Imminent Appeal has run to a winning standard at both starts, handled a Soft 5 last time and won a Doomben trial on similar ground. He should settle handy from an inside gate in a moderately run race and finish over the top of the leaders.

Zephyr Song is the obvious on-pace danger. She has placed at both Doomben starts over this distance and should control the race from gate 2 with only a first-up rival likely to press her.
Dun Darte Cheap is the overlay in the top group. He led and held on well at the Sunshine Coast last start in a race run to a winning standard, and he should get a soft trail behind Zephyr Song from gate 6. He has coped with soft ground before and the shorter trip helps a horse that has been caught late over 1400m. His non-winning record and past setbacks keep confidence modest.
Both his runs have been on a Soft 5 and both were better than the finishing positions suggest, including a close fourth at Murwillumbah where he raced forward. The Laming and Palmer combination is going well and gate 5 should land him in a handy spot.

Pircsa (Bm68)
The Gollan yard is in strong form. Distance is unproven and he is a low-percentage winner, but on form he is the one to beat.
She is not the top pick because she rises 3kg, gets back in her races on a track that punishes backmarkers, and the lone-leader map makes a swooping win harder. Her soft-track record is also thin.
Power Of Success is the map horse: the only genuine leader, on a track that favours front-runners, in a race expected to be run slowly. He arrives in good form with a Dalby win and a narrow Toowoomba second, and gets in light. The concern is class. His country form has not been run to a standard that wins a metropolitan BM68, his soft-track record is thin and he tends to race keenly. Well placed to run into the placings if he relaxes in front.
His last-start failure at Eagle Farm came with clear excuses, over-racing and caught wide when the pace slackened. He is a proven soft-track stayer who has already won at BM70 level, and he will be handy in the run.

He drops sharply in grade, draws inside and is the quickest to begin, so he should lead a slowly-run race on a track that heavily favours leaders.
She returns to a distance range that suits after a pleasing third over 1350m at this track. The negatives are the map, with a slow pace likely and backmarkers struggling here, and a jockey who does not win often at Doomben.
He has failed to place in two soft-track starts, tends to over-race, and in most recent runs has been well back at the 400m, which is a losing position at this track in a slowly-run race. His recent form has been solid rather than dominant.
He gets the rails draw, a light weight and a jockey who has already won on him.

Silver Wolf Projects Mdn Plate
Tiny Light has won both trials in a manner nothing else in this race can match, and the Gollan and Youngberry combination is a potent one. The wide gate is the main risk at a track that rewards inside speed, but the claim helps and the stable clearly expects a bold debut.
The lesser-fancied Gollan debutant but the one with the better map. Ready Set Tergo draws the rail side, has placed in two trials including one on a soft surface, and his Gold Coast trial time reads well against the rest of this field. Should be prominent from the gate on a track that favours forward inside runners.
Cavalluna trialled soundly at Doomben and comes from a stable that gets debutants ready. Martin Harley knows him from the trial and the partnership with the Munce yard is a productive one. Should be competitive for a place if he settles forward from a middle gate.
Threeeyedwitch is the proven form runner. He has placed five times from seven starts, including third here over 1200m, and his Eagle Farm effort in August was good enough to win a race like this. He races on the pace, which is the way to go at Doomben. The wide draw and the fact he keeps finding one or two better are the concerns, but he is the safest of the exposed horses for a place.
Jolayna Dash is the one exposed horse in the race and her last-start fourth at Doomben, after being hampered early, was the best race run this field has produced. She drops in weight, draws the fence and should get a clear run second up. The worry is she gets back on a track that favours leaders and her one wet start was poor.

InsureBuild Plate (C3)
Her two recent Doomben seconds were the strongest efforts in this race and she was desperately unlucky last start in a stronger grade. Dropping into Class 3 with an on-pace pattern suits the track's forward bias.
A talented mare joining a strong stable, and her wet-track record is the best in the race. The light weight and class relief are real positives and she maps handy from gate six. Against that, she is resuming from a long break off a quiet trial and her recent Sydney runs were only fair.
Has the ability to win a Class 3 and two starts back produced a run good enough to be competitive here. The problem is his pattern. He settles back and Doomben punishes horses coming from behind, especially with only a moderate tempo expected. A top-class rider from a good gate could improve the map, and he handles soft ground.
She is the quickest away in the race, drawn to lead from gate five, and Doomben sprints are won from the front more than anywhere else. Her Doomben Class 3 win earlier this year was a genuinely strong effort and she has a clear wet-track record.

Johns Lyng Group (Bm78)
His last two runs, a close second in a Bm78 at Eagle Farm and a length third in a Bm85 here over this trip, are a clear cut above anything else in the field at this class. He drops back in grade, draws the inside and handles rain-affected ground, with two wins from five on soft. The only real worry is a tardy start, but at his best he wins this.
That is hard to ignore, but he is rising from Class 3 Plate grade into a proper Bm78, he has never won on a wet track, and as a get-back type he relies on a fast-enough tempo at a course that rewards on-pace runners. His last two wins were sound rather than dominant.
Italian Dancer is the overlooked runner in this field. He has won three of his last four, handled a Soft 5 emphatically at the Sunshine Coast, and his last-start second from in front was the best recent effort in the race relative to the standard. He maps to roll along in the first two from a good gate with only 55.5kg, exactly the profile that wins at Doomben.
Hell To Pay is the best wet-tracker in the race and drops back from a Bm85 where he led and only faded late. His April third in a Bm78 over this exact course and distance was up to winning standard, and his overall soft and heavy record is superior to anything else here.
Celestial Blaze is the value runner. His first-up flop looks forgivable given the vet found a slow recovery, and he has a proven pattern of improving sharply second up with two wins from three. He drops a significant amount of weight, has won twice at this track and trip, handles soft ground and is the quickest beginner in the race at a course where leaders win at a high rate. If he lands in front with a soft enough lead he can hold off the backmarkers.

ARC Projects Hcp (C1)
She has run a placing or better in four of five starts and her recent Gold Coast win was the strongest recent effort in this field. Tony Gollan and Ben Thompson are both in red-hot form.
Savage Sequel is the most likely leader and draws perfectly for a track that rewards on-pace runners from inside gates. The concern is the size of the class jump and an untested soft-track record, with a modest jockey booking.
Drinkwater put it together last start when allowed to lead at Gold Coast and the performance was strong for the grade. He has the tactical speed to cross from the middle gate and be in the right spot at Doomben.
Conformity is the each-way value. The draw and her back-marking style are wrong for Doomben and she has had a long gap between races, which caps confidence.
