Bass Floor Plate (C1)
He has won once from nine, ran a shocker at Gosford last start, and draws the outside again.
Don's Party has the second-best recent Class 1 form in the race with his Hawkesbury second, and his maiden win was well above average. The distance rise may help him find a rhythm.
Meritage is the overlay. She is the only runner besides Tacitly with a Class 1 win at a staying trip, and that Wyong win over 2125m came on a Good track. Her two runs this campaign were in stronger Midway races over distances too short, and she finished off well at Gosford.

The clear class runner, dropping sharply from Group 1 and Group 2 company — including a narrow second in the Phar Lap Stakes — into a provincial maiden. Schiller is aboard and he has the inside gate.
The best recent form in the field. Second-up now and drawn to settle handy from gate three, with his yard and a strong trainer-jockey combination in form.
Has mixed it with good company as a two-year-old — a close third in the Baillieu over 1400m and a midfield effort in the Champagne Stakes. Second-up and out to a suitable trip, he should improve. But he was well held first-up after a wide trip, and the map is against him: he settles back from a wide gate on a track that rewards on-pace runners.

Waller filly who has finished second at both starts, and her Canterbury effort reads as the strongest piece of form in this field. The queries are the extra trip and a first look at a good track, but her class and speed should carry her a long way.
Waterhouse and Bott have her fit and Tim Clark rides, and she maps to be handy from the outset.
The most reliable mare in the race — seven starts for three seconds and four thirds, never out of a place. She was a sound third at Newcastle earlier in the year and has a second over this trip on her record, and she maps to settle in the first handful from a good gate. Second-up, she should be primed, but she has had plenty of chances to break through without doing so, making her a place and each-way play.
Improving filly who was beaten a nose at Taree last start after a closing fourth at Wyong, and she gets the ideal inside draw in barrier one. She races handy and the stable has found the right race.

New Era Technology Hurricane (Bm72)
Spartus is the only horse in the race winning at this class right now, and his last four runs have all been at or above a winning standard against similar opposition. The map is the key: Miss Trentino and Generous Harry will go hard early with others pressing, which should tow him into the race late. The Newcastle on-pace bias is a real caveat, but recent meetings have been kinder to closers and the pace scenario neutralises much of it.
Generous Harry is the pace horse best suited to Newcastle's tendency to reward on-speed runners over 900m, and he has already won here over the trip. His wins keep coming at BM64 level while he fails at BM72, which is a nagging pattern, and a hot early duel with Miss Trentino is not what he wants. Still, on a good track from a handy draw he is the one most likely to be in front at the 400m, so he is the logical each-way alternative to Spartus.
Miss Trentino gets the ideal Newcastle set-up: barrier 3, 57kg and the front. Her Canterbury run two back when leading was competitive at this class, and her last-start failure came after a poor start on a heavy track. The risk is that Generous Harry makes her work early in a very fast race, leaving her vulnerable to Spartus late. A place chance with upside if she can get a soft enough lead, but the unnamed jockey and declining form cap her at third.
Not Written Off is the overlay. She won her last two starts at Tamworth at BM74 and BM82, both against solid fields, and comes back to BM72 with a trial win under her belt. She draws inside and has the tactical speed to sit behind the leaders, which is exactly the profile Newcastle rewards over 900m.

NZB Tibbie Stakes
Rates the one to beat on form. Her two recent seconds at Stakes level are the strongest recent form in the field, and she has already won and placed at Newcastle over 1400m. The predicted fast tempo plays into her hands as a strong closer and her stable is going well.
However she led and was beaten last start, and with a second leader engaged the fast tempo could soften her. She remains a leading winning hope from the inside gate, but the closers may have her measure late.
She races handily and should get a good run from a middle gate.
The value runner. The wide gate is a genuine worry at Newcastle, but she settles handy and can finish over the top if she gets a clear run.

Sharp Office Newcastle Gold Cup
The one to beat. He has won all three runs this time in, including a smart city handicap over 2000m where he sat third and put them away. Draws nicely in five, settles fourth and carries the light weight, which suits a race likely to be run at a modest gallop. The step to Group 3 and 2300m is the query, but he is the best horse here on form and should be winning.
Flew home for fourth in the Wyong Cup on resumption, beaten under a length and running right up to her best. She settles in the first few and that style is a plus in a race where the tempo looks slow. The mare does not win out of turn on good ground but she places constantly and looks primed to peak second-up. Each-way claims are strong.
Ran a close third in the Wyong Cup and has been consistent without winning in stronger company. Waller and McEvoy is a potent combination and barrier two is a plus. The knock is his get-back style on a day that should favour on-pace runners, and he does not win often, so he looks the safest of the placings rather than a winning threat.
Won the 2400m Drinkwise Cup at Randwick last start, the best staying form line in this field, and has been consistently competitive in good company all preparation. He settles handy, which is precisely what Newcastle and the likely slow tempo favour, and he drops 2.5kg.
The value in the race. She was only two lengths off the winner over 2400m at Randwick last start and ran to a standard that none of her rivals have matched recently.

Newcastle Car And Truck Rental *big Dance Eligibility* Cameron Hcp
He steps sharply into Group company and has drawn wide, but he races handily and has the best recent form in the field. Hard to beat.
Second-up from a spell, he looks the likely leader and the moderate tempo plus Newcastle's front-runner lean suit him ideally. Drawn wide but his early speed should get him across.
Maps to settle right on the speed, which is where races are won at Newcastle over this trip. The class rise is the query and he is yet to salute on good ground, but the map gives him a genuine place chance.
The concern is racing pattern: he gets back and Newcastle rewards runners in the first three at the 400m. The recent run of meetings has been kinder to closers and the fast tempo helps, but he needs luck from the inside gate.
A genuine each-way player who has rarely run a bad race at this level. His first-up Show County third over a distance short of his best was a strong return and every run in the past year has been near a winning standard. The obvious problem is the widest alley of all. If Morgan can slot him into the second line early he maps to be right in the finish in a race where handy runners dominate, but the gate takes the win case down a notch.
Brings the best closing numbers in the race and a hot win rate, and his stable is flying. The concern is the map: he settles well back at a track that rewards forward positions, in a race unlikely to be run at a strong tempo.

Lees Racing (Bm64)
Red Rags To Bulls is the class runner of the field and the one they have to beat. She has won three times at 1500m, has saluted at Newcastle and lines up here out of far stronger F&M company, where she was beaten barely a length. With three genuine leaders engaged a genuinely fast tempo is likely, which plays right into her strength of finishing hard from off the pace. The wide draw and a modest record on good ground are the obvious knocks.
Shamedy is the value on form. He owns the best dry-track record in the race with six wins on good ground and comes here in excellent order, having charged home for second in Open company last start after being slowly away and forced wide without cover. He drops sharply in grade to a BM64 and draws to get the right run. The knock is that he is yet to win at 1500m and tends to settle a long way back.
Unbridled Storm is the emerging horse of the race. By Puissance de Lune and prepared by Chris Waller, he profiles as the type to keep improving. The class rise from a maiden to a BM64 and a wide draw are the question marks, but his closing style is well suited to what shapes as a hectic speed battle.
Drawn ideally in barrier two, he should settle in the forward division the Newcastle 1500m rewards.
