The wide barrier and back-of-the-field alignment are the only query, but the raw ability looks well clear of this maiden field, justifying favouritism.

Symon Wilde and Dean Parker combine for a big strike rate together, and everything points to another forward showing. The query is race shape - she settles off the pace at a track that rewards on-pace runners - but the ability looks strong enough to overcome it.
Eight runs without a win is a slight concern, but the upward trend in her form makes her hard to rule out for a top-three finish.
Pitman rounded up his rivals nicely last start at Hamilton to record one of the better closing efforts in this field, and he backs that up with useful trial form since.

Graham's Cleaning Supplies Hwt (Bm70)
Octahedron has strung together one of the strongest form lines in the race, racing right up to a good level at Mt Gambier and winning twice below today's grade before that. His inside gate suits a track that clearly favours on-pace runners in staying races, and he handles rain-affected ground.
He was competitive at a notably tougher level last start over almost this same trip and now gets clear class relief. The stable and rider combination is among the best represented at this meeting. Limited experience is the only real query, but the upward trajectory is hard to ignore.
Matthew Mark was narrowly beaten in almost this identical race last time out and looks the most likely leader in the field, a running style that this track rewards heavily in staying races. He also has a strong record on rain-affected ground. The worry is his wide barrier draw, a group that has struggled to produce winners here previously, but his course form and tactical speed offset much of that risk.
Smokin' Rohie has been racing to a strong standard without getting the reward of a win, including a placing in almost this same race last preparation. He copes well with rain-affected ground and is fresh off a break that has previously suited him.

Tuscan Rose is the clear form horse. She led all the way at Warrnambool last start and was beaten only a short margin in a maiden plate, on a similar surface. The run was the best of any runner in this field.
Thermic has been consistent in trials and jump-outs, finishing in the first three in most of them, including a narrow second at his latest hit-out. The stable is in top form, the jockey and trainer combination has a good record, and the barrier is well placed.
Vulcana comes with strong connections and the ideal rail draw, and her jump-out third on Good ground a week ago shows she is fit. With no race history she must be judged on stable and draw, and both are positives.
Stark Varg's latest run was clearly his best to date, finishing much closer to a strong field after being slowly away at his previous outing. The improvement looks genuine and he has a capable rider aboard, but barrier nine is a real obstacle at this track and he's still to record a placing.
Lomu has been knocking on the door with three straight top-three finishes and a strong record when the track is soft, exactly today's conditions. She gets a workable barrier and looks capable of racing handy in a moderately run affair. The concern is a stable and rider both short on recent winners, but the horse's own form is the standout, warranting solid each-way interest.
Rose Milla won a jump-out and then ran third, and she comes from one of the best Warrnambool stables with a top local jockey. She looks the best value in the race.

Matthew Williams Racing Mdn Plate
Cool Aza Breeze keeps knocking on the door, with three placings from five runs while racing handy each time. She's proven on soft going, draws the rail which suits her forward style, and Warrnambool's pattern strongly favours leaders and on-pace runners over closers.
Mr Cicconi brings a strong trial profile into his debut, including a recent win right here at Warrnambool on a comparable soft surface. His trainer has a strong record at this course, and the inside gate should let him track into a handy spot. Untested in an official race, but the local trial form and good barrier make him a leading hope in an open maiden.
Tikiela's latest run stands out as the best on-the-clock performance of any runner in this race - second at this same track and distance, beaten only narrowly. She's been building all campaign, draws a workable barrier, and her forward racing style suits a track that rewards leaders.

Mona's Concrete Pumping (Bm62)
Won his last outing at this same track, trip and grade, unwinding off a handy run to score, and he owns a genuine record in rain-affected ground with multiple wet-track placings. He steps back to a milder surface than his last heavy-track win but should still be suited.
This experienced mare was doing her best work late when third at this track just over a week ago, beaten less than a length, and she quickly backs up in a race that should suit. Her record at Warrnambool is strong for minor placings, and she has a capable rider aboard who knows the track well. She hasn't won for some time, but her current form is trending the right way and she looks well placed to go one better.
Racing in deeper company for his past two starts and running well without breaking through, he now gets a genuine class drop into this grade. The wide barrier is a query, but barrier trends at this track have shown no clear pattern recently, and he has enough tactical speed and finishing power to overcome the draw.
Her two recent flops both came when the track turned heavy and she failed to handle it - different conditions from today's forecast soft going. Drawn to get a nice run and only rising slightly in class, she looks overs given how well she matches up with today's conditions.

Fabriweld Constructions (Bm62)
Nordic Strike has been racing to a high standard, running narrowly beaten placings at this grade and one above it in his past two genuine starts. With only a couple of confirmed leaders in the field and a fast pace expected, his ability to track the speed and produce a strong finish suits the way this race looks like unfolding.
Fileeta comes into this off a smart win at the same class and distance, ticking every box for a repeat performance. Her good barrier lets her get across into a forward position again, and her limited wet-track form reads well. She may have to work harder than last start if the speed is genuine up front, but she has the credentials to be right in the finish.
She drops back into a suitable grade with a top rider aboard and looks the horse to beat, though the extended break since her last official start (bridged only by jump-outs) is worth noting.
Romantic Miss brings more raw ability than most of this field, with black-type placings on her resume and a past win at this exact track, distance and grade. Her latest run in tougher company only three weeks ago, on a similarly wet track, was solid.

Sungold Milk (Bm62)
Thoughtful arrives in the best form of his campaign, winning his last two and placing in nearly every start this preparation, with a strong record in wet conditions. He gets a good barrier to sit off a race that should be run hard early, setting up perfectly for his turn of foot. The main query is his rise from lower grade handicaps into this tougher open company, but his recent racing pattern suggests he is more than capable of making the transition.
Hill Cry has an outstanding record at Warrnambool over this exact distance and was last seen winning at the track in this same grade. She backs up quickly, which the stable clearly likes doing with her, and her midfield draw should keep her out of trouble in a race with plenty of speed on offer.
Crossoverkid draws the perfect barrier for a staying race on this circuit and continues his remarkably consistent pattern of minor placings, including a narrow defeat last start at today's grade on rain-affected ground. He has been freshened up, which has previously suited him. The obvious knock is that he is still searching for his first win, but his placing strike-rate and ideal draw make him hard to leave out of the placings.
Haiiro's underlying record is one of the strongest in the field on a wins-and-places basis, and he has already shown he can compete at this grade with a competitive run at Stawell. He gets the ideal inside barrier and has a genuine record on soft ground.

Matko Hire (Bm62)
Proven on rain-affected tracks and well placed with a leading Warrnambool trainer, she rates the most likely winner.
He is proven on today's soft going and his on-pace racing style should suit a track that rewards handy runners.
A progressive, lightly raced type who already holds a win at today's track and distance. The main query is whether he has enough experience for this grade, but the upside outweighs that risk.
A genuine course specialist who has been racing consistently well at this exact track and grade, placing at his last two Warrnambool starts. He is a proven performer on soft ground and his handy racing style should suit a moderately run race.
