Cold Shower ran the best race of anyone here last start at a stronger standard than most rivals have managed, and he brings it to a slow-run, on-pace-friendly 2270m from barrier 2. Soft ground is an unknown, but his pedigree and running style should cope.

He has led in his last three runs, handles wet ground and should enjoy the extra distance, with connections already talking about stepping up. The slow tempo helps, but he has tended to tire late and has to find the front from a wider gate.
His last run was close to a winning standard for a maiden and he gets the inside gate, which should allow him to settle just off the speed. The tempo suits handy runners, and 2270m should bring out more.
Melboy is a speculative value chance.

Her Geelong second ran to a winning standard, and a moderate tempo should let her control the race.
The second-best chance on form. A three-year-old gelding improving with each run and getting home well, he should settle in a handy spot from a good draw.
A moderate tempo and backmarker tag are concerns, but she can be ridden closer from barrier 4.
Shows signs of progressing, having been narrowly beaten over 1600m last time. He has early speed and extra distance should help.

Hedjet ran the best race in this field last start, finishing second on Soft ground after leading into the straight. He is second-up, has wet-track form and a handy jockey and trainer pairing. The wide draw and a rival on the speed are the risks, but he is the one most likely to win.
Silky Seth is the most consistent runner in the field. He can sit on or near the lead from barrier 1, which suits Geelong's recent bias toward on-pace runners. His maiden record is a concern, as he often gets beaten late, and he has not fired on Soft ground. He is a solid place chance who could win if Hedjet is hampered crossing from the wide gate.
Marco Polo has not yet placed but his two best runs were close to a winning standard. He has been well prepared with two jump-outs, and the stable is strong. Barrier 7 is fine, but he is likely to be midfield or further back, which is a negative on a track favouring on-pace runners.
Shooting Brake has been running to a winning standard against much better opposition and is dropping into a Maiden with 57kg. The wide barrier and midfield map are real negatives on a track that favours on-pace runners, but a moderate tempo should still let him get within range.
Tempered Edge is the overlay. He ran third last start at Mornington on a good track and was second on Heavy ground before that. He handles wet conditions and should be racing handy from barrier 6.

His debut run in Heavy conditions against better opposition was a genuine winning-standard effort, and two sharp trials since suggest he is ready. Barrier 11 is the one concern in a Geelong sprint that favours on-pace runners, but he should find a handy spot.
Faster Link looks the best map runner in the field. He should cross to lead or sit just off the speed from barrier 1 in a race where front runners are favoured at Geelong. His second at the track a month ago was a strong run, and last start can be forgiven given he overraced.
A genuine contender on ability. His soft-track second as a juvenile was excellent and his second-up strike rate is encouraging. The concern is the map: he settles near the tail and the moderate tempo, plus Geelong's bias against backmarkers, makes it hard to make up ground.
She has trialled consistently well, including a trial win just two weeks ago, and her on-pace style is the right one to have at Geelong. Her one race start was disappointing but it was a first-up run.

Turbo Saint beat a maiden field at Geelong over almost this trip last start and should sit on the speed from the inside. Soft ground and a step up to Class 1 are fair doubts, but the map and the connections suit.
Shaadrille looks to have the run of the race as the lone speed horse, and Geelong has favoured leaders heavily lately. He won well on Heavy ground and improves with racing.
Ladhar is a consistent filly who has run to a good standard and gets a big weight advantage. She should settle midfield and can improve second-up with a top rider on board.
Her best efforts have been strong and the poor last start came on Heavy ground, when she raced keenly. The jockey and trainer combination is productive.

Megajumps (Bm62)
Has the best map in the race: barrier 1, natural on-pace speed, and a slow tempo with one genuine leader. Has run well at Bm62 level and is up against rivals who are mostly stepping up in grade or drop in from other levels. Wet record is a concern, but the track data says to back current form and map over wet breeding.
Lightly raced and improving, with a sharp last-start win from back in the field. The negatives are the jump in grade, a wide gate and a slow tempo that does not suit a come-from-behind run.
Moonraker is the only true leader and should get a cosy run in front on a track where on-pace runners are winning most often. His wet-track record is strong, and the drop to Bench. 62 suits. The main query is the unconfirmed jockey and a slight stretch in distance.
A hardy wet-tracker with a good draw and a forward position in a slowly run race. A genuine each-way chance with a good map.

The Valley Inn (Bm66)
She won last start at Bendigo and ran two creditable runs in black-type-style company earlier in the campaign. Soft ground is no issue.
A consistent mare who has been running to a good standard and won at this track on soft ground. She steps up in class slightly, but the weight is fair and the stable and jockey are in good touch here. Likely to get a soft run just off the speed.
The mare won well last start at Seymour on soft ground, and her earlier record includes decent efforts at this distance range. The place option makes sense.
An overlooked leader. He has won his last two starts on soft and heavy ground and gets the ideal draw to control the race on a track where leaders have been winning. The 62kg is a significant weight, and he will have company on the speed. A good each-way type with a genuine chance of leading all the way.

Wise Choice (Bm62)
The most consistent runner in the field, Stay Humble has finished first or second in three of his last five starts, including a good second at Geelong two weeks ago. He should settle handy in a moderately-run race. He has not won on soft ground, but he places there often, and his current form is the best in the race.
Superstock has won four of his 16 starts on soft ground and will get a prime position just behind the leader from barrier 3. In a moderate-tempo race on a track favouring on-pace runners, that is a big edge.
Sarapo won on soft ground last start and gets a good draw, but he is a backmarker in a moderately run race on a track that doesn't reward late runners. He is also rising in class from maiden grade.
Won at Geelong on soft ground last start and has been a consistent placegetter in all four career runs. She sits handy in midfield, which suits a moderate tempo on a track favouring the on-pace. The class rise is the main query, but her recent runs have been of a standard that stacks up here, and she is lightly raced and still improving.
Lunar Force finished ninth at Geelong last start but wasn't beaten far and is a second-up runner with several jump-outs since. Jockey Jye McNeil has a good record at this track and the horse gets a midfield draw.
