The clear form horse of a thin staying maiden. He has run second or third at his last five starts, has the quickest time over this trip in the field and has been placed four times on good going. Drawn the inside, he should land the box seat behind the leader in a slowly run race and get first run on the closers. The genuine query is a habit of finding one better, but nothing else here is as reliable.

A 58-start maiden but the most dependable placegetter in the race. He has been runner-up at his last two outings, including a close second over this course and trip, and he has six placings from 14 attempts here. He gets back and runs on, which is a worry if the tempo is as slow as it looks, but his closing style should still get him into the finish.
He is the one horse who can control a slowly run staying maiden, and the gear change to winkers suggests connections are trying to get him to finish the job. He led and was only run down late over this course and trip last start, and again before that, so he clearly has the speed to lead this field. The concern is that he has never placed in nine starts and keeps getting caught late.
Clearly the one to beat on form. He has run to a winning standard in each of his three starts this time in, closing hard for second at Coffs Harbour and a close fourth at Grafton, beaten under a length both times. Matt Dunn and Andrew Mallyon are the leading local combination and the extra trip looks ideal for a horse who finishes strongly. Only query is his first run past 1430m, but he is bred to stay. Short but right.
A maiden with an unflattering record, but his recent efforts at Grafton have been better than the bare numbers suggest and he maps to sit third or fourth in a race that lacks pressure.

CRJC AGM 25 November Country Boosted Mdn Plate
Brief Authority is the clear form pick. He finished fourth in a far stronger two-year-old contest at this track, and a repeat of that run would likely be enough in a moderate maiden. The inside gate suits Grafton's leader-friendly sprint, and the Dunn/Mallyon combination is the strongest in the race. He has had a freshen-up with two trials and drops sharply in grade. The only query is the lack of exposed form over the trip.
Scrambling is lightly raced but showed real ability on debut, running on powerfully to grab a placing at the short course. A recent trial win points to improvement, and the predicted fast tempo up front should play into his hands as a strong finisher. The obvious knock is that Grafton historically favours runners on the speed, and his only run was at 805m on wet ground.
Kanmuru is an on-pace type who should be prominent from the outset, which is exactly what Grafton sprint races reward. He has already run a solid fourth here over 1015m and comes off a second-up run where he was too keen in front.
Exo Murano is the value angle. Second-up, he should strip fitter, and the predicted fast tempo gives him the genuine pace to chase down.

Book A Christmas Party @ CRJC Mdn Hcp
He has the best form here: a close second at Grafton two starts back after leading, plus a solid third at Coffs Harbour. He races on the speed, which is exactly where you want to be at Grafton, and blinkers go on first time for a yard that wins one in five here. The top weight, tricky gate and a hot pace are the queries, but he should be hard to hold out.
Led and was only collared late when second at Grafton last start, and he again looks the one to set the tempo with the best early speed in the race. Drawn well in six and second up, he should be right in the finish. The knock is his stable, which is yet to win at Grafton, and a hot pace with a couple of others wanting the lead.
A consistent placegetter who has run two nice thirds at her last two, including over 1200m at this track where she closed hard from midfield. A genuine fast tempo suits her strong finish, and she is proven at the trip. The concern is her wide gate and a leader-friendly track, so she will need luck to get a clear run from just off the speed.
A first-starter from the leading local stable, which is a strong pointer in an open maiden. The yard wins one in five at Grafton and teams up with a jockey it has enjoyed good success with, she is drawn nicely in two, and her trials have been sound.

CRJC Christmas Race Day 29 November (Bm66)
Drops in class and brings arguably the strongest recent form, a close third over 1200m here at this grade where he was strong to the line. Consistent and never far away, and he is suited by a genuinely run sprint.
Genuine on-pace type with an excellent record at Grafton, two wins and several placings from nine starts. He will settle handy from the good draw and the run style fits a track that favours those close to the speed. The query is the rise in grade from BM58 company, but he was close up at this trip two runs back and is a consistent type.
Blinkers go on first time and he drops back to a sprint trip after a 1400m flop. The queries are the sharp rise in class and the fact his best has come on softer going, while a wide gate adds to the test.
In-form leader who ran to a winning standard when beaten a nose over 1212m at Coffs Harbour last start at this exact grade. Drawn ideally in three, he should control a moderate tempo at a track where getting forward is the single biggest edge. The rider knows him well and has won on him before.
His best run is a close second over 1200m at this grade where he finished off hard, and he has been kept up to the mark with two recent trials. The gear change may sharpen him and he has shown up fresh before.

Team Aidan Markets @ CRJC 22 November (Bm58)
Consistent staying mare who has finished second at her last three starts, two of them over this trip at Grafton. She settles handy and this race lacks a genuine leader, so a slow tempo should suit her. Proven at the track and distance and brings the best recent form into the race. The obvious knock is a lean win record, but she is the one to beat on form.
He settles well back in the field, though, and Grafton's staying races clearly favour horses on the pace, especially with a slow tempo predicted.
Improving four-year-old whose recent runs rate the best in the field and who is out of a staying mare, so the step up in trip could suit. He drops back in grade and gets winkers for the first time to help him settle after racing keenly at his past two starts. The risks are a wide draw and a first try beyond 1800m.
The most progressive runner in a thin race. She should race handy, which is exactly where you want to be at Grafton over this trip, and she is still lightly raced with improvement to come. The rise in class and a first start beyond 1800m are the queries, but her form and forward style give her the strongest winning claims.
Proven winner at this track and trip and generally consistent in staying races without adding to his tally.

The Kosciuszko 17 October Hcp (C2)
A lightly raced three-year-old who drops out of stronger company and produced the strongest closing run in this race last start when third at Warwick. Drawn well in gate four and looks suited by the step to 1015m. Second-up is a slight query and his trainer has never won here, but his upside and the class drop make him a leading hope.
A Grafton specialist who has two wins and three seconds from seven starts here and drops slightly in grade today. Her last three runs were all seconds, showing consistency without quite getting the job done.
The class runner of the field, returning from a much tougher Showcase grade and unbeaten in two starts at this track and trip, both times leading. Draws wide in 12 but has the early speed to cross and take up the running. She is a front-runner who can be vulnerable late, but her form and her record here make her the one to beat.
A Grafton regular who races on the speed, which is exactly where you want to be over this short trip, and he won here last start from the front. Drawn to settle third behind the leaders, he gets every chance to be in the finish.

Tabulam Cup 3 October Country Boosted Hcp (C1)
Consistent five-year-old with the best record at this track bar none — a win and three placings from four starts here, including a close second over this trip. Ran on well for third last start at Moree and gets a hot tempo to suit his closing style. Carries less weight than when runner-up here in March. The most reliable form in the race despite a modest winning strike rate.
Improving four-year-old who ran the best race of any runner last start, a closing second in a class one at Grafton when beating several of today's rivals. Won his maiden here two starts back and is clearly on the up. A strong tempo suits his get-back style. The knock is a stable with a poor strike rate and a need for luck from off the pace.
Genuinely consistent four-year-old who has never missed a place in five starts — a win and four placings. Broke through with a strong maiden win at Coffs Harbour last start, sitting handy and finishing off well. Steps up in grade but joins a leading local stable and should appreciate the fast tempo. The wide draw is the obvious query.
Likely front-runner who ran a bold second over this trip at Grafton two starts back, leading and only being collared late. Went too hard and folded over a longer trip last start, so the drop back to 1420m is a plus.
