Moama Bowling Club Mdn Plate
The step to 1200m suits.
The gelding operation, first-time winkers and inside gate 2 all point to a stable expecting improvement. What keeps him third is the combination of 145 days between runs, a total absence of wet-track evidence, and a settle-back-and-close pattern that Echuca's Heavy bias handles harshly. Class should still carry him into the finish.
This race is stacked with backmarkers - #2, #4, #8 and #9 all get well back - which leaves the lead almost uncontested. Spex is drawn 5 in Echuca's best barrier band and is the one credible runner who can control a moderate tempo on a Heavy 8 where on-pace types dominate sprint trips.

Remembering Mikaela Claridge Mdn Plate
The most credible form line in a thin Maiden. Wet ground is unproven and the layoff carries a lameness note, but the class edge and map advantage are decisive.
The class angle is the story - a filly who contested a Group 2 at Caulfield now meets country Maiden company. She is the only genuine leader engaged and Echuca's positional data on Heavy ground is emphatic that leaders dominate while backmarkers fail.
The overlay.

Border Inn Mdn Plate
The most complete wet-track case in a shallow maiden. Early-speed rank 2 from gate 7 should have her in the first four. The obvious risk is a fourth placing rather than a win.
The logical alternative to the top pick on the same Bendigo Heavy 10 formline. Barrier 3 is ideal.
The most exposed and reliable form line in the race, but also the least likely to actually win. Apache Sunrise has run into a placing seven times from 12 starts and finished within half a length at Swan Hill two runs back. Barrier 1 and a midfield map fit the Echuca heavy profile. Two things temper her: she has never raced on Heavy and the inside fence on a wet Echuca can be the slowest part of the track.
Applying the debutant proxy rule rather than penalising the absence of form. Busuttin & Young are a top-tier operation, they have engaged an in-form Jett Stanley who strikes at 21% at Echuca, and the filly gets in on the 55kg minimum from a favourable barrier 6. The Toronado-Lovani pedigree reads suited to 1400m with give in the ground. Each-way is the appropriate structure.

Busuttin and Young with Newitt second-up is a proven winning pattern and 57kg helps in the ground. The genuine risk is a first look at Heavy 8 from a backmarking position at a track where deep closers struggle, which is why confidence is measured rather than emphatic.
A four-year-old first-starter judged on proxy rather than penalised for absent form. Barrier 5 sits in the best-performing band at Echuca.
The one runner who can dictate. He led at the 800m and 400m on Heavy 10 at Moe last start and held third, and his three heavy-track starts have produced a placing.
The value angle. He should land around fourth, precisely the position winning a quarter of recent Echuca races, and Stanley strikes at 21% here.

Carlton Draught (Bm56)
He has placed at all four heavy starts and maps into the fourth-to-sixth range Echuca statistics favour most.
The most credible wet-track form in the race. The drop back to BM56 with Newitt aboard is the trigger; he needs luck from the back but is class above most here on wet ground.
Genuinely overpriced on last-start merit. Today he maps in the first three or four at a track where forward-of-midfield runners hold a clear statistical edge on heavy going, with Egan taking the ride at a 24% Echuca strike rate.

Hygain Edge (Bm56)
Echuca sprints reward on-pace types settling top three and she maps exactly there from gate 5 with only 56kg.
Against him: 61.5kg in a bog, gate 1 on a true rail where he can be buried in an even tempo, and a modest last-start effort at Geelong. Place cover is the sensible way in.
Nobody knows this circuit better. He maps to lead from gate 3 carrying just 55kg, and Echuca leaders win a quarter of their sprint races. The obvious caveat is age and a 7-from-84 career record, plus a disappointing last start.
Do It Now is the only runner with both a win and a placing on Heavy going, and she gets a clear rider upgrade to Rawiller, who is 15% for this stable. She was excusable first-up at Moe on a Heavy 10 from gate 12 and should improve sharply second-up at her right grade. The negatives are the wide draw and a map that has her settling back where Echuca has produced no winners.

Worklocker Echuca (Bm56)
But she is not the top pick because barrier 12 compromises a horse that wants to be forward, her most recent heavy attempt at Moe was a complete failure that earned a stewards' trial order, and she weakened badly when leading last start.
Holds the third-best combination of map and conditions form. Barrier 4 and a midfield trip keep him clear of the backmarker penalty that hurts here on heavy ground.
The most wet-proven runner in the race and the one whose map fits the Echuca heavy profile best. Barrier 8 sits in the best-performing gate band here and she settles handy without needing the lead.
The overlay of the race. His only heavy-track win, at Kilmore on Heavy 9, came leading throughout, which is precisely the profile Echuca rewards on this surface. The Heavy 10 failure at this track in June is the blot, but that was a bog surface and today's Heavy 8 is drying.

Bet365 Bet Boost (Bm56)
Her heavy record of 8 starts for 2 wins, a second and a third is unmatched here, and her June win at Wangaratta over 1170m on a Heavy 10 was with today's rider W Egan, whose 29% strike rate with Patrick Payne signals intent. The Wangaratta tenth is forgivable - wide without cover under 61.5kg. Gate 4 lets Egan take a handy spot, exactly the shape Echuca sprints reward, and she is back in grade at a level she has already placed in on Heavy 9.
He maps to control a moderate tempo from gate 7 with winkers added to help him focus.
The most reliable wet-tracker at the weights. Two wins from eight heavy-track starts and a Heavy 8 second at Donald confirm she relishes the going, and her third at Wangaratta six days ago showed she is race-fit and finishing off. The 56.5kg is a significant advantage against 61kg-plus rivals slogging through a Heavy 8, and gate 2 with Parish gives her the economical run she has lacked. Career strike rate of 9% caps enthusiasm, so she rates a solid each-way proposition rather than a win play.
The only runner in the field who has won at Echuca over this trip in these conditions - a Heavy 10 maiden win in June, coming from tenth at the 800m. Last start is excusable with a vet certificate issued after being slowly away and checked.
