She ran second here last start and finished faster than anything else in this line-up, and now steps up to 1500m on a Soft track. Barrier 3 and a slow expected tempo should give her an easy run behind the leader. The stable and jockey are both elite at Muswellbrook.

Ken Barnett Memorial Mdn Hcp
A quality-bred gelding whose Hong Kong runs were competitive at a much higher level, so maiden company on country soil should be much easier. Two trials show he is ready, and the claim and draw help. Against that he has never won, is returning from a spell, and may be too far back in a slow-run race at a track that favours horses on the pace.
The only horse with real early speed, he should lead and dictate a slow pace, and that is a significant edge at Muswellbrook. He keeps running placings, with seconds on Soft ground and a narrow loss at Port Macquarie, and the drop into maiden company helps.
She carries only 54kg and has the blinkers fitted for the first time.

Bernie Callinan Memorial Mdn Hcp
Won her last trial on rain-affected ground and is a first-starter from a stable and jockey who go well together at Muswellbrook. Barrier 8 is a mild concern, but in a moderate-pace race with no clear leader she can slot in handy.
She has raced well enough in trials on the wet and the rail draw is a big help. She rates as a top chance but is not good value.
She should settle handy and benefits from a moderate tempo. Still a maiden after five starts, but she has the best form pedigree against largely unraced opposition.
The most likely winner on form. She has been up in far better grade than this and her recent Scone trial win on Soft ground shows she is forward and handles the wet. Barrier 2 on an on-pace map suits the Muswellbrook bias, and the class drop is significant.
A consistent placegetter who has run close to winning several times. She is first up, which suits her record, and she handles Soft going. Barrier 9 and top weight are against her, but she should find a handy position. Hard to trust as a winner given her record, but she is a clear second-best on form.
A trial fifth beaten just over a length at Scone last week over the same distance and on the same ground.

Tony Towler Memorial Hcp (C1)
She broke through over 1400m on soft ground last start, coming from last and hitting the line hard, and her Scone second before that was also a strong effort. From the inside gate she maps to settle just off what looks a modest tempo, and she is already a soft-track winner.
Lightly raced five-year-old who has found form this prep, winning his maiden at Narromine with a strong late burst before a close second over 1300m on heavy ground at Dubbo, where he came from midfield and kept closing. The step to 1450m should suit his pattern and he handles give. The knock is top weight and a middle gate at a track that rewards horses settling closer, so he may be giving away a sit to the inside runners.
Her second at Canberra over 1300m on soft ground was arguably the best run in this field, beaten only narrowly after sitting handy. She maps ideally from gate four to settle in the first few in a race with little early pressure, which is exactly the profile that wins here. First-up in a stronger grade at Newcastle she was plain, but she strips fitter second-up. A stable without a recent winner is the obvious risk.
Consistent without winning — one victory from seven starts but rarely far from the action. Her third over 1600m at Tamworth was a solid staying effort and she was beaten under five lengths in a Class 1 on soft ground at Goulburn last time. She gets in with a claim and stays at a suitable trip, but she tends to be one-paced when the sprint goes on and her stable is without a recent winner.

Phil Pottinger Memorial Country Boosted Mdn Plate
She is drawn to get a soft run just behind the speed, which is where this track wants you, and her rider is here for this one ride only. Slightly behind the stable's leading hope, but well capable of filling a hole.
The best-performed horse in the race on exposed form, twice placed here over the trip and beaten a whisker in the stronger of those runs. The sticking point is gate 14, but he is the quickest out of the gates and should be close enough to the speed. If he gets the right cart across, he is right in the finish.
The interesting outsider. Singleton's stable is ticking over and this rider and trainer pair combine at a healthy rate.

Jim Rodger Memorial Country Boosted (Bm66)
The clear form horse. He won at Tuncurry on soft ground two starts back then came from mid-field at this track over 1450m, hit the front at the 200m and kicked clear in this grade. Two wins from four on soft and unbeaten at this track and trip are strong pointers. The queries are the 3kg weight rise and a get-back style on a course where leaders and handy runners dominate, but his class and recent form outweigh those.
Maps as the winner if the race is run to script. He is the only horse in the field with a leading record, the tempo is predicted slow, and he gets in with just 55.5kg. His last three runs read second, first and second and he was only run down late last time. The question is the extra 100m and the class rise, but from the front on a soft track he will take catching.
A hard-fit four-year-old who won at Tamworth then ran two brave seconds, including one that had Hinto behind him. He has the gate speed to negate a wide draw and sit right on the leader's heels, which is where you want to be here. The knock is the class rise and the step to 1500m for the first time, but his form is the most dependable in the race.
The blinkers come back on, which may sharpen him up, and he gets in light with a claim.

Dot Robinson (Bm58)
The best combination of form, map and barrier. She should settle in the first three or four, and her best runs have been at a standard that matches this class.
A genuine leader dropping in class. If she can control the tempo she is hard to run down, and the stable's local record is strong.
She rates a leading place chance rather than the top pick.
Rising and improving, with a recent soft-track win and a map that should see him in the first six.

Pat Farrell Memorial (Bm66)
Currumbin Alley is the one to beat. He draws the inside, maps to settle handy and has a strong first-up profile plus a smart soft-track record. His latest prep included a win and multiple placings, and he drops into a suitable grade. The concern is a 126-day break and a plain trial, but the map and class edge outweigh that.
Jason Darren looks the likely leader from a good gate and should get an easy time in front. He has a solid soft-track place record and has been around the mark at this track, including two seconds. His overall win rate is modest and he is yet to win first-up, but the map is a big plus in a race where on-pace runners are favoured.
Flamboyant Lad drops from stronger company and has a win at this track and trip on his record. He has the speed to be handy, but the wide gate is a real worry at this start, and he carries top weight. His last run in a better race was only fair when he led and weakened.
Ode So Much is the value runner. He is a progressive young horse with a strong soft-track record and a good second-up profile. His last-start third here over this trip was honest after settling off the speed, and he should be better for that run. He is not the most likely winner, but he is overpriced relative to his form.
