The race looks slowly run, which suits her early speed. The wide barrier and a lack of wins are real concerns, but nothing here has stronger credentials.

Moongleam looks the main threat. She should lead with a slow pace likely, and the trainer and jockey are both in strong form at this track. Her debut fifth was only fair, but she is open to improvement second-up and has drawn handily.
Arandas has improved with each run and closed well from the back last start. A slower pace and a spot closer to the action should suit. The stable is cold and soft ground is untested, which tempers enthusiasm.
A big class drop and a strong stable make him a threat. He should lead or sit just off the pace in a moderately run race, and his Soft form is the same as his Good form. Two barrier trials show he is fit. He has been beaten in both race starts and carries top weight, so he is not the most reliable, but he has the best chance of controlling the race.
Rothfield is the value play. He was second at Mudgee last start and he is still lightly raced and improving.

Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Mdn Plate
Crunch is the one to beat on exposed form. Both runs last prep were on soft ground and he was close up each time, including a luckless fourth at Kembla where he hit the line well. He has been gelded and trialled twice since, draws well, and maps to settle handy in a moderate tempo.
Cecil Peak made a promising debut when fourth at Taree, working home from well back after being forced wide on a soft track. That race has a solid look for this grade and the rise to 1280m should suit. Ashley Morgan is a strong booking and has a good record here. She may get back from the inside draw, so she will need a clear passage, but she is a leading contender.
The step to 1280m on a soft track looks ideal, and her trainer is having a good run.
The drop to 1280m suits and he handles soft ground. Barrier nine is workable. His maiden status and modest stable/jockey strike rate are negatives, but his form and tactical speed give him the edge.
Genuine short-course horse whose three placings all came over 1150-1200m, including a fast-finishing second at Tuncurry and a narrow defeat at Gosford. Forgive the latest effort when he pulled up lame after doing the early work. Aaron Bullock is the rider to have at this meeting and he knows the gelding well. The concern is that he will be in the thick of a fast tempo, so he needs to settle.
Ready Made Heir is the clear second pick. She has run well at both Muswellbrook 1280m starts, including a close placing in a Super Maiden, and comes off a narrow second on soft ground at Port Macquarie. The wide gate is a serious concern, but her early speed may allow her to cross or sit outside the speed. She is consistent and race-fit.
Oakfield Kansas is an each-way value play. She was beaten less than three lengths first-up over 1250m on soft ground after leading, and should be fitter second-up. Aaron Bullock is a strong booking and has an excellent record here. The draw should allow her to settle handy, but she needs to finish off better than last time.

Power FM Plate (C1)
Arrives off a strong win at Taree over the mile on a Soft 7, leading and fighting on to score. He handles wet ground well and has the early speed to take up a handy spot in what shapes as a slowly-run race, which suits him perfectly. Ashley Morgan and the Duggan stable are both going well, and the jockey rides this track with real confidence.
The form runner of the field, with three seconds and a win in his recent string, most recently a closing second over the mile at Tamworth on soft ground and a strong effort over further at Newcastle before that. He drops out of stronger company and lands the perfect inside gate, which is exactly where mile winners come from around here. The knock is that he has won only once from eleven and keeps getting run down late, and the stable is cold.
Improving mare who won her maiden two runs back and then chased Purple Haze home for second at Taree on a Soft 7. She has good gate speed and should be able to take up a prominent position in a race that lacks early pressure, which is a big plus. Aaron Bullock rides the track as well as anyone.
An improving mare who caught the eye running on from well back for third over 1450m here last start, and she has already won at this track. The Cavanough stable is in good form and Mitchell Bell is riding well. The concern is that she gets back in her races and this shapes as a slowly-run affair, so she will need luck and a strong tempo to reel in the leaders.

Saunders Motor Group Hcp (C1)
Cosmic Jinks looks the one to beat. She broke through impressively last start at Port Macquarie, leading and kicking clear, and her prior two seconds were also strong on soft ground. She is race-fit, maps to settle handy from barrier 11, and the Cavanough stable is firing. She is the most likely winner.
Eezitosort has the early speed to lead from barrier 1 and should control a moderate tempo. She was consistent last prep, winning a maiden and placing twice at 1000m, all on soft ground. The 128-day break is a query, but she has trialled and her trainer is adept at having them ready.
Supido Star is the safe, consistent option. She has been placed in six of 11 starts, including two seconds at this track and distance, and her soft-track record is solid. The concern is her get-back style in a race that may not be run at a strong tempo. However, Aaron Bullock's booking is a positive and she should be finishing strongly.
She resumes after a long break but has placed both first-up, and she maps to settle in the first three from barrier 3. Her last prep included a close second in a Class 1 and a sound fourth at this track and trip.

Scone Rural Supplies CRT (Bm58)
Drawn to lead unchallenged at a moderate tempo with only 54kg after the claim. The knocks are that she is yet to win at 1000m in seven attempts and owns just one soft-track win, so the drying track and a soft lead are what she needs.
He has the strongest recent win on paper: he led throughout over this trip at Taree two starts back and then was asked to do too much in a stronger race last time, knocking up over the final 200m. Drawn to track the leader with a 3kg claim, which is an ideal setup in a moderate-tempo race. The worry is a soft-track record of no wins from eight starts, plus a jockey and stable both going through a quiet patch.
A consistent mare who is at her best rolling forward, and she gets a moderate tempo to suit. She won on soft ground at Port Macquarie when able to control the race and ran second here on a rain-affected track over further.
A lightly raced mare who drops out of showcase class two company into this grade and is now three runs into her preparation. She has a soft-track win at Gilgandra that rates well for this level, resumed with a fair effort where the stable expected improvement, and is drawn ideally in seven with the strongest jockey-trainer pairing in the race.
He has three wins from seven at the trip, four wins on rain-affected ground, and last start he was beaten under four lengths in a stronger grade after copping interference at the start.

The Remington Muswellbrook Country Boosted (Bm58)
She has been racing in stronger company and had clear excuses when wide without cover last start. Two runs back she finished second on soft ground, and she has the class and tactical speed to sit closer from an inside gate. The stable and jockey are both going well, and Muswellbrook favours horses with her profile.
Fearn Trick has the best early speed in the race and a soft-track win to her name when she led and controlled. She drops in class and should be prominent, but she has never raced beyond 1100m and must overcome a wide barrier. The moderate tempo helps her cause, yet the 1280m is an unknown.
Ode So Much is a genuine wet-track horse with a strong record on soft going and a win and placing at this trip. He drops from a tougher grade and gets weight relief from a two-kilo claim. His latest run was plain, but it was on a good track and he was shuffled back. Back on the soft surface he can improve sharply and is a good each-way chance.
Improving three-year-old who maps to sit handy from an outside gate. He won his maiden two starts back and was placed on soft ground before that. Last start he blew the start and did well to make ground. Light weight and upside appeal, but this is a rise in class and the draw is tricky.
Snitzenegger is the value runner. He is a course-and-distance winner with two soft-track wins, draws to sit handy, and drops to a grade where his best is competitive. His recent form is not strong, but he was not beaten far here two starts back and the stable has a poor strike rate.

Mangoola Coal (Bm66)
Wet-track winner who should settle on the speed from an inside gate in a slowly-run race, with a big weight advantage over most. Her recent runs finished strongly and she looks the best form chance.
A soft-ground performer who has been placed in most of his starts and is on pace. The wide gate and top weight are the main worries, but his connections are in form and the slow tempo should help him find a spot. He's a solid second-up chance.
The likely leader in a race with no other true front-runner, so he should get an easy lead from a good gate. He is reliable in the placings but often gets run down late, and his connections are cold. He's a safe top-three pick, not a confident winner.
A progressive mare who won her maiden over this course and distance on Soft 5 and finished off well.
His on-pace style should see him handy in a moderate tempo. The wide gate and a small class rise are the risks, but he should be able to find a forward position, so he is the most likely winner.
He won well here last start and ran a standout time for the field. The stable is in red-hot form at this track. The class rise and untried wet-track record are the risks, but his ability and the stable's intent outweigh them. He is the most likely winner.
Hardly a proven winner, but his recent Muswellbrook runs at this level were good and he has a light weight. If the field is more bunched than expected he could run into a place.
