Saisoku is the clear form horse. He ran third over this course and distance last start, closing off nicely after settling near the rear, and before that he was beaten a lip and a couple of lengths in two solid efforts around 2000m. With the only genuine leader inside him in the map, he should settle second and stalk a slow tempo, and the Pike booking is a real plus. The knock is that he is a twelve-start maiden, but this field is very thin.

Rock The Mic brings the strongest form reference — a fast-finishing second against restricted-class opposition at Belmont last time, and a head second over 1900m before that. Dropping into a maiden is a genuine class relief and 2200m suits. The problem is the shape of the race: with a lone leader and an expected slow tempo, a horse who settles last will need a lot to go right. He is a must for the placings but the map makes winning difficult.
Yalda Night is the veteran of the field and, for all that he has never won in thirty starts, he is a reliable place-getter who is well drawn to sit handy behind a slow tempo. He has a half-length second over this course and trip on his record and backs up off an eight-day break. He is unlikely to be good enough to win, but in a thin seven-horse maiden he should be in the finish.
Rock Silver is the outsider worth a second look. He is lightly raced, has been placed twice over middle distances including a closing third at Pinjarra over 2000m, and his recent plain runs have been at 1600m, well short of what he wants. The risk is obvious: he settles near last and the tempo looks soft, so he needs the race to break open.

Fading late over 1400m is a concern, but the map should suit him with only one other genuine leader.
But she is a lightly raced 3yo stepping up from a maiden win, and the stable is struggling for winners.
The Lucky Chip rarely wins, but he is a consistent placegetter at this distance.
Kat Five is a first-up runner after a long break, but she has trialled twice and has strong form over 1400m in similar Class 1 company. She should sit handy in a race with only one genuine leader.

Incredible Mr Fox produced the best run in this field last start when third over this track and distance, beaten under two lengths after settling handy. The top weight is a slight query but the weight spread is compressed.
She was a solid third over this track and distance two starts back on heavy ground, running on from last, but her latest was plain when seventh after racing greenly and pulling up slow to recover. The inside draw and Pike's 30% strike rate here are significant positives.
Luminous Lil is second-up after a last-start fourth at Northam where she had excuses, casting a plate and laying out. She has early speed and is likely to lead, but barrier 9 at 1000m is a real obstacle. Her first-up third at Belmont over 1000m was sound.
She won a recent trial and drops to 1000m first-up. The concern is a cold stable and jockey, and she will need luck from midfield.

The pick on form. She has been placed in all four runs, including a Listed second, and last start she was beaten only three-quarters of a length over this exact track and trip after settling in the first four. With only one recognised leader in the race and a moderate tempo, her on-pace style should have her in the right spot turning for home.
He has chased black-type company as a three-year-old, was only beaten a length when second here over 1000m, and gets Pike from the inside draw.
The negatives are real though: her trainer has never won here, the rider is out of form, and she will need luck on debut in a race with one dominant leader.
The best value in the race.

Frosted Warrior is the clear form pick. His last-start second at Belmont was the strongest run in this field, coming from well back and wide on the track. He is improving, gets a top jockey, and the step to a mile should be within his scope. The main query is his get-back style in a moderate-tempo race, but his talent and recent form make him the most likely winner.
De Lago's Rock is the obvious second pick. He has been placed at every start this preparation, including a close third over this track and trip last time. The inside barrier and William Pike are significant positives, and he should settle in a handy position.
Sylva Jack is a consistent staying type who ran a much improved race last start when narrowly beaten over further. Dropping back to 1600m should not be an issue given his profile, and he has the ability to be in the finish.
Table Talk is the value play. She is lightly raced, third-up today, and looks likely to get a soft run on the speed from barrier five.

Ran a gallant second over this course and distance in a Class 3 earlier this month, and now gets a big weight drop to 51.5kg. Her recent runs match anything in the field, and she should be handy behind a moderate tempo.
But 60kg over an unproven 1600m is a big ask, and the stable is out of form.
Consistent mare who has been hard to beat for a place, and she ran a good race last start in tougher company. A light weight and a handy position suit the likely moderate pace.
A fresh winner coming off a strong Kalgoorlie performance, and she gets a light weight of 52.5kg. She is the value runner in a competitive field.

Show The Way is the horse in form, having won his past two outings, both here at Northam and the latest over this trip when he sat midfield and finished over the top of them. In a moderate-tempo race that should suit his handy position, he looks the one to beat and represents fair value even at the shorts.
Queen Aria is a mare on the improve second-up and gets the services of William Pike, who rides this track as well as anyone. She has never missed a placing here and hit the line well first-up over a shorter trip. The query is her get-back pattern in a moderate-tempo race where leaders may be hard to reel in, but her class and the rider factor keep her firmly in the placing calculations.
However, his recent form is plain, having been well held at his last two outings, and a wide gate 11 with a rider short on recent winners adds to the concerns.
