Low Key is the clear form horse. Her narrow second at Kensington first-up was a genuinely strong performance, well above the level normally needed to win a Sydney maiden, and she did it racing on the pace, which is exactly the pattern that wins at Rosehill. Drawn to settle handy again, with Tim Clark aboard, she only needs to see out the extra distance.

Snitzel's Girl is the best of the closers. Her Canterbury fourth was a solid effort for a filly still learning her craft, and her heavy-track third on debut showed toughness. The map is the key. With two leaders likely to go hard, the race should fall apart late and she gets the inside draw and James McDonald to take advantage.
Iommi is the pick of the on-pace runners. His Canterbury fourth was better than the bare result after being knocked around early and ridden quietly under instruction, and he ran the race out well. Today he can revert to his natural leading role from a mid draw, with Nash Rawiller riding at a high strike rate. Rosehill has rewarded leaders recently and he is fitter second-up on good ground.
Unhinged is the value in the race. On form he is the second-best horse here, with two recent runs at or above the level normally needed to win a metropolitan maiden. He was held up when narrowly beaten at Kensington last start and has already run a winning-standard race over this exact trip.

Affari has run to a winning standard in metropolitan maidens and her Canterbury second a fortnight ago, after being knocked about at the start, was the strongest recent effort among these. She has proven form at the trip, draws to sit in the ideal spot behind a lone leader and gets James McDonald, who has an excellent record for the stable.
His two trials this preparation have been sound and Nash Rawiller, riding at a high strike rate, stays on from a Rosehill trial second. From barrier 3 he should settle third or fourth behind a lone leader, which is where Rosehill sprint winners come from. The extra distance and a long gap between races are the risks.
Shanti was beaten a nose and a head on debut at Hawkesbury and the run was of winning quality. Today she is the lone leader in a race short on early speed at a track where front-runners have dominated on recent evidence. She should cross from barrier 8 without a fight and dictate a moderate tempo, making her very hard to run down.
She is the quickest beginner here and from barrier 5 can take up a forward position behind Shanti on a track that rewards on-pace runners.

Asahi Super Dry (Bm72)
Assessed on form alone, Anthropoid stacks up as the most likely winner. He gets in light at 55.5kg with James McDonald from a good gate.
Concrete Storm has won two straight over 1400m, gets barrier 1, 54.5kg and a positional profile that fits Rosehill perfectly. Yet his form is BM64 form, he beat Stallone by only a nose while receiving 5kg, and his best effort falls short of what Anthropoid has already produced at this level. Save rather than back to win.
Stallone is the class-proven older horse in the top three. He was a nose off Concrete Storm carrying 5kg more at Hawkesbury and then held his own in a BM72 over a mile last week. His good-track record is the best in the race and his connections are flying. The obvious problem is barrier 10 on a track that punishes wide draws, and he may need to work early to cross Azarax.
Oakfield Utah is a serial winner with five wins from eight, and he handled 61kg to win last start. He has won at 1400m and his last two wins were up to a winning standard for that grade. The step to a Sydney BM72 with top weight is the question, but barrier 3, a handy racing pattern and McEvoy give him every chance to run into the placings.

Quayclean (Bm78)
His second here over this trip last start was the standout recent run in the field, and he thumped Golden Century that day. He is honest rather than brilliant, and a slowly run race from a rear position is the risk, but in a seven-horse field Lloyd can sit closer than the map suggests.
The map is ideal: he can stall the race sitting second behind County Kilkenny with McDonald aboard, and his August Randwick effort was as good as anything in this field. Against that, he weakened tamely here last time in a similar setup and has a habit of hanging when it matters.
The improver in the race. He has strung together a win at Newcastle and a competitive third in BM72 grade and looks to be reaching his peak. The class rise is the obvious question, but he has shown he handles a strongly run staying race and the inside draw with McEvoy gives him every chance to be in the right spot. A sound place proposition rather than a horse to back to beat the top two.
He ran within a length of Spenzalot at Newcastle and now meets him on much better terms, with a light weight and an inside gate that should see him land in the first few in a race likely to be run slowly.

United Resource Management (Bm72)
His Newcastle win over 1850m was the standout performance in this field, done on-pace with authority. The class rise from a Plate is nominal given his history.
The clear overlay in the race. Barrier 2, the sharpest early speed in the field and a moderate tempo give him the ideal Rosehill setup where on-pace runners hold sway.
The strongest form horse who does not suit the map. Her first-up third at Kensington was a fine effort held up when it mattered, and her recent runs collectively rate as the best in the field. The problem is she settles last or near it at a track where the pace-riders dominate, and a moderate tempo won't help.
Barrier 4, 54kg and Zac Lloyd riding for Waller at his best track all help, and she should settle in the midfield spot that Rosehill rewards.

Alinta Energy (Bm72)
She has won her last two, the second of them at this level over many of today's rivals while overcoming a poor start and no cover. She handles good ground, has a helpful barrier and a fast tempo to run into, and Schiller is two from two on her.
Miles Of Glory was desperately unlucky not to win at Newcastle first-up, storming home from the tail over this trip, and that run stacks up as one of the better efforts in the race. She strips fitter second-up, a stage she thrives at, and the predicted hot tempo is tailor-made for her closing style.
She has not raced since mid-June and her two trials were unremarkable, no rider is declared, and she gets back in a race and on a track that has been kind to leaders. The fast tempo and inside draw give her a genuine chance, so she rates a place hold rather than a win investment.
Varuni is a mare with a real winning habit who has slipped under the radar after one flat run at Kensington. Before that she had won two straight, both at a level of performance that would put her right in this race, and her record at 1300m is outstanding.

Gremmo Homes (Bm72)
He gets a lovely draw this time and the two front-runners should ensure a genuine tempo for him to finish over.
Metallic Cat has the best raw ability in the race, with all three starts run to a standard that would win this. She is a natural leader at a track where leaders dominate. The problems are the awkward wide draw with another leader inside her, the long break since April, and a first look at Good ground.
He has placed seven of nine times at Rosehill and the anticipated fast tempo will suit him sitting midfield from gate 8.
Andale Andale is a genuine overlay at 23. She has won six of 11 starts, three of them in a row before the break, and her Tamworth Showcase win over this trip was of a standard that would be competitive here. She draws well, has an unbeaten partnership with her rider and won fresh last preparation.
