Rosina Veloce is a second-up runner with clear intent from connections – the booking of Craig Grylls is a major positive. She showed little on debut in heavy but is entitled to improve significantly.

Leica Ace has outstanding heavy form with three consecutive seconds, but a 629-day absence is a massive query. First-up she has placed before, but that was also after a long layoff? Her only first-up was a 2nd on heavy, so she can run well fresh.
Brutiful Lass is the clear form runner in this maiden with two black-type placings on Heavy10. Her heavy record is the best in the field, and from a good barrier she should settle handy. The last-start failure is a concern but she can bounce back.
That run showed he handles the surface. First-up after a long spell is a concern, but his only first-up run was a 2nd.

The horse to beat after consecutive wins on heavy and soft. Draws perfectly and has the class edge. The only concern is the weight but she's carried similar before. Hard to oppose.
A reliable placer who should be in the finish again. Good each-way chance.
Hard to win but has placed in better company on heavy. With a light weight and some form, she can sneak into the placings. Rough place chance.
Value runner who loves Hawera in the wet. Won here last year on Heavy10 over this trip and recently ran 3rd in similar conditions. Can cause an upset.

Hawera Club 3yo
Capaci brings the strongest distance and class credentials, having placed in a G3 at 1600m and won her last start over the trip on soft ground. The heavy track is the big query, but Hawera data shows wet form is only a tie-breaker and class horses often adapt. With barrier 1 and a fit profile, she is the most likely winner.
Belles Boom has been racing well in Open class on soft tracks and has a prior heavy win. The main concern is stepping up to 1600m for the first time, but his pedigree suggests it's within reach.
Bridie is a filly on the improve, having broken her maiden on a heavy 10 over 1600m. She gets a massive weight advantage with 51kg, but the class jump to Open is steep and the jockey is inexperienced. She could run into a place if she handles the class.
Reconvene is a maiden but has shown he can be competitive in Open class on heavy ground, as evidenced by his 2nd at Hawera last year. He comes off a solid 2nd in a Maiden last week. Each-way play.

Energy Ford Hcp
Tobias has the strongest heavy/distance credentials in the field, with 5 heavy wins and 5 wins at 1600m including a victory at this track and distance on heavy ground. Barrier 1 gives a tactical advantage and he carries only 54kg. While his last two runs have been average, his class and proven suitability to today's conditions make him the most likely winner at fair value.
Cheval De Foudre is the form runner with four straight top-3 finishes, including three seconds. He has shown he can handle heavy going and 1600m (placed twice at the trip recently). The knock is he hasn't won over this distance and jockey/trainer stats are poor.
Boomtown Boy comes off an encouraging third on Heavy 10 at Trentham, suggesting he is hitting form. With the in-form Kelly Myers aboard and a light weight, he can continue his upward trend. However, his record on heavy is winless and he must overcome the outside gate. A place chance with potential to run better if handling the ground.
Wheelitin is a proven heavy-track performer who has won over this track and distance on Heavy 10. Despite mixed recent form, his heavy record (4 wins) is among the best in the field. The light weight and decent jockey form add to his appeal as a value play.

CLAAS Harvest Centre Taranaki (Bm75)
Kereti is the most reliable runner in a small field. He has heavy track form including a win on Heavy10 and a placing at Hawera on Heavy9. His last-start win on synthetic shows good fitness. The slight class rise to BM75 is manageable. Despite jockey Amber Riddell's poor overall stats, she has won on him before. He is the horse to beat.
Sotirio is a heavy track specialist who drops from Open company to BM75, a clear class advantage. He has placed at Hawera on heavy before. However, his recent form is average and he hasn't won since July 2025.
He's Lucid has ability on heavy and has placed fresh before, including at Hawera. Barrier 1 is a plus and Lisa Allpress is a top jockey. However, he is rising in class and has only one career win. He may need the run but could sneak a place in a small field.
Super Wraith is a genuine soft-track performer with a recent win on the surface. Despite a poor run last week, he drops back to a suitable class and draws ideally.
Sandoku is the best value in the race. She has an outstanding heavy record (3 wins from 6 starts) and drops from Open company to BM75. The long layoff is a concern, but Craig Grylls rides and has a strong Hawera record.

Happy 21st Birthday Annabel Corcoran (Bm65)
Digger is the most reliable heavy-track performer in the field, with 39 heavy starts yielding 9 seconds and 8 thirds. His recent 3rd at Arawa Park over 1400m on Heavy9 shows he's in solid order.
She's a heavy-track specialist with 3 wins and 2 placings from 24 starts on the surface, and now drops from BM75 to BM65 while carrying just 54kg. The wide draw is less of a concern on Hawera's heavy track.
That was his first run back from a spell, and he now steps up in class and weight. The second-up factor is a slight concern given his record, but he's lightly raced and could improve.
Breadwinner is an interesting first-up contender. She won her maiden on Heavy10 at Hawera in August last year and has placed first-up in two of three attempts. The long layoff is a concern, but trainer Sharrock has a good record with fresh horses. She maps well from barrier 3 and should be in the race for a long way.

Weir Tours (Bm65)
Amazing Son is the standout on heavy ground with a 1-3-0 record from 5 starts. Second up, he should strip fitter and remains at the same BM65 grade. The main risk is barrier 8, but he has the early speed to overcome it.
Jelly Roll brings excellent recent Heavy10 form, winning then running 3rd last start. He handles the distance and has placed at Hawera previously. The slight concern is the jockey's lack of wins, but the horse's consistency and fitness are strong positives.
Librero is a class dropper who has shown she can win at this level on heavy, having taken a BM75 at Hawera over 1200m on Heavy8. Last run was disappointing but she was in higher grade. The jockey change is a negative, but her heavy record is among the best in the field.
Our Sassie Anne is an each-way player who has been knocking on the door with recent placings. She runs well at this grade and track, and the inside draw combined with a light weight should help her settle handy.

Thank You Diane Pascoe (Bm65)
Muscovado is a wet-track specialist with 3 wins from 14 heavy starts, including two over 2100m. His last two runs have been solid 4th placings in BM65 company on heavy10, beaten less than a length. Craig Grylls is an excellent booking with a 28% win rate at Hawera. The wide barrier is less of a concern on testing ground.
Piper's Son has a strong affinity for Hawera on heavy ground, having won over this track and distance last October. He returned from a spell with a solid 3rd at Wanganui and should strip fitter second up. The inside draw (4) and Kelly Myers' good recent form add appeal.
Derryman broke his maiden convincingly on heavy10 at Woodville over 2100m. He steps up to BM65 here against more seasoned rivals. The inside barrier is a plus, but the class rise is a genuine query.
So Call Me is a seasoned heavy-track galloper with 5 wins on the surface. He has been racing over hurdles recently but returns to the flat with a light weight (57.5kg). His last flat start was a respectable 5th in a BM65 on heavy10.
