He ran to a winning standard that day and his earlier Flemington run was better again. Still the most likely winner, but staked accordingly.

Jarbardar's Caulfield second last autumn on a Soft 7 was the best run at today's track and distance by any horse here, and he had the better of a stakes-quality field that day. He has trialled up well with a jump-out win, gets in light and should settle in the first four, which is where Caulfield 1100m winners come from.
Aemond announced himself with a four-length Bendigo maiden win in blinkers on a Soft 6, leading throughout and holding a good tempo. The class rise is enormous and he will not get the lead uncontested, so each-way is the play.
Gin Twist is the class runner of the field as a stakes winner at Caulfield, and her first-up Flemington effort was sounder than the beaten margin suggests after she led in a hot tempo.

Sportsbet Jim Moloney Stakes
Pretty Baby has strung together four straight wins on soft tracks, capped by a runaway Listed win at Sandown where she ran to a standard no other runner here has matched. She has already accounted for two of today's rivals and handles 1400m. The main risk is her get-back pattern at a track that rewards forward runners, but her acceleration should overcome a moderate tempo from a middle gate.
Cherry Bomshell brings the strongest class credentials in the race as a Group 2 winner and was beaten only two lengths in another Group 2 last time. The concern is that her work this preparation has not reached her juvenile level, and her Furious fourth flattered slightly as she finished over beaten horses in a slowly run race. The step to 1440m is new but she is bred to appreciate it and her fitness curve points up at the third run in.
Platinum Pearl is the improver of the race. She is yet to win, but her two soft-track runs in maidens were run at a level that would have won those races with something to spare, and she showed on-pace versatility when leading at Seymour. Barrier 2 and a forward run style give her the ideal Caulfield map, and James McDonald taking the ride tells you the stable expects her to be competitive.
She was Listed placed on a Soft 5 at Doomben, her return under 61kg at Warwick Farm was a better effort than the bare fourth suggests, and she now drops to 56kg for Chris Waller with Damian Lane aboard. The stable has a strong record of improving fillies second up and this daughter of Wootton Bassett should relish 1440m.

Drummond Golf JRA Cup
The class runner of the race. His Heatherlie ninth was a genuine first run back after trials and the clock says it was a better effort than the finishing position, carrying a big weight over a trip short of his best. Now up to 2000m with a soft draw and a handy position on a track that rewards forward settlers, he holds the strongest Group-level credentials here.
This race is early on the card when the track is expected to be closer to Good 4, which helps. With 54kg, a good gate and Craig Williams, he should get a midfield sit and be finishing over the top of tiring leaders.
He failed at this trip here last time, pulling hard and finishing near last, and today he draws wide and gets back on a track that punishes that pattern over 2000m.
The obvious speed in the race and drawn to control it from barrier 2. He was beaten by better horses in the Flemington and Sandown races that preceded his heavy-track flop, and those efforts would have him competitive here.

Dominant Scarborough Stakes
The class rise is steep, but the way she went suggests she was always a stakes filly in a maiden.
The two negatives are obvious: she has not won a race and she is drawn widest.
The proven, honest Group-level filly of the race. She has placed in the Quezette here on soft ground and in the Cap D'Antibes since, and her racing pattern fits the on-pace lean at Caulfield. She has been finishing close to genuine quality fillies rather than beating them, which caps her win chance.
A value play built on the map. She is the quickest beginner in the race, draws inside and should get an uncontested lead at a moderate tempo on a track that rewards on-pace runners. Her only prior Caulfield start was a win on rain-affected ground from a forward position, and the Flemington failure came from a wide gate under pressure.

Ladbrokes Feehan Stakes
She is the only natural leader in a small field, the predicted slow tempo hands her control, and Caulfield strongly rewards front-runners. Her autumn campaign produced the best form in this field, capped by a Group 2 win and a Group 1 second at the Gold Coast and Doomben. She is the horse to beat.
A wet-track specialist with a superb Caulfield record who should sit second behind Pride Of Jenni and be the main danger if she wobbles late. His Memsie second on soft ground was very good, but the Makybe Diva flop where he faded from second was a warning about his age.
Her overall profile is the strongest in the race, with an elite strike rate and unbeaten record at Caulfield over the mile on soft ground. However, she collapsed badly in the Makybe Diva after leading, so she must bounce back sharply. The map is kind, drawing barrier one with a sit behind the two leaders. The in-form stable and a rider who has won on her are positives.
The overlooked runner.

MSC Signs Stutt Stakes
She settles forward from a good gate in a race with one genuine leader and a slow tempo, which is where Caulfield winners come from, and she gets the fillies' allowance. The new rider and the stable's Caulfield record are the concerns, but the form case is clearly the strongest.
Somethings Burnin' ran the second-best race of the locals in the Moroney, storming home from near last to finish within a length and a bit of Lara Antipova. He is wet-track proven and the extra distance looks ideal for a Too Darn Hot colt. The problem is the map: a lone leader and slow tempo at Caulfield is poison for horses coming from the back, and he has never beaten a field of this quality.
Diameter is in the top three on connections and class exposure rather than on what he has done this spring. He has been beaten two lengths and three-and-a-half lengths in two runs, finished behind three of today's rivals at Flemington, and is winless on soft ground.
Obambulate is the overlay in this race. He has never been beaten on rain-affected ground, has already won at Caulfield, and will get a lovely run just behind the leader from barrier 5 in a race likely to be run slowly.

Ladbrokes Stocks Stakes
The class mare of the race. She has already won a Group 2 over the mile, and her last-start fourth at Flemington was run at a genuine winning standard against stakes horses. The map is ideal: a single leader, a slow tempo, and she draws to sit just off it from barrier 4 at a track that rewards forward settlers. The wet-ground question is real but the surface is only expected to be a Soft 5.
The improver. Three wins on the trot, the latest a strong performance under a big weight on rain-affected ground at Sandown, and she is proven on soft tracks. The worry is tactical: she will settle near the rear in a race with one leader and a slow pace, at a track where backmarkers struggle.
The nose defeat in the Let's Elope was a big run, coming from last and in her first run back, and she is a proven second-up and wet-track mare. That profile reads well for a Group 2 mile on soft ground. Against her is the map: a wide gate, a get-back style and a likely slow tempo at a track where closers rarely get there.
The map horse. She is the only one who wants to lead, the pace is likely to be slow, and leaders have been winning more than their share at Caulfield lately. Her second-up record is outstanding, she has placed at Group level over the mile, and she carries the minimum with Craig Williams aboard.

Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes
Beiwacht controlled the Memsie from the front at this track on soft ground and won by three lengths, a run of genuine Group 1 quality. Dropping back to 1200m suits a horse with his early speed, and from barrier 3 he should lead at a tempo he dictates. Second-up seconds and the lack of a 1200m win are the queries, but the class and track fit justify the favouritism.
A Caulfield specialist who handles the wet and has genuine Group 1 credentials. The first-up Memsie run was disappointing, but that was over 1400m and he has a strong record of improving second up. Dropping to a sprint trip with a jump-out under his belt he should be sharper. The concern is settling too far back on a track that rewards forward runners, so he needs a fair tempo.
An improving four-year-old whose Missile Stakes second was one of the best sprint performances in this field this preparation. He has placed twice in three soft-track runs, including a Group 1 third in the Doomben 10,000, so the going is not a barrier. Each-way.
My Gladiola won the Moir on a soft track three weeks ago, beating several of these, and she has been consistently competitive in top sprints all year. The step to 1200m is the query as her best form is over shorter, but with the tempo expected to be moderate she should sit closer than usual.

Sportsbet Testa Rossa Stakes
Buccleuch's last two wins on wet tracks at Sandown were clearly the strongest efforts in this field, achieved under big weights, and he now drops to 57kg. His only Listed try at Caulfield was a fair sixth before this improvement. The class rise and wide gate are legitimate concerns, but his rain-affected record and rising trajectory make him the most likely winner.
Run Harry Run brings genuine on-pace credentials to a track and distance that rewards that style. His Tontonan Stakes run was sound in Listed grade, and his Rosehill win on soft ground shows he handles the conditions. With Mark Zahra aboard from a mid gate and a weight drop, he should settle in the first four and be hard to run down.
Harry's Yacht is a Caulfield 1400m specialist and his closing effort in the Heath over a short trip was full of merit. A jump-out win since confirms fitness. The concerns are a poor second-up record and a racing pattern that will have him near the rear on a track where leaders hold sway.
He led throughout to win last start and only has Regal Zeus, who is in poor form, as a rival for the front. Leaders win a high share of races at Caulfield and his wet-track record is unmatched here.
