Check One Two is the most reliable winning chance in a weak maiden. She has already placed over this Mackay 1560m trip on Soft 5, repeated the effort at 1600m on a Soft track, and comes off a close last-start fifth. Barrier 2 and her natural speed should keep her in the preferred on-pace zone.

His two career placings came over 2100m on Good tracks, not at today's trip on Soft.
Shefflin is hard to trust as a maiden after eight starts, but today's setup is more suitable. Returning to visors, drawing barrier 4 and stepping up to 1560m should help him finish better.
Hot Luci is overpriced in a below-average maiden. Her best career run came at 1600m on a Soft track when runner-up at Wyong, and she is now back to a genuine 1560m after an unsuccessful attempt over 1300m last start. Adam Sewell is riding confidently and has a good association with Lachie Manzelmann.

He trialled well enough on a Soft 5 surface, maps favourably from barrier 2, and has the strongest jockey engagement in the race. The absence of race experience is the obvious concern, but the overall profile points to a horse ready to win a very winnable maiden.
Proviseur is the best credentialled runner on exposed form despite being winless. The main negatives are his poor first-up record and a habit of beginning slowly.
Queen Of Russia showed enough in her only raceday start to suggest ability but failed to finish off when leading early at Newcastle. She returns to the stable environment in Queensland following a sharp trial win, and the winkers are a positive gear change.
She has repeatedly competed well in maidens, placed on Soft, and comes off a recent trial behind a decent Rockhampton line.

Lucky Lass is the most reliable formline in the race. She has been placed in all seven Mackay starts and was a strong second in the Mackay Open over 1300m in July before again placing at BM70 level last month. Barrier 4 allows her to settle handy on a Soft 5 that suits on-pace runners.
His Emerald Class 6 second three weeks ago also reads well. However, he has never raced at Mackay, was plain last start, and is likely to be ridden quieter from a wide map on a track that favours on-pace runners.
His main issue is map and weight: he is likely to settle last from barrier 7 on a track where backmarkers struggle, while carrying 60kg.
Me Time is a genuine Mackay specialist who was third-up today for a mare that has placed both previous times second-up. Her first-up run at 1100m was encouraging enough and she now steps to her preferred 1300m course and distance.

Tara I Am is the horse to beat on form. She has placed in every soft-track start and draws ideally in barrier 3 for Mackay, where on-pace runners from inside gates hold a clear edge. The main query is her 0-from-2 second-up record, but she is fit, progressive, and should be very hard to run down.
Lonhy's Fabre has the highest class ceiling in this race after placing in Open company at Mackay and Townsville. He is unbeaten at this course and distance from his sole start, and his recent trial suggests he has returned fit. The long 15-month gap remains a risk, as does a lack of meaningful soft-track evidence. If he reproduces his earlier form, this Class 2 assignment is clearly within reach from an advantageous map.
Emilia Jane is the proven Mackay performer in this field, having won here two starts ago before an forgive run in BM70 grade at Townsville. Back in Class 2 and ridden by a jockey with a strong Mackay strike rate, she is capable of using her race fitness to make an impact. The negatives are the rise to topweight, an untested trip over 1100m, and ordinary wet-track record, making her more a place chance than a confident win proposition.
Shipping Lane is a live each-way value runner. His only win came over 1100m and he has placed at the trip from just three attempts, while his recent trial win over Lonhy's Fabre signals he has come back ready.

Red Hot Lizzie is the clear form anchor on exposed Open level, having won last start at Cairns in a race that contained the two main dangers today. She is also 2-from-2 at Mackay, has wet-track wins, and Wiggins is an ideal rider for her. The negatives are real: first go at 1560m, 63kg, and a likely back-running pattern on a track where handy runners have an edge.
The mile is a slight query, but light weight, soft-track form, and a favourable Mackay map make her the clear second selection and the principal danger.
The Driller is an experienced stayer who produced a peak when winning a BM74 on a Soft 6 at Cairns two starts ago, then ran midfield in a 2100m Open. Back to 1560m with barrier 2 and only 54kg, he is well placed to sit closer and strike. The obvious negatives are his age and moderate Mackay statistics, but he is currently more reliable than the fading specialists and warrants inclusion as the place/rough place option.
He has strung together wins at 1600m at Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast, showing a handy, on-pace pattern ideal for Mackay's staying track bias. Barrier 5 and 54kg are pluses, and Nikki Olzard has a good association with him. The risk is his unproven soft-track record and the class rise into Open company, which keeps him outside the top three on win probability. Each-way value is fair.

Horse Of Year Exodas Hcp (55)
Supid Date is the strongest form/class play in this low-grade race. Her last three runs have been against Open and Class 3 opposition, including a third at Townsville and a third at Mackay. She maps to race just off the speed from barrier 5, which suits Mackay's on-pace bias, and she has genuine soft-track form. The knock is that she places more often than she wins, but the class drop into Restricted 55 gives her the best chance to break through.
He remains the main danger but is a place play rather than the top win selection.
Sujeed has the strongest overall form lines in this field, with multiple placings in BM60 and Class 4 races at Rockhampton before his spell. The class drop to Restricted 55 is significant, and his first-up record of one win from four starts suggests he can run well fresh. The concern is that he usually settles far back, while Mackay's on-pace bias makes backmarker wins harder.
Spec Of Silver is the value runner of the race. She has proven Mackay form, including a win over this 1200m trip, and was second in a Restricted 55 at Middlemount two starts ago. Ashley Butler is a major upgrade in the saddle, and from barrier 4 she can sit closer to the speed than she did when beaten at Dingo last time.

Racing Again Sat 12th September (Bm68)
Triple Triple is the obvious danger because his first Queensland start produced a fast-finishing second over 1050m at Rockhampton, where he was held up. Barrier 1 suits a wily on-pace ride and he drops 1.5kg. Wet-track wins indicate he will handle give, although he is yet to win on Soft and his pre-Queensland form was inconsistent. That keeps him behind Dalt Jaz, but he is still a strong place candidate.
Humble Hero is a progressive gelding whose Soft record reads 5:2-2-1 and who has won three of his past five official starts. He was last seen winning a Restricted 58 at Rockhampton over 1300m, with an Aug 26 barrier trial confirming fitness. The concern is the step up to BM68 and a career record without a 1100m win, which tempers confidence. He maps for an on-pace run and is a solid each-way threat rather than the top seed.
Strongest sustained form belongs to Dalt Jaz. His soft-track record (10:2-3-1) is acceptable, while Dalt Jaz has placed in two of four Mackay 1100m runs.
His last run over 1200m was poor, but the drop back to 1100m is the key form switch. S Cormack stays on after winning at the track and trip. The lack of a Soft win is the main reason he sits outside the top three.
