The stable and the draw carry this one. Barrier 2 is a genuine edge on a Bendigo Heavy track where inside gates convert at roughly double the wide draws. Against that, the two trials from last spring were plain and there is no wet evidence at all. Class of connections keeps him prominent, but the profile is unproven enough to take the safer option.
The progressive runner of the race. Jake Noonan retains the ride for a stable he wins 19% for, and barrier 4 sits within the favoured inside band. Talented and improving, but the Heavy 8 is a genuine question mark.
A calculated roughy where the track profile does the heavy lifting. Bendigo on Heavy is the most extreme on-pace, inside-drawn setup of any condition here, and Little Bit has the rail with Luke Nolen aboard — the strongest jockey booking at this track in the race. The trial over the identical 1000m on a Soft 7 confirms he handles rain-affected ground and is race-fit at 26 days. Worth a small each-way interest.

Class is the overwhelming lever here. Drawn 4 on a track that rewards inside, forward runners on Heavy, and she placed on her only previous first-up run.
A pure proxy assessment under the debutant rules: no data is not a negative. Barrier 7 is against her on a track where inside gates dominate on Heavy, and the volume of first-time gear hints at greenness, so a Heavy 10 debut carries real risk. Play her at place level as the clear second string.
The best-mapped exposed runner in the race. Five Knights holds the fitness edge, the only genuine wet-track exposure, and inside barrier 3 - precisely the forward, inside profile Bendigo Heavy rewards. She has never won or placed and the jockey stats are modest, so this is a place play rather than a win proposition against a Group-placed rival.
A well-bred, well-connected debutant from a stable that wins with first starters, with Luke Nolen engaged and a workable barrier 5 on a track where the inside draw is a real edge on Heavy. The gear additions imply solid preparation. Against her is a complete absence of racing evidence and a demanding surface for a debut.
Barrier 9 is the sticking point given Bendigo's severe inside bias on Heavy, so she will need early speed to avoid being caught wide on a tiring surface. Sound each-way proposition rather than a win play against a proven black-type performer.
Per the debutant rules she is not downgraded for lacking form, and first-time winkers point to a purposeful debut. Purely speculative without any data to verify ability, so a small each-way stake only.

Childs stays aboard for a stable he wins 20% for, and the Tarzino pedigree screams improvement to a mile second-up. Wet-track unproven and short, but the profile matches the winning template almost exactly.
The 59.5kg on Heavy 10 and a moderate booking are genuine negatives, and barrier 6 means it must work to hold a forward spot, but on wet-ground evidence it is the main danger.
Second up for Dwyer with Bates aboard and the mile looks the right target for a Castelvecchio mare. The reservation is positional: barrier 7 on a track where getting back on Heavy is close to fatal means Bates must be positive early. If she lands in the first four she is a live winning hope; if she gets back it is a place chance at best.
The most exposed and reliable form line in a shallow maiden. Barrier 3 lets Mott hold a forward, inside position, which the track data says is close to a prerequisite - top-three at the 400m wins 24%, backmarkers 1%. She has also been placed at 1600m.
He is the only runner projected to lead in a race the tempo analysis rates as slow, from gate 4, on a surface where being top-three at the 400m is close to a prerequisite and maidens convert on-pace at 28%.

The most complete profile in a shallow maiden. Topweight and the maiden tag are the only meaningful concerns.
Place cover only.
A blind runner assessed on connections rather than form. Small-field dynamics soften the barrier concern enough to include for placings.
A complete unknown assessed on proxy signals rather than penalised for missing data.

Johansen Insurance Brokers (Bm66)
On a track where recent form and forward position dominate on Heavy, he ticks every profile box.
Exfortythree draws the best gate in the race at barrier 4, which is the dominant lever on Heavy at Bendigo. Lightly raced at only five starts, he has upside the exposed types lack. The obvious query is the wet ground — his one Heavy run was a beaten effort in much stronger Bench. 78 company at Rosehill.
The most reliable body of form in the race. Insain Harry has placed in eleven of fifteen starts, wins fresh, and draws the inside gate that matters most on Bendigo Heavy. He was third here over 1100m on Heavy 8 as a maiden and has been placed on both heavy runs. The reservations are genuine though - 1000m first up is short of his best trip, the blinkers come off, and he has not won on a heavy surface.
Fehmarn is the overlay.

Donna Philpot Memorial (Bm66)
She has been to Bendigo three times for two seconds and a third, including a 1100m second on Heavy 9 beaten a half-length, so track, trip and going are all proven. Barrier 3 gives her the inside, forward position that wins about 24% of Heavy races here while backmarkers win 1%. Coffey is 2-from-2 on her.
The class relief is real: she has been racing in Bench. 74 and Bench. Two heavy runs for one placing is thin evidence but not a negative.
The 1300m assignment last start was clearly beyond her. Genuine each-way overlay.

Cathcart Smash Repairs (Bm66)
The purest expression of the Bendigo Heavy winning profile. He won over this exact course and distance on Heavy 9 in July and has won 2 of his 3 starts on Heavy overall. Last start was over 1400m on Heavy 10 with 60.5kg - a distance and weight excuse.
64 at Geelong, also on Heavy. The problem is barrier 17 on a track where wide gates win roughly 3% on Heavy and midfield types are heavily compromised. Ability says top three; the draw says take the place.
Against her: 165 days off, no first-up win from two attempts, and no Heavy track start whatsoever on a surface where wet-proven runners hold a real statistical edge.
He ran a creditable fourth in stronger Bench.

Bendigo Mazda (Bm66)
The cleanest match for the Bendigo Heavy winner profile. Rasp draws barrier 2, maps forward and has genuine wet credentials — two wins from four heavy starts including a Heavy 10 success at Geelong under this identical 60.5kg.
She maps to race handy, which is close to mandatory at Bendigo on Heavy, and the substantial weight relief offsets the step from BM62 to BM66. The jockey booking is the query — Durnan is winless for the stable — which is why she rates each-way rather than the top selection.
He has a heavy win and placing from two starts on the surface, ran 3rd in a BM66 on Heavy 8 at Sandown two runs back, and gets class relief back to BM66 with Johnstone aboard, who is 3 from 4 at Bendigo. The barrier 12 draw in a full field is the reason he is ranked below the two inside-drawn wet performers — on a Heavy 8 Bendigo track, being caught wide is the most reliable way to get beaten.
