Strike Package has won a 1000m barrier trial and finished second in a Cranbourne jump-out over this trip, both on Good ground. Mark Zahra has a strong record with the stable and the horse draws barrier 3, which suits a sprint here.

Splendacious gets the best draw in the race and a top rider in Damian Lane, who has a good record at this track. It finished second twice in its last three hit-outs, including the barrier trial at Caulfield Heath.
Truant is the only runner with solid race form over 1000m, and the clock suggests last start was a good run. It led or sat just off the pace at Moe and should do the same here, which is the best way to run at Cranbourne. It is second up after a gelding operation, with winkers removed.
Locard has run a couple of respectable races against much better rivals, including an open handicap over this trip, so a maiden is a big drop in class. It is fit after a jump-out placing 10 days ago and the stable runs well here.

Welcome Back John H Mdn Plate
He has not raced but won his latest trial, and the trainer and jockey combination wins at a strong rate. He has not been penalised for the lack of race history.
The most reliable of the experienced runners, with an improved run at 1000m behind recent maiden winners. He has the speed to take the box seat from barrier 2 and the lean favours forward runners at Cranbourne.
A debutant who has trialled well, winning a jump-out last week and finishing second over 1000m earlier. However, barrier 14 is the widest in the race, the trainer is out of form and the jockey is struggling.
She is racing fresh after a jump-out and has the speed to race handy from barrier 6.

Duffy & Simon Lawyers Mdn Plate
He is the most natural front-runner in a race where leaders and handy runners dominate at Cranbourne, and his barrier trial win shows he is ready. He is the most likely winner, though not at overs.
Not a standout on form, but the map and barrier are as good as it gets here.
A consistent maiden who ran a solid race at this track and trip last start. She has the lightest weight and a hot-strike-rate combination.
Tagabella ran poorly last start but gets a much better draw and map today. Her best form is on pace, and with a light weight and barrier 2 she can bounce back.

Browns Sawdust & Shavings Mdn Plate
The clear form standout. He has finished off strongly in both runs, last start going down by a whisker at Geelong after being caught wide and dropping back early. Trainer and jockey are deadly at this track. He will probably settle off the pace in a moderately run race, which is the main worry, but he is far stronger than these on form and rates the most likely winner.
The best of the forward-racing chances. He is consistent at this level, was only a fraction away from winning on heavy ground at Moe when leading, and should get a good run just behind the speed from barrier seven.
A forward-going type who has been placed in both runs and should be competitive again. The wide barrier is a real negative at Cranbourne, but he has the speed to cross if the rider wants to lead.
A debutant from a stable that is winning at a high rate, and his winning jump-out at Mornington shows he has some ability.

VTR Medical (Bm62)
The clear form standout.
Drops sharply in grade after an honest return run at Mornington. She has shown a standard well above Bench. 62 before and should improve second up. She will get a handy midfield run behind the pace.
A speedy gelding who gets the ideal draw and map. His best form was on the synthetic and over maidens, so the class rise and unproven Good-track form are real concerns. Still, his efforts over 1400m at Pakenham were strong enough to make him a danger in a moderately-run race, and the stable is in form.
An old campaigner who gets a good position from a handy draw. His last run was an honest third and he is race-fit and second up. A place chance rather than a winner.

Minuteman Press Narre Warren (Bm66)
She's A Con beat this grade over 2500m at Cranbourne on 25 September, getting home just in time after a slow start and with a good run. She is dropping back to the same class on the same track and distance range, and ran on well in other recent runs. Backmarker status is a worry, but a moderate tempo with three leaders should help.
Chihuly won a Bm66 at Sandown on 9 September and was second in another before that, so he is proven at this level. He drops from Bm78 company and has the inside barrier, which is handy on this tight circuit. He is mostly at his best on softer ground, but his record on Good is acceptable.
He is dropping in class, but top weight of 63.5kg, barrier 12 and a backmarker's run style at Cranbourne are real hurdles.
Power Pivot ran second three times in his last five, with powerful late runs over 2400m. He is a backmarker and has a wide barrier, but with three leaders in the race the tempo should be genuine enough to suit his late burst.

Freeway Ford (Bm66)
On form he is the best horse in the race. He has run to a winning standard in each of his last three starts, including a close second over this distance on Good ground. The map is a slight concern, but he has been racing handily lately and the moderate tempo should let him get closer.
The pick of the mares on form, with a win and a good second in her last two runs. She has the right gate and running position and the track suits. Her only poor run came on a heavy track.
A forward-racing, improving horse in a position that suits Cranbourne. Connections are among the best at the track. He rates a place chance but not quite the winner.
He beat this grade at this track on Good ground just three weeks ago, and last start's poor run came with an excuse. If he crosses and gets an easy lead in a moderate tempo, he is hard to run down.

Hygain Edge (Bm62)
The best form in the race. She won at this class, then ran a game second against better, and the draw lets her sit just off the speed. The tempo looks hot, but she should be able to stay close to the leaders rather than force the pace. 1200m is the one unknown, but her speed and recent runs suggest she can handle it.
Two wins in a row at the trip, both finished off with a strong late burst. With three leaders in the field and a likely scorching pace, her style of racing suits. The step up in class is the main query, but her last win at a similar level was a blanket finish and she was not stretched. She looks overpriced for a runner with that profile.
A genuine chance if the pace collapses as expected. He was slow out last start but ran on well, and the blinkers appear to help. The track generally rewards those on or near the speed, so he needs a strongly run race, but he looks the best of the closers on pure ability.
A tough, reliable type who keeps running into the placings without winning often. He needs luck from a midfield position, but he is a sound each-way chance rather than a winning one.
