She has been beaten only a head-ish and half a length in her last two, including over this course and distance on a Soft track. A mid-draw barrier and early speed fit what wins here.

A consistent, genuine sort who has been placed on Soft at this track and has early speed. She should be competitive if she can find a position without burning energy, so she is best used as a place chance.
A frustrating maiden but one with ability, having been beaten by a nose and run a high-quality race for the grade at Grafton. She has gate speed that suits this track.
Underrated after an interrupted run last start at this course and distance, and he can improve with the experience. He should be handy from a good barrier in a race where being on-pace matters.

Placed regularly and well suited by the run style that wins most often at Port Macquarie. Bullock has a strong local record. She has yet to break through, but a pace-advantaged run with cover gives her a good place chance and a real win chance.
Ben Looker knows the track well. The wide draw and 59kg are the concerns, and he will need luck to get into the race, but he has the ability to win a race like this and rates a place chance at least.
She has been placed in most starts, ran a good second last start, and gets a nice inside draw. The expected hot tempo should set up a midfield runner, and the early speed in this field is not strong. A maiden win is still unproven, but she is the most reliable of a tricky bunch.
She ran a strong second at Newcastle and has good trial runs behind her. The stable is one of the stronger local operations and Buckley rides well here. With the pace likely to collapse she can pick up pieces from midfield. The wide gate is a drawback, but this is a good each-way proposition.

Evergreen Turf Country Magic Hcp (C1)
Miners Mate's recent efforts are consistently the best on offer. He was a whisker away leading at Armidale and is sound on soft. Barrier 8 and a handy position suit a track that rewards runners near the speed. He should get a good trip behind the three leaders.
He was beaten by a nose last start, ran well first-up and has won on soft. A hot pace should bring him into the race from midfield.
Trinity State beat older rivals on debut over the right distance, pulling clear late despite a slow start. Barrier 3, 55kg and Liberty Smyth's local record all help. The unknowns are the rise from maidens and soft ground.
Langlo Crossing's soft-ground maiden win was a significant jump in form after gear changes, and the ride of Aaron Bullock, who is strong here, adds appeal. Barrier 2 gives him options in a race with several speed horses.

De Bortoli Wines (Bm66)
King Potter is the best form fit. He won a Bm66 on soft ground at Taree with a strong run, and a well-beaten last start was against a far tougher Bm82 field. He gets a big class drop and should settle on the pace, where winners come from at this track. The jockey's recent strike rate is a concern, but the claim helps and the stable is firing.
But he steps up in grade after a long break and has never won on soft.
Humphree Bear is in winning form and loves soft going, having won last start. With two leaders likely to go hard, a genuine tempo should suit his strong finish and give him cover. The concern is that backmarkers struggle at this track and the inside draw could box him in.
Grassburn is a good each-way value play. She won a Bm74 on a soft track and ran well at Bm82, so this Bm66 looks easier. The last start was a clear aberration over an unsuitable trip. The trainer's record at Port Macquarie is a concern.

Geely At John Oxley Motors Hcp (C2)
Ran a big race at Taree on Soft 6 last start, beaten under a length, and now drops in grade. He should settle on the speed or just behind in a moderate-tempo sprint, and the handy-runner bias suits. The 59.5kg is the main worry, but the weights are compressed.
Second here last start after a scrappy beginning, he has a winning track-and-distance record and maps in the first handful from barrier 6.
Fresh from a spell with a strong first-up record, and a former winner here on heavy ground. Her recent runs in higher grades were creditable, and she finishes off well. The concerns are a back-half settling position when handy runners are favoured, and a poor stable record at this track.
Her last run was ruined by a wide trip and interference, and she had previously run third after leading in a strong race at Scone. Dropping in grade, she can settle handy in a moderate-tempo sprint.

Birdon Group Port Macquarie Sprint
Mister Bianco is the best form horse in the field. He won last start in strong company, has early speed and handles soft ground. The wide gate and top weight are real concerns, but this track favours runners who can sit handy at the turn.
The concern is his running style: back-markers rarely win here and a moderate tempo will not help a late runner.
Via Vegas is a track specialist who should lead, which suits a venue favouring front-runners. The class jump is a real question, so he is a each-way chance.
Pride To Follow is a solid second-up chance who has run well when near the speed at this distance. She is light in the weights and has handled soft ground.

Carlton Dry 3.5% Port Macquarie Cup
The likely leader in a race where being up front is the main edge, with a strong soft-track record. Last start was a disappointing run, and the step up to Open is a risk with top weight.
Fresh off a Toowoomba Cup win and with a strong record alongside his jockey, he is in the best form of his career. The main concerns are the soft going, which he has rarely raced on, and the wide draw. The track is drying, which helps, and he is a solid chance for a place.
The most proven horse against Open-grade opposition. The map shows him back, but he has recently settled around fourth.
A young, consistent horse who has been running to a good standard and handles soft ground.

Fastplast Building Supplies Hastings Cup
He should sit handy behind a fast pace from a good draw with Ben Looker aboard. The class rise and a habit of finishing second are the risks, but he is the most likely winner.
Prince Of Sorts has been running into places consistently and his Narromine run on soft ground showed he can match it at this level. He gets a handy draw and should settle in a spot to take advantage if the leaders go too hard.
Hibiki Harmony is the best suited of the in-form pace runners on soft ground and the distance. She looks a solid place hope if she can settle sweetly behind the speed.
Get Some Fun has been running solid races at a good level and already knows the Port Macquarie track. She gets a nice position behind the speed from a good draw.
