Durness produced her best performance last start, closing well for 2nd over 1720m at Grafton on Soft5. She has a solid wet-track record and the same rider stays aboard. With a forward midfield position from barrier 8, she maps to be in the front three by the 400m - the key winning zone at Grafton. She represents the strongest form line in the race and should break her maiden.

Taga Smile is the logical contender from barrier 1 with Nick Heywood aboard. She ran well over 1650m last time and looks ready for 1700m. However, her two starts on soft ground have been unplaced and she has never won. She'll need to handle the conditions better to beat Durness. The barrier and recent form make her the clear second pick, but there are doubts about her wet-track ability.
Happy Coffee is hard to recommend confidently but the gear change and barrier draw give her a chance in this moderate field. She has placed on soft before and Bailey Wheeler is a positive booking. If the blinkers sharpen her early speed, she can sit handy and maybe hold on for a place.
Turpin's Torment is a perennial maiden but a consistent placegetter, especially at Grafton where he has multiple placings over 1700m. Second-up from a spell, he is likely to improve on his Quirindi first-up effort.

Morebar maps perfectly from barrier 1 and should lead or sit just off it. Grafton on Soft heavily favours front-three runners. His recent 2nd on Heavy 10 and 4th on Good suggest he's close to breaking through.
He steps down from a mile to 1100m, which should help, but he hasn't proven he can convert speed into a win.
Sea Turtle returns from a spell but his only poor run was on Soft. He placed well on Good and has gate 2 to find a forward spot.

Hooked On Seafood (Bm58)
Tryanza is the standout on form with excellent Grafton statistics, including two wins and a narrow third at this track and distance. He drops from Class 3 to BM58, bringing strong class credentials. His on-speed running style and favourable barrier 6 align perfectly with Grafton's leader-biased pattern. The recent 3rd on Soft 5 confirms he handles the going.
The Lupercal brings strong recent consistency with consecutive placings in Class 3 company, and now drops to BM58 grade. However, his lack of wins at 1100m and on soft ground tempers confidence. Still, he represents a solid place chance and is likely to be in the finish.
Zucchero faces a significant class drop from Class 3 to BM58, which could spark improvement. The wide barrier and jockey's poor form are negatives, but if he can slot in behind the speed, his class may prevail.
He has a consistent record on soft ground and at Grafton, with two seconds from five starts. The wide barrier is a concern, but his on-speed style and good track experience should help. He looks underpriced and is the best value play in the race.

Maclean Variety Meats (Bm58)
She maps to race on the speed, which is crucial at Grafton, and her jockey Mikayla Weir is in good form. Despite a wide gate, she offers solid value as the most likely winner.
Personal Space draws the inside gate and has a solid wet-track pedigree. He is a genuine on-pace runner who should hold a forward position, fitting the Grafton soft-track bias. His recent form is reliable and the step back to 1100m is suitable.
Red Chick is a promising filly who has shown ability in her short career. She ran well on this track last start over 1215m and drops slightly in distance. Her barrier and the claim give her a good tactical advantage, but her lack of a soft-track win and the jockey's recent form are concerns. She rates as a place chance.
He is dropping back in class and has a jockey in good touch. The gear changes suggest stable is trying to spark improvement.

Maclean Hotel (Bm58)
Bright The Sun is well placed dropping from Open company to BM58. From the inside draw, she can stalk the speed or lead, perfectly suiting Grafton's front-three bias on soft ground. The jockey's recent form is a concern, but the class edge and track profile strongly favour her.
Balmierro comes off a strong Class 1 win over 2200m on soft ground, showing a sustained finishing burst. Drawn inside, he can sit just off the lead and pounce. The 3120m is a query, but he has placed over 2350m at Grafton. With the slow tempo likely, his turn of foot could prove decisive. He is a solid each-way chance but the distance is a slight unknown.
Mimessi is a genuine stayer who appreciated the rise to 2100m last start with a dominant win. He has the crucial experience over 3170m at Grafton, running 4th on Soft7. Barrier 8 is manageable if he can slot into midfield. The jockey's poor recent form is a negative, but the horse's suitability to the trip and track makes him the best value of the top three.
Valentine John is the only confirmed speed horse in a race that projects as a slowly-run staying event. If he can cross from barrier 9 to lead, Grafton's front-running bias on soft ground will be a massive asset. He drops from Listed to BM58, a drastic class relief, and has a close 2nd over 3200m on Soft5 to his name.

Maclean Bowling Club Maclean Cup
Badgers Nuts is a Grafton specialist with a perfect 1 from 1 at the track and distance. Barrier 2 allows him to settle forward, crucial at Grafton where front-three at 400m dominate. With proven form on soft ground, he looks the most reliable winning chance at each-way value.
He tends to improve second-up and has a powerful 6 from 13 record at the trip. The wide gate is a concern on this leader-biased circuit, but Ben Looker knows him well and he has the enough speed to work into a forward spot. He rates as the main danger to the top pick.
His last start at Randwick in BM78 was disappointing and he now steps up to Open class.
She gets in light with 55kg and Dylan Turner's 2kg claim effectively drops her to 53kg.

Advantage Pharmacy / A Bowling Painter Country Boosted (Bm58)
From barrier 4 she should get a cosy run just off the speed. The step to 1700m is a query but her breeding suggests she'll stay.
Prestige Ice is the most consistent runner in the field, with a string of recent placings in Class 1 and Restricted 58 company. She handles soft ground and should settle just behind the speed from barrier 9. While she lacks a recent win, her reliability in this grade makes her the strongest win chance.
Seething Chuck has been knocking on the door with a string of runner-up efforts, including a narrow defeat in a BM58 at Inverell. The wide gate is a concern but he should still be in the finish.
Sinatra is lightly raced and has genuine ability, as shown by his maiden win on soft and a Class 1 victory on heavy. His last start was disappointing but he was tackling a BM66. If he can find the front, he could give a big sight.
