He has an upset chance. He should settle close to the pace from barrier 14, and a handy spot suits this track in maiden races.

The class drop and fitness should help her, but she looks too short. Her Seymour fourth on soft ground was honest and she is fitter second-up. Her stakes runs were well beaten, though, and she is still looking for a first placing.
He has run two strong seconds this preparation and his Echuca run on a Soft 7 track was among the best recent efforts here. The wet ground suits, and his last two starts show he can settle closer than the map predicts. Barrier 10 and the step up to 1450m are the concerns. He still looks the most reliable horse in a weak maiden and the one to beat.
She looks the value runner. She should lead or sit second, and on-pace runners have the edge in Kilmore maidens. Her in-form stable has her fit after four trials and jump-outs, several on wet ground.

The safest form line in the race. Runner-up at Terang over further and a close second at Bendigo on heavy ground, both efforts good enough to win an average maiden. Drawn the inside alley, which is exactly where Kilmore mile winners come from, and she races handy. The one knock is she's yet to break through in eight tries, but this looks her best chance yet.
Her trainer's record here is a plus. But she's a get-back type at a track that clearly favours forward runners, and she's yet to win.
Maps as the likely leader and has a second here over a similar trip to recommend her. She handles soft ground and is consistent without breaking through. The risk is the genuine speed engaged in this race — if she's pressured in front she may be run down late.
She's the most consistent placegetter in the field — three thirds from five, two of them on soft going — and she races on the speed, which is where Kilmore winners come from. The wide gate is the clear risk, but she has the early speed to cross or slot in.

The standout on form. He has run in much stronger city 2yo races, including a close second in the Taj Rossi Final, and his soft and heavy form is excellent with placings every start. The wide draw and a likely spot near the back are the concerns at a track that favours on-pace runners. Still, the three or so leaders should set a fast pace, and his class edge should carry him through.
The clear next best. He led at Moe last start and was just run down on heavy ground, one of the best recent runs in the race. His Bairnsdale run on soft was better than the result, as he missed the start and still made up ground. The Freedman stable is flying, and if he jumps cleanly and goes forward from barrier 11 he fits the Kilmore on-pace pattern.
A reliable on-pace mare who draws perfectly in barrier 1 at a track that rewards forward runners. Her Donald third was a winning-standard effort, and she has run well on heavy.

MC Labour Mdn Plate
On form he is the most likely winner. He should jump fast from barrier 7 and sit just off or on the lead, which is where Kilmore sprint winners come from.
He was lightly raced and impressive on debut, running third in heavy ground in a run that was up to winning maiden standard. Barrier 2 and his early speed should put him in front or on the fence just off the lead, the key spot at Kilmore. With his weight advantage and natural improvement from his first run, he is the main danger to Weasel Sea. The fast tempo is the only worry.
He is a consistent maiden with a second over this track and distance, and he runs on-pace, which suits Kilmore. He is fresh after a winter break and his last jump-out was plain, so fitness is a question. He is also untried on soft ground and has to work across from barrier 13. His placings make him a solid place chance, but the win rates behind the top two.
He is a big overlay.

Box Hill RSL Hcp (C1)
Won at Kilmore over this trip and has been placed in both other runs at the track. He raced on the pace and fought on for a close second in a Class 1 on soft ground last start, and his earlier wet-track run was honest. The speed map puts him right on the pace, exactly where you want to be at Kilmore over the short course. The wide gate is the main query but he has the early speed to cross.
Drops from stronger company and lands in a favourable middle draw at a track where those gates have fared best. The stable is going great guns and he is a proven soft-track winner, and he sharpened up with a trial win after a plain first-up effort. He has not won at this trip and his recent form is patchy, but on class, stable form and race shape he is a genuine leading hope.
Unbeaten from her only start, where she came from off the pace to score on a soft track, and the stable has booked a senior rider in form. The knock is her get-back racing style at a track that strongly favours forward runners, plus a sharp rise in grade from maiden company. On the map she looks more a place chance than a winner.

Darebin RSL (Bm56)
His first-up second at Tatura on a heavy-leaning Soft 7 track was one of the best recent runs in the race. He goes well second up and handles rain-affected ground, with a heavy-track win and two soft-track placings. Stepping up to 2000m suits a horse who has placed over 2200m. Top weight is the main query, but the inside draw gives him options and Kilmore rewards horses that race handy.
An improving four-year-old whose maiden win over 2021m on heavy ground at Seymour was a genuinely good run. His form has been steady and he handles the wet. He's in against better company now with 62kg and a wide draw, but a strongly run race should suit his finishing style.
On pure ability she's the best in the race. She's proven at the trip, and John Allen rides Kilmore very well.
She's overpriced for a mare in form over the trip on wet ground.

Vale Brian Byrne (Bm56)
He has won 3 of 4 over the mile, and his second at BM56 on a Soft 6 track last start came after being caught back before he got home strongly. He has also placed in a BM62. From barrier 1 he should get the ideal spot midfield with cover while the three leaders take each other on, which is the pattern that suits Kilmore's mile. His soft-track win rate is only fair, but he places consistently, and he rates as the winner on form.
She drops out of BM62 company, where her Seymour third over the mile on a soft track was as good as anything in this field. Barrier 3 and her early speed should put her just behind the leaders on the inside, the preferred run at Kilmore. Her claiming jockey has won twice on her and the stable is going well. The extra weight and a fast pace are the risks, but she has the class edge and races in the right spot.
He won at this track on a soft surface last start and has now won 2 of 4 on soft ground, with a stable in excellent form behind him. The wide draw and his habit of getting back are the problems at Kilmore, where inside, forward runners win over the mile. A genuine tempo would help him finish over tiring leaders. He is a solid place chance with winning upside.
She is the value in the race, with the best soft-track and distance record in the field (won 4 on soft and 5 at the mile) plus a previous win over this course and distance. Her Tatura fourth at 63kg was better than it looks, and she now drops 4.5kg. From barrier 5 she should get a midfield run behind a fast pace.

C&M Build Group (Bm62)
The strongest form case in the field. First up at Wodonga in BM62 company she got back and closed to be beaten only half a length, so she's shown she can compete at this level. She should improve fitter second up, and a very fast pace with three leaders should help her run on from a midfield spot off the inside draw.
Her city Class 1 runs are at a higher level than most of this field has shown. First up she led on soft ground and was beaten just under a length, running close to winning standard. The worry is that she only has one win from ten starts and gets caught late.
Whimsy Smile is a genuine wet-track horse. The Soft 6 surface should suit him better than the good track at Geelong, where he faded after leading. He will go forward from barrier 3, which fits Kilmore's on-pace bias. The risk is that he gets pressured in a very fast pace. He's a solid place chance.
Paparazzo is the clear overlay. He consistently runs close to winning standard, and his midfield style suits the very fast pace expected. He has only two wins from 18 starts, but he places often, and his Wangaratta run on soft ground was better than the result after he was held up.
