His Morphettville Parks second from an impossible position was the standout run in this field and a big step up from anything else here. He maps well from barrier 6 to sit on the speed behind a lone leader, has placed at this track and trip before, and handles Good ground.

Sanders Fodder Mdn Plate
The obvious map horse. With nobody else wanting the lead he can roll along at his own tempo from barrier 2 on a track where on-pace runners hold a clear edge. The Balaklava flop last week is a concern, but the visors were new and he was better at Murray Bridge before that. The Clarken and MacGillivray stable does well at Gawler and the jockey has a strong record for them.
He gets back and needs to run home over the top of tiring runners, and a moderately run 1500m at Gawler with its short straight rarely rewards that pattern.
A Victorian import with maiden form that reads better than most of these. His Kilmore second and Stony Creek runs were strong efforts in staying maidens, and at Stony Creek over a mile he ran home hard for third. The obvious questions are fitness first up, a wide draw and a stable that never seems to win at Gawler, and the moderate tempo will not help a closer.

On form she is the most likely winner. Her second at Murray Bridge in May was the best race performance in this field and she has been placed in four of six starts with consistent margins. Two jump-outs this month, including a win, have her fit for the drop back to 1100m on good ground, which suits.
That Murray Bridge maiden was a weak race that fell apart, and the runners behind him have since produced nothing.
A debutant that has done everything asked in two jump-outs, drawn ideally and ridden by an in-form jockey. With no race form to assess, he sits third on the strength of the proxies rather than proven ability.

Extra Chill is the form horse dropping in grade. Her three recent runs at Strathalbyn and Morphettville have all been at or near a winning standard for a Class 1, including a strong finish from the tail on Good ground last time when the blinkers came off. The map is the concern: a slow tempo on a short-straight track favours the on-pace runners, and she needs a genuine gallop. Still, she has the class edge over this field and the step to 2100m suits.
Her Morphettville second in stronger company was full of merit given she was slowly away and squeezed in the straight, and she was held up at Murray Bridge in a Class 1 the start before when finishing fourth. The catch is that she is a genuine backmarker in a race with a projected slow tempo on a track that punishes closers.
Didactic is the map horse. He dictated from the front to win his maiden over 2000m at Murray Bridge and, with only two genuine speed horses engaged and a slow tempo likely, he should again find himself in front or thereabouts.
Empirestateofmind is the each-way value. His Murray Bridge second in this grade over 2000m, when he came from wide out and still ran to a winning standard, is as good as anything in this field.

Irongate Australia (Bm58)
She won at Bordertown last start after sitting on the speed, and her only failures this preparation came when she could not handle wet tracks. Today's Good 4 surface, an on-pace map behind Limbering and a top jockey make her the most likely winner.
Limbering is the obvious leader in a race with only two genuine front-runners, and Gawler's tight circuit rewards horses that get to the front and dictate. She was beaten just over two lengths at Balaklava last week and has won at this track before.
Kalosyni keeps turning up and running into the placings without winning, and her recent runs at Strathalbyn and Naracoorte show she is competitive in this grade. The claim brings her down to 56.5kg and she maps into a nice spot behind the leaders from barrier 5. The lack of a win on good ground is a worry, so she is best treated as a place chance rather than the winner.
Sazerac has stepped up sharply this preparation, winning at Bordertown over a similar trip after a strong third at Strathalbyn, and she beat two of today's rivals last start. She has placed at this track and distance and draws well in barrier 2.

Her Morphettville fifth in a Class 2 on Good ground was one of the strongest runs in this field and she now drops to Restricted 56 from the ideal draw. With One Whim and Just Like Lisa likely to contest the lead, she should get a cosy trail in the first four and be presented at the 300m.
His debut third at Murray Bridge on Good ground, when he settled midfield and worked home, was a quality run for a first starter and he should be sharper second time out. The concern is the map: he is expected to be near the back, and Gawler sprints rarely go to closers.
Just Like Lisa has the strongest body of recent form in the race and is a proven Good-track performer with a Gawler win to her name, but barrier 12 in a 1100m race here is a real problem. Callow will need to either roll forward early and burn petrol or ride for luck from the back in a fast-run race.
His Bordertown second was a genuine run to a winning standard and he has been consistently competitive in Restricted 56 grade, with the majority of his career wins coming on Good ground. The draw and rider booking are legitimate negatives, but with a fast pace expected from two leaders and a midfield spot on offer, he should be finishing hard when others are stopping.

Maysoonfly produced the strongest recent performance in this field when second in a Class 1 at Murray Bridge on a good track first up, sitting handy and holding on well. She has won at 1200m, has a place second up, and from barrier 6 should land midfield behind Miss Kasei and Hell's On Fire in a fast-run race, which suits her.
Ilustrious Warrior broke through at Bordertown on soft ground 12 days ago and now rises to Class 1 with 60kg, untested on a good surface. In his favour are barrier 1, Todd Pannell staying on, a stable going well and a forward racing pattern that suits Gawler.
Angry Berdi is the improver of the race. The three-year-old filly won her maiden at Naracoorte and then ran a strong fifth in 3yo BM64 company with 59.5kg, finishing off better than anything else in this field. The unknowns are good ground, where she has never raced, and a jockey short of winners.
Four On The Floor is the forgive-and-forget runner. His Mildura maiden win on a good track was a strong performance, racing on speed and putting the race away, and his second there prior was also sound. Since then he has been unplaced on soft tracks, with the last-start Murray Bridge failure coming after being hampered at the jump.

On form alone Star Casino is the horse to beat. His two 1500m wins at Port Augusta in June and July were the best runs in this field by a clear margin, and his third at this grade in July was full of merit. The two subsequent failures came at 1400m and on a soft track he has never handled, and he is now back on good ground at his best trip with a map that should deliver him a midfield sit behind a hot speed.
Royal Fox produced the best recent run at this class level in the field when a close second at Murray Bridge on good ground two weeks ago, and the run before that was a sound placing after interference. He needs the race to be run at a genuine tempo, and with three horses wanting to lead he should get it.
Yarrawizardharry is the improver in the race. Drawn in barrier 1 he should be able to sit just behind the three leaders and pounce as they weaken under the hot tempo, which is a much better scenario than having to lead himself.
Allegedly is a consistent placegetter who ran a handy fourth in the same Murray Bridge race Royal Fox finished second in, and he did it sitting on the speed. From barrier 2 with a light weight he can take up a forward position on a track where on-pace runners win far more than their share, and if the leaders overdo it he will be the one picking up the pieces from just behind them.
