncontested lead.
A progressive Payne-trained gelding whose blinkers-on maiden win at 1400m on Good 4 was emphatic, with a settling position of 4th and a solid last 600m. Billy Egan has a 30% strike rate for the stable and is 2 from 2 at Wodonga.

Dyson Group (Bm56)
Her last-start all-the-way win at Pakenham showed she can control a race, and the moderate tempo rationale points to an uncontested lead.
Two wins on Heavy tracks, including at Wodonga, show ability at this level, and the Egan/Payne booking is a strong intent signal. She raced handy last start and will be in a forward position, which suits the track.
From barrier 4 he can press forward to sit behind or alongside Yellowknife, exploiting the on-pace bias.
Bella Katelyn is a lightly raced mare with the bottom weight, an inside draw and enough early speed to sit handy, which is exactly the profile that wins at Wodonga sprints.
