The Hoysted and Guthmann-Chester combination is highly effective. The 58.5kg and a possible mid-field to back run in a moderate tempo are the risks, but this is the most reliable form in the race and the first choice to break through.

Palmanova is a forward-travelling filly who has run well on soft ground, including a close second over 1000m at Warwick Farm. She gets the lowest weight and a top jockey, and the speed map suits her.
Malamagic is a debutant who has trialled solidly three times over this exact distance, winning once and finishing second twice, all on soft or good ground. Tony Gollan's Eagle Farm record is strong, the barrier is helpful, and Daniel Moor is in good form.
Soft ground and a green profile are the main concerns, but he's a strong each-way value play.

The best on-form chance in a maiden where the map points to a lone leader. In a slow-run 1400m on Eagle Farm's soft track, getting an easy lead is a real edge.
Fracus has run two good races, closing late from well back both times, and has handled soft ground.
A genuine place chance who has finished second and third and was flying at the end both times, including on a soft track. The slow tempo and barrier 12 are real obstacles, as it has been settling near the tail.
Second-up and with winkers added, the Gollan stable has a good record here. An each-way chance who can land a place at least.

DrinkWise (Bm68)
Won over this course and a similar trip on Soft 5 last start, and the map hands him the front in what looks a slow-run race.
Went down by less than a length to Cigar Man at this track on Soft 5 and meets him 3kg better off. He then ran a narrow second at Bm68 level. Gate 2 and a forward spot are positives. Needs to settle just off the leader rather than fight for the front, but a genuine winning chance.
Beat Bm68 rivals at Doomben two weeks ago and finishes strongly, with a jockey who knows him well. A slow tempo is a concern for a horse that comes from the back, but he should be midfield and has the stamina to finish off.

Jimmy The Scat is the only runner here with a proven placing against horses of this class. His forward style helps on the Eagle Farm sprint, though barrier 12 and Soft going are queries.
He was checked near the 600m, went wide and still finished well to be beaten just over a length. He should find a handy spot, but barrier 10 is a negative here and he has not raced on Soft.
Vice Royal has won two of his three barrier trials, the latest only 8 days ago, so he arrives fit and sharp. Tony Gollan and Angela Jones have a strong record together and barrier 8 is fair. He is a debutant on Soft, and the stable's recent run is cold, but the trial wins and connections earn him a place in the top three.
Volcanic Rush has hit the board in all three trials, winning the latest, and two of those placings came on Soft ground, which is rare in this field. He carries just 57.5kg and has the leading form jockey Jace McMurray aboard.

He has won his last two at the trip, ran well on Soft 5 here last month and gets an ideal on-pace trip from barrier 3. His soft-track record is the only worry, but his last run on this surface was a good one.
A proven wet-track sprinter who is overlooked on recent results. His soft-ground record is outstanding and the stable and rider are both going well. The class rise is a question, but his last runs at this track on good ground were respectable.
A tough and consistent sprinter who handles the wet and carries a light weight. He was only beaten on the post last start and the jockey knows him. The step up in class and a likely back-field run from a wide-ish barrier make him a risk for the win, but he should be finishing hard and looks a solid place chance.
He has a win at this track and distance, a strong record with this jockey and trainer, and has shown plenty of speed.

Ladbrokes Tote Win +10% In October Plate (C1)
Clear form pick. Its last-start Soft 6 win was far the best run in the race, and it has already won on soft over 1200m. The risk is the back-of-field map in a moderately run sprint on a track that favours handy runners.
Handy early speed is a plus on a track where leaders and on-pace runners are favoured, and it has run well at Eagle Farm over this trip. It is a sound place option.
The inside gate and leading style are made for this track. It ran well last start, and the jockey's recent form is excellent. Concerns are the soft going, where it has not yet been tested, and 60kg for a horse still learning. Another leader (Quickzou) may press it. It looks a safe place chance, with a win only if left alone.
A filly that won a stakes-level race on soft over 1200m and is now running in a much weaker class at the bottom of the weights. A competitive trial and a leading jockey make her a fair each-way chance.
