Pretty Morsel is comfortably the most credentialled runner in a weak maiden. Barrier 2 and 56kg are genuine assets on a Heavy 9 Naracoorte where inside gates dominate. The negatives are real: no heavy-track experience and a midfield-to-back map on a track where backmarkers are winless.

Barrier 3 and an on-pace map fit the Naracoorte leader-and-inside bias perfectly. The concern is that he emptied late over 1350m on Soft 7, and today he steps up 80m into a Heavy 9 carrying 58kg.
Road To The City brings the map advantage the race demands. He has the fence, genuine early speed and is race-fit off a third at Port Augusta only five days ago where he led and was collared late. At a track where leaders and inside gates dominate on Heavy going, that combination cannot be ignored. The obvious reservation is his one Heavy run produced a tailed-off 9th after leading, and 16 starts without a win marks him as a horse that finds trouble converting.
Barrier 4 sits in the favoured band, she carries 56kg, and the step to 1430m suits a mare who was clearly getting to the line. Only two starts means substantial upside remains untapped.

That form is at today's track, today's grade and today's surface, which nothing else can match. The Mt Gambier failure came at an unsuitable 900m on a Heavy 9 he could not handle. With one genuine leader and a slow tempo predicted, his early speed lets him park in the box seat from gate 5 on a track where on-pace runners from inside gates dominate.
However she is unproven on Heavy going and maps as a backmarker into a predicted slow tempo at a track where closers have been winning at under 3%.
Secret Owl is the lone confirmed leader from the best barrier in the field, and on a Naracoorte heavy surface where on-pace runners from inside gates hold a clear edge, that tactical advantage carries real weight. The blinkers-off, winkers-on change targets her tendency to over-race, which has cost her in the straight. The counter is that she has never met a Heavy track and has weakened in the closing stages of each of her last two.
The wide gate and closing pattern into a likely slow tempo are real risks, but they are exactly what has left her overpriced. Each-way value.

The most credible heavy-track form line in the race. Barrier 1 with the True rail suits the sharp inside bias here, and she maps to settle fourth in a slow-tempo race where backmarkers are winless. Consistency plus proven wet ability at the trip.
She is fit, consistent and class-proven.
Nine heavy starts have yielded a win and three placings, and five of her last ten runs have been top-3 - the most reliable recent line here. Barrier 7 is the drawback on an inside-biased circuit and she has no Naracoorte experience, which is why she rates third rather than higher, but the wet form is genuine and the grade drop suits.
The one genuine overlay in the race. She has won on Heavy and won a Restricted 54 at Penola when able to control the tempo. With one lone leader engaged and a slow pace predicted, she can settle on the speed from barrier 8.

Hansen Print Hcp (C1)
A wet-ground sire, barrier 3 and clear stamina edge offset the lack of Heavy experience. The small eight-horse field limits the risk of her settling too far back, and 59.5kg is the main query.
Ideally drawn and ideally suited tactically - gate one with an on-pace style is exactly the profile that wins on a heavy Naracoorte surface where leaders strike at 20% and backmarkers are winless. He arrives in career-best order with seven top-3 finishes from eight starts and a Soft 7 maiden win nine days ago. The 61kg topweight in a bog is a genuine handicap and he has never raced on Heavy, which is enough to keep him just below the top pick.
She maps beautifully with early speed from gate six at only 55.5kg, and has won first-up before. Against her is a 197-day break, a form line built almost entirely on Good tracks with no Heavy experience, and an unknown-quantity rider booking.

Transmac Freight Hcp (56)
This is a straight repeat of the race he won five weeks ago — same track, same 2000m trip, same Heavy going, same class, same rider. His record at this track and distance is 2 starts for 2 wins and he is 3 wins from 4 at the trip; every good run he has produced has come at 2000m on rain-affected ground. Barrier 4 lets Caboche take the same handy trail that had him in front at the 400m.
The most reliable place horse in the race. The problem is winning: one victory from 34 starts and a settling position around 10th on a track where backmarkers have not won all season. Back him to fill a placing, not to salute.
The value angle.

Elders Naracoorte (Bm64)
The most complete wet-track profile in the race. Gusty Way won over 1200m at Naracoorte on a Heavy 8 in July, beating Naralinga by a nose while conceding a similar weight profile, and holds a 5:2-1-1 heavy record. His last-start Mt Gambier flop came after being struck interference at the start on a Heavy 10 - excusable rather than a form collapse. Barrier 5 and a forward-midfield settle place him perfectly for a slow-tempo 1100m where on-pace runners inside dominate.
Barrier 1 is the best gate on a track with a sharp inside bias. He is not selected on top because 60kg on a Heavy 9 is a heavy impost, 1100m is sharper than his best trips, and from gate 1 with a back-half settling pattern he risks being trapped in a slow-tempo sprint. Clear place claims.
The wet-track form horse of the race on raw numbers, with five top-three finishes from six heavy starts and consistent efforts at BM64 and above. Her last two runs read better than they look - held up at Morphettville Parks and beaten only a length on Heavy 10 from gate 11. The reason she is not higher is pattern: from barrier 8 as a genuine backmarker into a slow, lone-leader tempo, she needs the race to fall apart.
Comfortably the classiest horse in the race - 30:7-6-5 with wins at Open level and a second-up win at Quorn under 62kg less than two weeks ago. Value each-way.

Fintegra Lending Solutions (Bm56)
He now meets easier company, has a heavy record of two wins and four placings from nine, and maps to control the tempo from barrier 7 at a venue where backmarkers are winless. Last-start failure came at a higher grade over further.
He beat Hasta La Prince and Exonumia over this precise track, trip and surface five weeks ago, and today's blinkers-off change restores the gear he carried that day - the blinkers went back on for both subsequent failures. Heavy going brings out his best with a win, a second and a third from four attempts. Barrier 11 is the clear obstacle at a track where wide gates struggle, so he needs Metcalfe to find cover early, but the winning formline here is the second-best in the race.
The safest place proposition in the field. He led and held on for third over this exact track, distance and condition on 24 July, and has now recorded six top-three finishes from his last 10. Barrier 6 and a forward map put him in the right part of a race that should be run at only a moderate tempo.
He owns three placings from four starts at this course and distance and three placings from four heavy-track outings, and drops to 55.5kg.
