Grey Belief is the best map fit in a race with only one true leader, and it has been racing in tougher Plate company at 1600m. It runs into a Maiden with a strong class edge, and Orange rewards runners who are handy at the 400m.

Kojak is a regular placegetter that nearly won over this trip at Wellington, and it should settle handy from a good draw on a track that favours that.
Alideel is well mapped to sit just off the leader at a track that rewards forward runners, and its recent runs have been consistent without ever winning or placing. It lacks a winning edge but should be in the finish, and the jockey's local record helps.
Aphelion drops sharply in class and has run some good races over 1600m against Plate horses, including a strong third at Narromine. A genuine each-way chance as the value runner.

Pirtek Orange Hcp (C1)
Macaroon was the eye-catcher here last start, weaving through traffic and letting down strongly to win over 1300m. She is a progressive mare from a powerful stable who should settle closer from a good gate over the extra trip.
The Contractor has the most relevant form for this race - a close third in a Class 2 over 1400m last prep where he did everything but win. He drops in grade, is third-up stepping to his best distance, and maps to sit prominently in what projects to be a slowly run race, which suits this forward-favouring track. Top weight and his inability to win on good going are the knocks, but he is a strong place prospect.
Dundeel Flyer resumes her prep with a solid second over 1200m and brings the best single run in the field from her maiden win. She is consistent and honest, but she has yet to place at 1400m and her racing pattern has her settling in the midfield, a spot that historically struggles here because of the short run home. A genuine top-three hope but the map makes her vulnerable.
He broke through over 1400m last start, racing in a handy position and running to a solid standard, and he draws the inside again for a stable with recent winners.

Orange Vet Hospital Mdn Plate
He battled on well at Orange last start after a wide, uncovered trip, so he should improve from barrier 1. The jockey's Orange record is weak, but the form and map outweigh it.
She is a model of consistency, with two seconds and three thirds from seven starts. Her Orange third last start came after a trail behind the speed and a tight passage late. She should map just behind the leaders from barrier 3. She is better suited to a place than a win.
He ran home strongly last start after being slowly away, and a better start from barrier 4 could put him in the first few. Winona Costin does well at Orange. The stable's poor strike rate and his earlier wayward manner keep him below the top two.
She is the only horse with the early speed to lead, and leaders have the best record on this short-straight track. She ran fourth in a stronger race last start and drops in grade. Her fade late is a concern, but a moderate tempo should let her control things.

Eddy The Greyt ran a strong third at Orange over this trip last start, finishing off well after being caught wide. He maps to sit on or just behind the speed, which is the best place to be at Orange, and he is well ahead of most rivals on recent form.
Isle Of Wight is a fresh horse with a winning trial behind him and decent connections, but his race form so far has been well below the best of this field. He settles midfield in a race where being handy matters. Eddy The Greyt looks superior on actual racing form.
Nightwalker is a very consistent placegetter who has repeatedly run into minor placings without ever winning. He gets a light weight, should be on pace, and has a track record at Orange. Those factors make him a solid place chance, but his winless record makes him hard to trust for the win.
Aerialize is a three-year-old filly whose performances have been as good as nearly anything in this field, including a near-miss at Corowa and a gallant wide run at Narromine. The trainer's poor strike rate and the awkward barrier are concerns, but she is the best value to run into the placings or even win.

Australian National Field Days 22nd -24th Oct (Bm58)
She has been consistent at Bm58 level, won in this grade recently and ran well last start after being badly checked. She should be handy off the speed in a slow race on a track that rewards runners racing forward.
She has the barrier and the speed to park just behind the lone leader in a slowly-run race, which is the best scenario at this track. Dropping in class, with the blinkers off, there is plenty to like.
The concern is the map: she settles back in a slowly-run race on a track where backmarkers struggle. If there is any real tempo she can finish into a place, but I see her more as a placing chance than a winner.
He is the only genuine leader, and in a race likely to be run slowly at a track that rewards front-runners he has the best map.

Bank Orange (Bm58)
Take The Chance is the horse the Orange mile wants. She can lead from barrier 4 in a race with no established leader and a moderate tempo, and she did exactly that last start at Leeton, winning a boosted BM58 over 1600m on good ground.
Ferrari Man is the course specialist. He has two wins and a second from four Orange starts, all at 1600m, and his pattern is to roll forward and hold a spot. A 1.5kg claim leaves him near the bottom of the weights with Glenn Cahill aboard.
Naval Officer brings the best recent graded form. Eleven days ago he flew late to miss by a nose in a BM66 at this track and distance, and he now drops to a BM58 with Deon Le Roux's claim. He still belongs in the quinella if the leaders give him any room in the short straight.
Dunna Runna is the overlay. One unit each-way covers a map that is live if he begins cleanly.

Spanline Orange & Bathurst Country Boosted (Bm50)
The class runner of the field after mixing it in open two-year-old company last preparation, and she has more early speed than anything else engaged. She led and was only collared late in a stronger C1 at Queanbeyan before a freshen-up, and now drops to a BM50 with the claim bringing her down to 57kg. The wide gate and the presence of other speed are the queries, but the short Orange straight is made for a horse like her.
He drops to a BM50 and gets a 2kg claim, and the predicted hot tempo should bring his strong finish into play. The knock is that he gives away a big start on a track where leaders and on-pace runners dominate.
She maps to lob into the box seat or outside the leader, which is exactly where you want to be at Orange, and she drops out of stronger country sprints into this grade. Her last run was a forgive when posted three deep the whole way. The concern is that she is yet to win on good ground and has been run down when leading, so she needs the trail rather than the front.
He is the most talented horse in the race on what he has produced recently, and he drops out of stronger country sprints with a 3kg claim taking the sting out of the top weight. Fresh last preparation he rolled forward and was in the firing line a long way from home, which is a better map than his wide gate suggests.
