Form-wise she is a close second to Blue Valentine. She is not selected on top because she will be back in the field on a track where backmarkers are at a disadvantage, and the moderate pace may not suit.

Hygain Racetorque Mdn Plate
A reliable type who has been placed several times without winning and is drawn to get a handy trip from barrier 2. Her recent runs sit close to the winning standard, and the lighter weight helps against the geldings. The stable form is poor and her best placings came on synthetic, but this is a fairly open maiden and she's capable of going one better.
The map lacks a proven leader and Echuca rewards on-pace runners, so she should find the front group even from a wide gate. She has never won, and the barrier plus the unnamed jockey keep confidence modest.
With no obvious leader and a handy barrier, he can control the race from the front.

Suzi Luck Memorial Mdn Plate
The most reliable profile in an open maiden: placed in five of seven, including a close second at Caulfield Heath and a solid second at Ballarat, and she has trialled sharply twice since a break. She jumps, travels and has the speed to cross from the wide gate and sit outside the leader, which is exactly where Echuca winners come from. Repeat any of her best runs and she wins. The draw is the only real niggle.
A three-year-old filly with the best class reference here, having contested a Magic Millions two-year-old feature and then run a fine fourth at Geelong where she travelled like the winner before peaking late. She gets 4.5kg from the older boys, lands the inside gate and warmed up with a jump-out win. She has had excuses in each run and looks ready to break through, though she must begin cleanly to hold a handy spot.
He then failed at Seymour with a breathing issue, and the gear changes suggest that is now managed. The concern is the map — he settles midfield and Echuca winners overwhelmingly come from on-pace, so he needs luck to get clear at the right time.
The clear form pick. He has been running to the best standard in this maiden, placing in three of five and twice narrowly beaten this preparation, and his on-pace style fits a track where forward runners have a clear edge over 1200m. Barrier 17 reads worse than it is given the flat draw profile at Echuca sprints. Hardest to beat.
She showed real ability on debut, running on well from the tail after a slow start and a green display.
He trialled well enough at Wangaratta and gets blinkers and a lugging bit for his first start, which points to him being ridden handy from an inside gate.

Moama Bowling Club Mdn Plate
Ran home strongly for second over 1000m at Moe last start and should improve again second-up now gelded with the headgear removed. He maps to settle just off the speed, and Echuca's sprint course strongly favours horses racing handy. The draw is a touch wide but there is no real inside-draw edge over the short trip, so it matters little. Consistent, genuine, and the one to beat.
She is a well-bred sprinter and, with no real inside-draw advantage over Echuca's 1000m, the wide gate is manageable.
Improving gelding whose last two runs say he is close: he closed hard for fifth at Cranbourne and made good ground at Sale. The concern is his get-back style on a sprint course where on-pace runners dominate, so he will need luck and a strong finish.
He was then caught wide without cover over 1200m last time, a run worth forgiving.

Ashwood Football Club Mdn Plate
Improving three-year-old who pushed forward and was only worn down late over 1550m last start, sticking on well after racing keen. From gate three he should settle right behind the lone leader in a race that looks slowly run, and that is the spot that wins at Echuca. The rise to 2100m is the query, but his recent runs suggest he is looking for it.
Has the best piece of track-and-trip form in the race, beaten half a length over this course and distance two starts back when closing stoutly. The concern is a plain effort in blinkers at Ballarat last time and no rider is listed in the form, which is a genuine unknown.
The clear form pick on what they have run — her three efforts from 1200m to 1765m were the strongest in this field and she has improved with each start. Bobbin's stable is flying and she gets weight off the older males. The knock is the map: she gets back and draws wide in a race with one leader and a slow tempo, so she needs a genuine gallop and some luck in running.
Lightly raced four-year-old whose second over 1717m at Sale two runs back is good enough to be competitive here. He was slowly away and never travelled last start, and before that he knuckled at the start on the synthetic, so both recent runs can be excused.

Rich River Party Hire (Bm56)
The clear class runner. He drops out of much stronger provincial and city company, has already won over this exact trip at Echuca, and maps to settle right on the speed in a race that lacks genuine tempo. Rawiller retains the ride and rides the horse well. The knock is the 62kg top weight and a modest strike rate, but he has been carrying big weights and placing in far stronger races than this.
She produced the best run of any horse here last start, charging home from last to be beaten half a length in stronger company. She is improving, drops back in grade and has the early speed to settle closer if asked. The wide draw and a slowly run race are the concerns for a mare who tends to get back and need luck.
The reliable on-pacer of the field. From gate five he should land in the box seat behind a slow tempo at a track that strongly favours runners settling in the first few. He has placed at Echuca over this trip and rarely runs a poor race, finishing second in stronger grade last start. The obvious knock is a lone win from 32 starts, so he is best played each-way.
The value runner. His past two starts are the strongest in this line-up, a comfortable maiden win followed by a close second in stronger class, and he is lightly raced and still improving. He does settle a long way back and will need the slowly run race to play into his hands late.

Border Inn (Bm56)
The mare is the only true leader in the field and can dictate a moderate tempo from a good draw. She won over 1400m last start and has a strong record at the distance. Echuca favours on-pace runners, so she can be hard to run down.
The mare has the best BM56 form line in the race, winning at Wodonga and running third last start. She gets a handy 3kg claim and comes from a stable with a strong Echuca record. The step up to 1400m is a question, but she settles close enough to the speed to handle it.
The mare is a consistent type who ran a good fourth over 1400m at Wodonga and gets one of the best Echuca jockeys. Barrier 5 and a midfield run style suit the race shape. She lacks winning flair, but her regular finishing efforts keep her in the finish at this level.
The gelding can be forward from barrier 2 and comes from a stable in strong form, with a good record alongside this jockey. His recent efforts were in stronger company than this, and he showed a good turn of foot to win last-to-first on Good ground.

Carlton Draught (Bm56)
The best form in the race. He was only collared late at Mildura against a better class, then won at Strathalbyn and Pooncarie. Barrier 1 gives him the option of a handy spot or a cheap trip off a hot pace. Strong on Good ground and over this trip, so he is the most likely winner on form.
A genuine on-speed mare drawn well on a track where that is the best way to win. She drops in class and gets in light. A flat last run when pushed up under 62kg can be forgiven, and her earlier Wagga run showed she can finish strongly. The hot tempo is a risk, but she can sit just off the speed. A sound place chance with win claims.
A consistent mare who won well at Wodonga on Good ground at this class. She should settle midfield from a good gate and take advantage of a hot pace. The problem is 63kg, much more than usual, which makes it hard to rate her above the top two.
Has one win from 20, but he has run a lot of seconds and thirds. He is a course and distance winner on Good ground and he trialled a winner at Echuca last month. He gets a drop in class and a nice draw.

bet365 Same Race Multi (Bm56)
The most likely winner on what he's shown lately. He drops back to this grade, can take a handy position off a hot early tempo, and has a stable/jockey pairing going well. The query is both wins have come with give in the ground, but his good-track placing says he handles it.
An honest on-pacer who has placed in three of his last five, doing the work up front each time. He gets the inside gate, won a recent trial and should stalk the speed from a handy spot. The knock is that he's yet to win over 1000m and can be found wanting late, and he returns from a long spell, so he's more a place than a win proposition.
She maps as the likely leader on a track where being on the speed is a clear plus, and she handles good ground. The concerns are a big step up from maiden company into a handicap and a wide alley for a leader, with plenty of early speed engaged to pressure her.
A proven 1000m campaigner taking a drop in grade. His on-pace style suits a track that rewards speed, and his two most recent runs can be forgiven - he was caught wide both times. His best effort this preparation was a fighting second at this level.
