E Security Group (Bm64)
He won his only 1200m start on a Soft 6 racing on the speed, is first up where he has won 1 of 2, and drops significantly in class from Open company. Barrier 3 is ideal on this tight track. The concerns are real though: 61kg top weight in a bog and no heavy track experience.
The bubble cheeker on and lugging bit off is a purposeful change after he led and was run down at Kembla. The unknown is the Heavy 8, where he has no starts, and he remains a maiden. Each-way value.
The wet-track angle is the case here. She gets the bottom weight of 54.5kg, has already raced at Canterbury over this trip, and drops in grade.

Canterbury on rain-affected ground rewards inside draws and forward positions, which is exactly her pattern, and she has already handled Heavy 8 ground in Listed grade when wide without cover.
By class and wet-track evidence this is the best-credentialled runner in the race: a nose second in Open company at Randwick on Heavy 9 while racing handy, plus a Group 3 fifth. He has already been to Canterbury over 1250m for a third. The forward pattern and barrier 4 fit the on-pace bias perfectly.
Barrier 2 should let Schiller take up a much closer position than the smothered run first-up, which matters given Canterbury's leader bias holds strongly on wet ground.
Piedmont ran third on debut at this track over 1200m and did it the right way, sitting third throughout and holding her spot late, which is the profile Canterbury on rain-affected ground consistently rewards.

2026 Keeneland September Yearling Sale (Bm72)
The most reliable form line in a shallow BM72. He was placed at Canterbury over this exact 1900m trip a fortnight ago under a big 60kg, and drops 2.5kg tonight. His wet record reads two placings from two heavy-track starts, and his Rosehill second in BM78 off a midfield run stamps him as competitive above this grade. Consistent, race-fit, versatile tactically and suited by a slow tempo where he can sit on or near the pace.
Clearly the best-credentialled runner on class, with black-type experience and a 27% career strike rate. He won a Kensington BM72 on Soft 5 two starts back and drops back to that grade now with blinkers reapplied after a flat run. The reservations are real - 60.5kg top weight, no heavy-track form at all and untried at 1900m - which is why he sits second rather than first despite arguably the strongest raw ability.
The track-and-distance specialist of the race with two seconds from five attempts at Canterbury over 1900m. The concern is genuine: four heavy-track starts have yielded nothing, and he tends to settle further back than the Canterbury bias rewards.
His wet record is the best in the field - four wins from six soft-track starts plus a third on Heavy 8 - and he was third over this course and distance three weeks back after leading to the 400m. Canterbury's on-pace bias plus a slow tempo hands him control.

TAB (Bm72)
Barrier 1 and a proven 3rd-5th settling pattern fit a slow tempo on an on-pace-biased Canterbury heavy surface, and Waller/McDonald first up with two trials under her belt signals readiness. Quiet trials and a first-up record without a win are the only genuine reservations.
She is the only horse in the field with a win on heavy going, and she won over this exact course and distance last start, coming from a handy fourth to score. Barrier 4 and the on-pace bias suit again.
The most reliable place proposition in the race. He has already run second at Canterbury over the trip, handles rain-affected ground with a close-up fifth on Heavy 9 in stronger BM78 grade, and gets a genuine class drop today with Tim Clark retained.
The blinkers-off, visors-on switch could see her positioned closer, which is the one thing she needs on a track that punishes backmarkers. Each-way is the sensible structure given the pace and map risk.

Asahi Super Dry (Bm72)
He is the field's best wet-track performer with a win, second and third from five Heavy starts, plus a track-and-distance win. A fast tempo off four leaders sets up his closing pattern, and Clipperton is riding at 30% recently.
Wet-track credentials are the key on a Heavy 8 and Harry's Evidence has them, with a win and a second from two Heavy starts including a Heavy 9 win at Kembla. He won at Canterbury last start humping 60.5kg and gets 2kg relief here. He races handy without needing the lead, which is the ideal profile at this tight, short-straight circuit.
Rivendell won his only start on Heavy going and was still in front at the 400m over this course and distance a fortnight ago before tiring into fourth. He is only five starts into his career for Snowden with obvious improvement in front of him, and Tom Sherry knows him.
A genuine roughie profile rather than a likely winner. Cougars has placed at both his Heavy starts, including a third at Rosehill on Heavy 10 while racing wide, drops sharply in class from Open grade, gets in with the bottom weight of 55.5kg from the favoured inside draw and adds blinkers. His second-up record of a win and two seconds from three fits today.

Ranvet (Bm72)
The most credentialled wet-tracker in the race. Canterbury's heavy data actually rewards the 9-12 draws, softening the barrier concern. Best combination of proven wet form, class and speed.
The inside barrier is worth plenty on a rain-affected Canterbury and McEvoy is riding with confidence.
The safest place proposition in the race. The on-pace, grinding style is tailor-made for a tight, wet Canterbury.
His Heavy record - 4 starts for a win and two thirds - is the strongest wet profile in the field, and both Canterbury runs have yielded a win and a second.

Hyland Race Colours (Bm72)
He is second up again today, drawn 4, carries the lightest weight at 55.5kg, gets a first-time visor and a Hawkes/Gibbons combination striking at 24%. The plain first-up run on a Good 4 is easily excused given he was slow away and held up.
The reservation is real though: 4 heavy starts have produced no wins and no placings, and she has not saluted in 10 runs.
Wet-track substance and a light weight make her a genuine threat. The issue is tactical: she needs the race run to suit and the speed map projects a slow tempo around a tight Canterbury circuit where closers historically struggle. Ideal each-way material rather than a confident win proposition.
His track-and-distance record is 4 starts for a win, a second and a third.
