The map is the clincher: barrier 5 and an on-pace style suit Ascot 1400m perfectly while most of his main rivals are drawn wide and come from behind. The distance rise is the only genuine query.

On raw form she is the second-best horse here, having run a slick debut second and beaten War Trail in the process. The problem is entirely positional: barrier 16 and a get-back style face the lowest strike rate on this track.
His Northam return was solid and he should sharpen for it.
The obvious knock is that she has never won in 17 attempts, but her last two runs over 1400m at Bunbury were the most consistent recent form in this race and the latest was a personal best.

Official Business has the best recent form in the race and a racing pattern made for Ascot. He is a consistent colt who positions on speed, exactly where Ascot 1200m winners come from.
Her first-up Belmont second was up to winning standard and she drew ideally with the lightest weight.
Firearm is the improver of the race. He was a close second to Official Business at Northam from near last, then won next time from midfield with a sharp finishing burst. The expected fast tempo helps him, but Ascot is a tough track for horses coming from the back and he carries 60kg from a get-back pattern.
Maybe Maybe Maybe was a sound fourth on debut at Northam behind Official Business and Firearm, running a mark above most of this field, and she now meets both on better terms with a 3kg swing against Firearm. From barrier 5 she should settle midfield, which is ideal for Ascot.

A powerful Belmont trial win, a leading stable choosing a Class 1 debut, a senior rider and a sharp sprinting pedigree outweigh anything the exposed runners have shown.
On raw form this is the most exposed quality in the race. He has never run a bad race, won at Belmont last start and ran a career-best second at Ascot from this exact barrier. The fast tempo with Hansadios should let him take a sit on the speed rather than lead.
The predicted fast tempo and the inside draw are the two things he has lacked, so the setup is as good as it gets. He is a non-winner who gives weight, though, and horses coming from behind struggle at Ascot.
A genuine overlay rather than a likely winner.

Call Me Invincible has been the model of consistency this campaign, running to a winning standard almost every start before breaking his maiden at Kalgoorlie. He steps up in grade but his recent runs compare favourably with anything the Class 3 horses have produced. The draw and racing pattern are ideal at Ascot, where handy runners from inside gates hold a strong edge.
Artie's Storm was narrowly beaten at Belmont over this trip last start and that form stacks up well against today's field. She is a handy type who should settle in the first half dozen, and she drops to a feather weight. The query is the step up in class after a poor effort in Class 3 company earlier in the campaign.
The issue is the racing pattern. She settles near last and Ascot sprints are won by horses on the speed, so even with a fast tempo she will need luck and a strong finish up the rise.
Just Gifted was a disappointment first-up at Bunbury but she has a history of improving at her second run back, and her Class 3 win at Pinjarra in March was a run that would be good enough to win this. She is the quickest beginner in the field and draws to lead on a track that rewards front-runners.

Javelin Strike comes here off a dominant Northam win that rates as the best recent performance in this field, and his Belmont fourth at this distance was also to a winning standard. He is a Good-track specialist who positions just off the speed, which is exactly the pattern that holds up at Ascot over 1400m.
Swift Talker has the ability to win this, as his Belmont second over 1400m two starts ago showed, but the map is against him. He will settle near the rear from barrier 9 and backmarkers at Ascot need the race to fall apart in front, which is unlikely with only two genuine leaders.
If she crosses cleanly she will be hard to run down in a race where front-runners hold the edge. Worth a small each-way play.

GTT Ventures Trophy (Rs0ly)
On class she is the standout. Three placings at stakes level, including a third in the Ascot Guineas that reads as the best quality run in this field, put her well above horses racing at Northam and Kalgoorlie. She has early speed and draws to sit handy from barrier 4, which is where Ascot winners come from. The risks are a six-month gap since her last race, modest trials and a weak rider.
He is an improving three-year-old with a feather weight, a top stable and a top rider, and the fast tempo expected should bring him into it. However, his form to date is a Bunbury maiden win and a sound fifth at Northam, which falls short of the class Admire Astra brings. Being mapped to settle back at Ascot midweek is a concern.
Her Bunbury run was close to a winning standard for this grade. The two-leader speed map points to a strong tempo that suits her finishing style, and 54kg is a help. The negatives are that she will settle last on a track where backmarkers struggle, so she needs the race to fall apart.
Before that he won twice in four starts at Belmont, and his win in this restricted grade over 1650m last month was the best run at this class in the field. He gets a fair draw and a midfield map. Small each-way stake only given the risk that the Moora flop was a sign of a problem.

She maps to sit midfield from barrier 8 in a moderately run race and finish over the top of a leader that may be vulnerable at a first attempt at 1600m.
Her Bunbury win was the strongest single run in this field and she will lead, which is a positive on a track that favours on-pace runners. However she is untested at 1600m, is rising sharply in grade as a three-year-old against older horses, and was caught late when leading at both of her previous two starts.
Ginger And Tonic produced the best run of her career at York last start when she sat on speed and held on for third against a lesser field. The map here is ideal from barrier 5 and 54.5kg is a help, but her record of one win in 37 starts says she is far more likely to run into the placings than win.
Two runs back he won a Northam maiden over 1600m with a run that matched the best in this field, settling midfield and finishing powerfully. Ridden closer last start he faded badly, so a return to a patient ride from the wide gate makes sense.
