He finished third in a stronger race at Rosehill last time and is unbeaten in two starts at this track and distance, having won here previously with more weight. Top weight and a slight class rise are the knocks, but he's the one they all have to beat.

Barnson Tamworth (Bm82)
A progressive mare who has won four of her last six, including her last two over this trip at Tamworth. She jumps quickly and should sit handy in what shapes as a slowly run race, and she gets in light. The obvious query is a sharp rise in grade from easier company, but she is improving and rates a major threat.
An experienced campaigner who won well here last start in stronger company and now drops in grade. He is a wet-track specialist and produced a big finish last time. The worry is a slowly run staying race, which may leave him too far back to round up the leaders, but his class and last-start quality keep him in the mix.
A consistent on-pacer who saves his best for this course and trip, having run second on soft ground here last month. Barrier one should see him sit handy in a race that looks likely to be run at a modest gallop, which suits.

92.9 Tamworth Mdn Plate
The most reliable horse in the race. He was only run down late over this track and trip last start after making the running, and his two runs before that were narrow placings in better maidens. He maps to race handy in what looks a slowly run contest, which is a plus at Tamworth.
A lightly raced mare whose best run was a whisker second on a soft track, and she has been kept fresh with a tidy trial. She settles in the first few which is exactly where you want to be at Tamworth, and her stable is in good form. The step up to 1400m for the first time is the unknown, but her profile suggests she is ready for it and she is the obvious chief threat.
The most consistent horse in the race without a win, having filled a placing in most of his starts. He races up near the speed, which is the right place to be on this tight circuit and in a slowly run race, and the gear change suggests the stable is trying to find a bit more. Solid each-way claims.
Rupertano showed plenty on debut when he led and was nailed right on the line at Taree, producing the strongest late surge in this line-up. He maps to lead again from gate eight and front runners are well served at Tamworth. He is lightly raced and improving, but the stable is struggling for winners and he moves up off a country maiden. One of the main chances.
Continues to run well without winning, most recently a solid third over 1200m here.

TMFM 95.5 Country Boosted Mdn Hcp
The clear pick. She draws sweetly in gate six, maps in the first handful, and a 14-day freshen keeps her right. The soft five should be manageable at this stage of the prep, and the stable is in form.
A well-bred filly from a stable that rarely leaves this track empty-handed. She settled on the speed and was only run down late on debut at Dubbo, running to a strong standard, and the drop to 52.5kg with the claim helps. Second best winning hope.
The safest placegetter in the race. She handles a soft surface, keeps an in-form rider, and her pattern of settling just off the speed suits the way this race should be run. Hard to see her missing a place again.
The overpriced runner in the race. She led at Armidale last start and fought on for second, beating today's third pick home in the process, and she rates close to the main chances on that effort. Second up with a run under her belt, she maps as the likely leader from gate four and has shown she can absorb pressure.

KCE Civil Contractors Mdn Plate
The clear form pick. She came from worse than midfield to charge home for second at Scone over 900m last start, the strongest recent run in this field, and she's second-up today with natural improvement to come. Drawn nicely in the favoured middle gates and brings far more race-day substance than a field of debutants and one-start horses. The knock is eight starts without a win, but this is her best opportunity yet.
She showed good early speed at Scone to press forward and was only overhauled late, and she maps to settle right on the speed, which is exactly where you want to be at Tamworth. Her inside draw is the one query, but her on-pace style should largely offset it.
The reliable one. She has finished in the placings six times from eight and maps to settle just off the speed, which is exactly where you want to be at Tamworth over 1000m. She brings a close-up second at Coffs Harbour and a sound last-start third at Taree. The wide gate is the query, but her honesty and on-pace pattern make her hard to keep out of the finish.
Fitter for a recent trial win and looks the horse to lead from a handy enough draw. He raced wide and dropped out in his only race start at Newcastle but had clear excuses, and the leader's role is the strongest place to be at Tamworth. Nathan Doyle's yard is going well and he's a natural on-pacer.
Her trainer has an outstanding strike rate at Tamworth and she's won both recent trials, including one here on a soft track, so she arrives race-ready and clearly has ability.

Tamworth City Toyota Plate (C1)
The clear form pick. He led and won by nearly three lengths here a fortnight ago, running to a standard that would be good enough to take a Class 1, and a slow tempo with him the likely leader sets it up perfectly. Two queries: it is his first try at the mile and he rises from maiden company carrying top weight. Bullock's record at this track and with this stable is a plus.
A model of consistency with five placings in his last six and placed over a mile twice. He drops to an easier level than he has been contesting at Newcastle and Gosford, handles soft ground and the yard is in form. The knock is that he has won just once in ten and always seems to find one better; from an inside gate he may settle too far back for the slow tempo.
An improving young stayer who was beaten a whisker over a mile on soft going last start and has placed on rain-affected ground twice. He is drawn in the favoured middle gates and the stable knows how to place them. The step from maiden to Class 1 is the risk, and he can be shuffled back in a slowly-run contest.
Highland Dancer won her maiden last start, leading throughout at Armidale, and her on-pace style is well suited to Tamworth. She is consistent and tough.
The value. He knows this track and trip well, finishing second and third in his last two starts over the Tamworth mile, both beaten under half a length. The concern is that he has saluted only once in 14 outings and tends to settle back and run on into the placings rather than put a race away.

McDonalds Tamworth (Bm82)
Zampano is the local specialist — two wins and a placing from five starts here and every one of his 11 runs at 1000m. He draws ideally in gate four and his stable cannot stop winning. The step up in grade is the query, but a five-year-old with so few starts is still on the way up and he looks the one to beat at the trip.
He trialled well at Tamworth and will race handy.
Shaggy is a proven commodity at this grade, having finished a close third over this course and second at Taree in similar company. He draws the favoured middle gate and will settle handy, which suits a fast-run sprint, and his last run is excusable after early interference.
Gold Lover produced the best run of anyone engaged when she won on soft ground and now drops into a race where she can control the speed from a perfect gate five. She is second-up and has placed both times fresh, and she relishes rain-affected ground.

Concrete Industry Supplies Country Boosted Hcp (C3)
Strongest wet-track profile in the field with two wins from three on rain-affected ground, and her form at Country and Highway level is consistently close-up. She rarely runs a bad race and has enough early speed to work across from a wide gate. Expect her to settle in the front half and be running on strongly through the line.
He has the speed to lead or sit on the pace. The knock is the top weight, the rise in class and a wide gate in a race with genuine early speed.
She comes out of far stronger Highway and city races and drops sharply in grade, having finished close-up third and fourth in Highway company on rain-affected ground. She'll be running on hard late. The worries are that she is a deep closer on a track where that is difficult, has never won on soft going and can get too far back.
An in-form on-pace galloper who won well last start and maps to settle third or fourth, dodging the early speed fight out wide. He has a handy mid draw and a jockey who rides this track well and has already won on him.

Shay Brennan Construction (Bm58)
He rarely runs a bad race and is drawn to lead, giving him control of a moderate tempo. The knock is his poor winning strike rate — one win from 17 — and he has never won at 1400m or on soft ground.
Ran the best race in this field last start when a close third at Armidale over 1400m, and she maps to settle in the ideal on-pace position from barrier four. She gets in light and her stable is going well.
Won his last start at Dubbo in the manner of a horse on the up and his recent form is the strongest in this field. He settles on the pace from a good gate, which is exactly where you want to be at Tamworth, and he has already won on a soft track. The queries are the class rise and the step to 1400m, but the form, the map and a 21% strike for this stable and rider all point his way.
He won impressively last start over this distance on soft ground, storming home from last.
