La Chica Bella boasts the race's best heavy-track credentials, closing hard for 2nd on Heavy 9 at Hastings. While the wide draw (13) is a concern on Woodville's sharp circuit, she overcame a wide gate last start and gets a repeat ride from Kelly Myers. She is the one to beat.

He steps into heavy ground for the first time, which is a query, but his debut performance was solid. With a handy barrier (6) and a 2kg claim, he maps to get a good run. While La Chica Bella has the superior heavy form, Congolian offers a strong alternative and should be competitive.
He does have an ideal barrier (4) and a strong trainer/jockey combination, but the switch to heavy ground is a major unknown. The form lines behind Congolian and the heavy form of La Chica Bella suggest he may struggle to turn the tables.
High Noon ran a solid 3rd on debut at Wanganui on Soft 5, showing enough to suggest she can handle rain-affected ground. She is worth an each-way ticket as a value play in an open race.

Bee Precious has shown ability with two thirds from three starts, including a close fourth on soft. He steps onto heavy for the first time but has a good barrier and second-up profile. In a weak maiden, his consistency gives him the edge.
Rosa brings strong recent form with consecutive seconds on soft, though first up from a spell. She has previous heavy form and a good record at Woodville, including a second over 1200m on heavy10. Barrier 6 and Singh aboard provide a positive lead.
She must handle the heavy track and Woodville's turns, but the intent is clear. Likely to run well.
Mrs Flintstone is a class dropper from a BM65 to a maiden, which historically helps. She ran second on a heavy10 debut and then struggled in better company. Returning from a long spell but with a light weight, she could surprise if ready.

Clarrie Mudgway Memorial Mdn
Ena Sharples is the most reliable heavy-track performer in this maiden field, having placed in two of three heavy starts including a close second at Otaki. The 264-day freshen-up is a concern, but her first-up record includes a placing on heavy, and the Sharrock/Myers combination is a strong positive. Drawn fairly and with low weight, she is the clear top pick in a low-confidence maiden.
Our Test showed marked improvement at Trentham on heavy ground, finishing second after a poor debut. Second-up and drawn ideally in barrier 1, he should get a favourable run on the tight Woodville circuit.
Kit Zakat is a consistent maiden who has shown she can handle heavy going, having finished second on heavy at Wanganui. Her recent form is solid and she is race-fit. The wide draw (11) is a concern at Woodville, but she has the tactical speed to overcome it if ridden positively. Place chance in an open race.
Pixie Caramel is a heavy-track specialist who has placed in two of six starts on rain-affected ground. Returning from a long spell is a risk, but she has the benefit of a light weight and a favourable barrier.

Brutiful Lass is the most reliable contender with strong heavy track credentials and a perfect barrier 2 at tight Woodville. She consistently runs well but has yet to win. Her recent runs in maiden company suggest she is close to a breakthrough, and the conditions today strongly favour her. Likely to finally get the job done.
Merkel returns from a lengthy spell with a solid first-up record (2nd in 2 attempts). She has not raced on heavy, which is a major query, but her prior form on soft suggests adaptability. The barrier is acceptable and the class is suitable. She may need the run but could feature if the heavy conditions aren't a major impediment.
Feint To East is a lightly raced filly from a premier stable resuming from a spell. She has no heavy track form and her only runs were on good ground. Barrier 4 helps, but she needs to handle conditions to justify favouritism.
Valvano drops steeply from Open class to Maiden, a huge class advantage. He draws barrier 3 and should race forward, which is ideal at Woodville. Second up he has placed (3rd). The heavy track is an unknown, but his wet form on soft is credible.

Derryman is the most consistent performer in the race, having placed in his last three outings including a solid third on Heavy10. He has a placing at Woodville and handles wet ground. Despite carrying top weight, his recent form and fitness edge make him the most likely winner in this moderate maiden field.
Satomi showed significant improvement last start with a narrow second on Heavy9 at Hastings over 2200m. From barrier 2, he can settle handy on this tight Woodville circuit and should be competitive again. His heavy track form is a plus, and while still a maiden, he looks ready to break through.
Tick Tock Tessa has the best draw in the field and a Woodville placing under her belt. The 3yo filly drops to just 54.5kg with a 2kg claim, which is a big advantage in a heavy track. Her recent form is mixed, but if she replicates her second at Woodville from two back, she is a strong each-way chance.
Vincero is a roughie worth a small each-way play. He produced a strong second on Soft5 two starts back and while he failed on synthetic since, he may appreciate a return to turf.

MacDougalls Woodville Pahiatua Cup (Bm75)
Quid is the clear form pick with outstanding heavy track statistics and consistent BM75 performances. His recent 2nd and 3rd at this level on rain-affected ground confirm fitness and suitability. Barrier 6 is fine for 2100m and he carries a manageable weight. He profiles as the most likely winner in a race where many rivals have question marks.
Swingit Our Way jumps out on second-up statistics with a 50% win rate. Barrier 1 is a massive advantage at Woodville, especially on heavy ground where leaders dominate. She has strong heavy track credentials and drops back from Open company. Her first-up failure over 1400m can be forgiven as she now steps up to her preferred staying trip.
Overdraft brings a strong record on heavy ground and has won at Woodville over this distance. His recent BM65 wins indicate improving form, and the step up to BM75 is manageable with a light weight. The main query is the class rise against proven BM75 horses, but his form line and track affinity suggest he can measure up. Worth an each-way play.
Despite two moderate recent runs, she drops to a more suitable level and has an inside barrier that should enable a forward run.

Matt Sparrow Contracting (Bm65)
Amazing Son is a strong wet-tracker with impressive Heavy form, winning on Heavy10 over 1200m last preparation. Returns from a spell but has placed first-up before. Barrier 5 and the known jockey combo give him every chance on the tight Woodville course. The main risk is freshness, but given the sloppy conditions he looks the most likely winner.
Puddle Of Mudd has winning form on Heavy going and now drops back to a suitable BM65 grade. The inside barrier is a major asset at Woodville where leaders prosper. The jockey is a concern, but the horse has shown enough class to be competitive. If he can lead from the draw he may prove hard to run down.
Rosesrred is a genuine heavy-track mare with a strong strike rate in the mud. Despite returning from a spell, she has shown she can run well fresh. The wide barrier is a slight negative at Woodville, but her wet-track ability is undeniable. She should be charging late and is well suited to the testing conditions.
Littleredcorvette is a longshot with a specific strength: she has finished second twice at Woodville over 1200m, showing she handles the tight track. On Heavy going she has two wins and she will carry only 51kg from an inside barrier.

Braeside Farm (Bm75)
Librero boasts an impressive 3-from-7 record on heavy ground and comes off a long spell with a positive first-up history. Barrier 5 and the strong Sharrock-Chowdhoory combination add confidence. The main query is fitness, but her heavy-track dominance makes her the most likely winner.
Florin is a genuine wet-tracker with all three wins on heavy going. She drops in class after running in Open and Listed races, and has already won at Woodville. The outside draw is a concern on this tight circuit, but her heavy form and class edge give her strong place claims.
Renovations has a consistent profile with good numbers at 1400m and on heavy tracks. Barrier 6 should allow a prominent ride, which is key at Woodville. The last-start failure on soft is a concern, but back on heavy she can bounce back into the placings.
Diomedes is a proven heavy-track horse with four wins on the surface, and a class drop from Open to BM75 is a positive. The query is the wide gate (14) on the tight Woodville circuit, which makes his task difficult.

Smith AG Hcp (60)
Don's Legacy returns to a suitable trip and class level after two ineffective sprint runs. His heavy track win came over 1600m and he's been competitive in BM65 grade on this surface. The drop to Restricted 60 is significant and with a genuine tempo expected, he should be prominent throughout. The main concern is the wide gate but the mile start at Woodville offsets this somewhat.
Perfect Pete comes off a solid 3rd at Wanganui over 1600m on Soft7, his best run in several starts. The drop to Restricted 60 is a positive and his heavy track placing record (2 seconds, 2 thirds) suggests the conditions are suitable. Barrier 11 is not ideal but the mile start at Woodville gives time to slot in. He's the most in-form runner in the field and should be in the finish.
Sacred Zed has shown ability on heavy ground with a win and a place from 4 starts. He draws ideally in barrier 4 which is crucial at Woodville. His last run at the track was poor but that was on Soft6 and from a wide gate. With the heavy track and better draw, he can bounce back.
Eagle Rock is a value play based on his outstanding heavy track record. His only win came over 1600m on Heavy10 at Te Rapa in maiden company and he followed with a 3rd in an Open race on Heavy9. Last start was on Soft5 which doesn't suit. Back on heavy and second up, he can improve sharply.

His Heavy record of 3:1-1-1 and 1600m record of 3:1-1-0 are strong for this Heavy 8 Woodville mile. Recent runs look poor, but they were either on less suitable ground or over 2100m. The wide draw and 59.5kg temper confidence, but he has the clearest wet-track winning profile.
65 company over 1600m last week. His distance record of 2:1-1-0 is a major positive, and the inside draw should help at Woodville. The key reservation is that all recorded turf form is on Soft, with no Heavy-track exposure, so he is a major chance but not a clear top pick on Heavy 8.
Rithim has a compelling Woodville-specific angle, having won her only track-and-distance run on Heavy 9. From barrier 2 with 56kg, she gets the type of setup normally favoured on a Heavy Woodville mile. The concern is fitness: she is first up and her first-up record is 2:0-0-0. She is a genuine winning threat, but the fresh query keeps her below Rio Grande and Pinker.
Our Giulia is the value runner. Her recent form looks unattractive, but she drops from Bench. 65 grade over 1600m on Heavy 10. She is risky but suitable each-way value.
