Only three starts in, he is still on the up and an in-form rider stays aboard. The concern is the map - he concedes a start and Beaudesert's mile is unkind to backmarkers - while 1650m is new territory.

Mahmoa has been a model of consistency, placing in three of his last four including a closing second at Toowoomba, and he looks the one most suited by race shape. He jumps and travels on the speed, exactly where you want to be over the Beaudesert mile, and his staying pedigree suggests 1650m will suit. Barrier 10 is the main query.
Too Mars showed plenty on debut, recovering from a check near the 1000m to run on stylishly over 1430m at Grafton, and she trialled well at this track. As a three-year-old filly she carries only 54kg, a handy edge against the older geldings. She has to step to 1650m and will settle off them, so she needs the race to unfold favourably.
He jumps, travels and can lead, which is the place to be at Beaudesert, and his best effort came when he led and fought on at 1400m. He is race-fit, carries a light weight and trialled soundly. Dry-track form is plain and he has weakened when asked to stay, so he needs to dictate at a moderate tempo.

Men Matter 24 Oct (Bm65)
Consistent mare who has placed in more than half her starts and won nicely first-up this campaign when leading over 1200m. She then ran a fair race stepping up in trip at Ipswich. Drawn ideally in three, she should lob into the box seat behind the speed, the place to be at Beaudesert. The query is the mile, but her staying pedigree suggests she gets it. The only knock is that she has never won on a good track.
Progressive five-year-old, second-up from a spell and improving with every run. He fought on strongly to win his maiden at Ipswich last start and had shown he can run well over a mile in a maiden last spring. He settles handy and gets a good draw, so he maps well at a track that suits on-pace runners. The big question is the sharp rise from maiden grade to this level.
Front-runner who has been runner-up at his last two starts when leading, including a smart second at Ipswich. He should find the front again and Beaudesert heavily rewards horses on the pace, so he is a live chance. The knock is the draw, jumping from nine and having to work across, and he has never raced beyond 1400m, so seeing out the mile is a real unknown.
A nine-time winner who has been mixing it in far stronger races, including open handicaps, he now drops to a winnable grade. He has won at this track and trip before and his recent runs stack up with the best here.

XXXX Hcp (C4)
Consistent mare who won her most recent start over this trip and has already won here over 1200m. She lands the inside gate and races right up on the pace, which is exactly what this track demands, and she drops a stack of weight from her last win. Her recent clock work reads the strongest in the field. The only real query is a step up in grade from a country BM62, and a record that features more seconds than wins.
He settles handy which is the right place to be here, and his best effort is the strongest single run in the race.
A track and distance winner who should race handy from a good gate and carries very little weight. She has a solid record at 1200m and a healthy winning strike rate for her experience. The knock is the step up from country BM62 level, and her most recent outing was plain.
He has a strong record on good ground and at this trip, and he maps to settle handy enough from the middle of the line to be in the contest. The unknown jockey booking is the main reason he is not higher in the list.

TAB Beaudesert Cup 21 Nov Mdn Hcp
The clear form pick. Both of her placed runs in stronger company were run to a winning standard and she has raced only three times, so there is upside to come. Barrier 1 is exactly what you want for a Beaudesert sprint and she can settle third behind what should be a genuine speed, then strike late. Recent trials say she is forward enough. Short, but clearly the one to beat.
Genuine speedster who maps to lead from gate 3. Second-up from a spell, his last start at Ipswich over 1200m was a much improved effort where he led into the straight and was beaten under two lengths. The knock is a second leader cutting at him and the fact he has never placed.
He resumes after a long break and both previous fresh runs produced seconds, so he clearly goes well when rested. Drawn to sit right on the speed, which this track rewards.
His third at Ipswich over this trip on a good track was run to a winning standard and came from off the pace, which is exactly what the likely fast tempo here will reward. He gets a rider with a strong record at Beaudesert and a stable going well.

Beaudesertraceclub.com Mdn Hcp
She has mixed it with much stronger city maidens, leading and sticking on for third at Doomben before a smart trial win. Dropping into an ordinary country maiden, drawn to be right on the speed on a track where leaders and handy runners dominate, she looks the one to beat.
She keeps running honest races in stronger city maidens and maps to sit handy from a good draw, so she should be in the finish again. The knock is that she has had ten goes and keeps finding one or two better, and she is stepping to 1100m for the first time. Second most likely winner, but a place result looks the safer play.
The concern is her racing style: she gets back and needs luck, and Beaudesert sprints strongly favour on-pace runners.
He resumes off a lengthy break but showed real dash in two Toowoomba maidens earlier on, going down narrowly over 1200m. With his early speed he can be prominent from gate eight, and he has placed fresh before.

Drawn the prized inside gate at Beaudesert, where the 1100m sprint is all about being handy and saving ground. He has been consistently close at this level, including a third over the trip and a narrow fourth at Kilcoy. Handles the good surface and is well known to his rider. The knock is a poor winning strike rate, but he maps perfectly and should be in the finish.
He finishes his races off.
A natural on-pace runner who should lead from gate five, and that is exactly the profile that wins these Beaudesert sprints. He drops back to 1100m after longer trips, has been freshened with a trial win and his early speed is a genuine asset. The risk is that he does not finish strongly, so he needs to control the race rather than be pressured.

He drops out of stronger races where his recent placings were full of merit, and he is proven at this trip on good ground. He gets a lovely midfield draw and a rider going well. The one query is that he needs the race to unfold to his liking, but his closing strength should carry him past most of these.
Drops back in grade after a plain run in stronger company and returns to a track where he has been effective, including at this trip. From barrier four he should get a soft run just off the pace. The knock is his second-up record and a quiet fresh effort, but the class drop and track form make him a genuine place hope.
Maps perfectly from barrier one with the early speed to hold a forward spot, which is exactly what Beaudesert rewards. She has run well here and at this trip, finishing close up in similar grade two starts ago.
Two starts back he led throughout for an easy maiden win.

Beaudesert Raceday 24 Dec Hcp (55)
Beaten narrowly in each of his last three starts, including a nose defeat over this trip at Beaudesert and a head defeat at Toowoomba, and he won at 1400m the start before those. Draws barrier three and maps to settle just off what shapes as a fast early tempo, exactly where this track rewards runners. The clear one to beat.
Resumed with a solid third in a stronger race at the Sunshine Coast, settling handy, and now drops into this grade second-up, a stage of the preparation at which she has won before. Her on-pace style suits Beaudesert's leader-friendly profile and the rider has a strong record here.
Maps to settle in the first half dozen from a good gate and the track's on-pace lean suits him. Hard to see him winning but he should be in the finish.
Aged campaigner who worked home well for sixth in a stronger race last start and now draws a soft inside gate at a track where forward positions are strongly rewarded. With three speedsters in the field the tempo should be hot, which plays to his grinding style.

Top pick on form. He won impressively at Warwick last start, leading and finding plenty, and two runs back closed hard for second at Ipswich over this trip. He has the early speed to settle handy from gate eight, which suits a track that rewards on-pace runners with its short straight. The only real query is a jockey yet to ride a winner from her recent rides.
Second-up and forgiven a plain last start where he was slowly away. Two runs back he was beaten a whisker over 1400m on a heavy track, and he has a win from three second-up attempts. Drawn well in gate six, he maps to sit close to the speed.
He has never raced beyond 1200m and is drawn out in gate 17, leaving him to get back and come wide on a track where the short straight makes it tough for closers.
She is a track-and-distance winner at Beaudesert and her second over 1800m two starts back was a strong staying performance. She gets the inside gate and her form at this trip reads well enough to be competitive.
