Fehmarn beat a BM66 field on a Heavy 9 at Bendigo last start and now gets a Soft 7 with barrier 2 and a fast tempo to trail into. His record on heavy going is 2 wins from 3 starts, and his sole soft run produced a placing after being hampered. With two genuine leaders drawn outside him, he can sit fourth or fifth and pounce, exploiting the strong on-pace bias here.

Sportsbet Race Previews (Bm66)
Risky Whisky has won 4 of 9 starts, all on rain-affected or heavy going, and comes back from BM78 to a grade he won at Albury on Heavy 8 with 61.5kg. Brodie Loy has won 3 of 4 rides on him and returns, a clear intent signal. He led and fought on for 6th here last Wednesday in stronger company.
However, she is first up after 6 months, her only wet run was a Listed 7th, she has begun awkwardly every start, and she maps as a backmarker on a track heavily biased toward on-pace runners.
He won over this exact track and distance on Heavy 9 in July from last, and was second in the same setup a fortnight earlier. His last-start 12th at Caulfield came after a slow start in BM74 company and can be forgiven. The predicted fast tempo from two leaders is exactly what he needs, and the last four meetings here have shown more backmarker success than the long-run average.

Barrier 3 and a handy map suit the on-pace bias.
As a Frankel filly the second-up improvement should be significant and she is the only contender with proven wet form at this trip. Predicted to settle handy which suits the recent on-pace bias.
Full Confidence is a well-bred debutant by I Am Invincible from Qafila, and the McEvoy stable has booked Harry Coffey, a reliable wet-track rider.
She has placed on soft ground and is the most exposed runner in the field. The step to 1200m should suit a Kingman filly and she maps forward, which aligns with the on-pace bias.

Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm66)
Nottolook is the form horse on trajectory: two consecutive staying wins on rain-affected ground, the second from an awkward position after being held up. Payne and Egan are the most potent connections here and the booking signals confidence. The risks are real, a wide draw, a get-back style and a slow forecast tempo, but the 2400m start at Sandown gives time to find cover and the field lacks a dominant on-pace horse.
Jaykayann is the course and distance specialist of the field with three wins from seven starts at Sandown-Hillside 2400m and every win recorded on rain-affected going. She drops sharply in weight, meets the same class as her last start where she was held up, and maps handy on a track where forward runners are favoured. Her recent form reads modestly but it was accrued in BM74 and BM78 races.
Chihuly produced the best recent form reference in this race when 2nd in the same grade over 2400m on Soft 7 three weeks ago. He is drawn to save ground, keeps Damian Lane and carries a comfortable 57kg.
His last two runs at 2400m and beyond on wet ground were narrow placings behind horses of BM62 quality, his pattern is consistent and he is still on the improve at 11 starts. He draws the rail with 56kg and a senior rider, both positives at Sandown.

Quayclean (Bm74)
Emperor Tzu is the form-based most likely winner. He won at this track and distance last week, running the best last 600m in the field, and he maps to sit just off a fading lone leader in what shapes as a slow tempo. That positional edge is significant at Sandown-Hillside where backmarkers at the 400m win under 5% of races. The 1kg weight swing on Gold Chariot from their Lakeside meeting also helps.
His Lakeside win over Emperor Tzu was strong, but that rival has since improved and gets a 1kg swing. He should run a place but is poor value to win.
Federer has the best class credentials in the field and his Sandown-Hillside placing on soft ground shows he handles the venue. The concern is the weight, with 61kg on a Soft 7 and no soft-track win from six attempts. He has been racing keenly and needs cover from barrier 1. He is a legitimate place chance and could win if the two leading fancies falter, but the weight and wet-track profile keep him third.
Mukhtalif can control the race with only Station One as a rival leader, and Sandown rewards the front six at the 400m. His Caulfield BM74 win at this trip and a competitive first-up heavy run in stronger BM84 company make him a clear third best. The inexplicable Flemington flop and an out-of-form rider cap confidence.
Raging Bull is not a winning proposition but he is the value runner for a place in a thin field. The blinkers return and the class drop into BM74 suits.

Both runs were effectively first up and both on soft, so the 101-day break and Soft 7 hold no fears. The negatives are real: 61kg, the widest gate and no trial. Sandown's long straight and a fast tempo mitigate the draw, and the class gap is large enough to carry the weight.
The main danger and a very close second on form. Dropping from Listed and Open company into a BM64 with fitness on her side is a strong profile. The 4kg rise and a rider out of form temper confidence, and her Soft 7 record is thinner than her Heavy run suggests.
Best of the on-pace group. She has run 3rd, 2nd and 1st at 1000m on rain-affected tracks, including a sound third in Open 3yo company at this track and trip on Soft 6, and now drops to BM64 with only 56kg from barrier 1. Sandown sprints reward horses in the first six at the 400m and she will be there.
Value roughie. She maps to settle handy from barrier 4 on a track that favours that position.

Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives (Bm70)
Divine Dot is the form-based most likely winner. She has already won an Open 1000m at Sandown on Soft 6 and finished within a length in a stronger Open sprint here on Heavy 8 last start despite racing wide without cover. Today she draws barrier 1, drops to BM70 and should lead into a track profile that heavily favours front-runners on wet going.
Headbanger has the speed to be in the first three early and her 1000m record is sound, but she is untested on rain-affected ground, first up without a public trial and drawn outside the two other leaders.
She maps to sit handy from barrier 4, which suits Sandown's on-pace sprint profile.
Per Sempre is the value runner. The predicted fast tempo helps, and Sandown's long straight gives a closer a chance.

Orbit Logistics Chautauqua Stakes
Persian Spirit was narrowly beaten in the Caulfield Listed race that also featured Warnie and Recon, and he did so settling handy on a Soft 6. His soft-track record and 60%-plus place rate make him the most reliable profile in this field, and 54.5kg with barrier 4 fits the Sandown inside/on-pace bias.
The extra 100m helps and Zahra is a strong booking. The concern is racing pattern: he gets well back and Sandown strongly favours the first six at the 400m with only two genuine leaders forecast, so he will need luck and a genuine tempo. Strong place chance, win needs the race to unfold his way.
She maps perfectly to control the race from barrier 3 with 54kg, which is the profile Sandown rewards, but the leader bias at the last meeting was poor and Here To Shock may contest the lead. Place play only.
He won a Group 1 on Soft 6 in May and had an excuse when held up last start. Barrier 1 and a handy running style match what Sandown rewards.

The projected fast tempo from Stay Silent, Navy King and Nation's Call should set up the race for her finishing burst from the inside gate.
Stay Silent is the form horse on the rise and has already beaten several of these at this track and distance on a wet surface. His wet-track record is the best in the race.
Castle On High ran the race of his life last start when just failing to run down Stay Silent on a Heavy 8 here over the same trip. He now meets that horse 2.5kg better with the lightest weight in the race, and a faster tempo with three leaders should give him a better set-up than he had last time. Wet form is solid and blinkers appear to have sharpened him.
Strip it out and you have the best wet-track strike rate in the race, two wins from three starts at Sandown including this exact trip, and a rider who has won on him twice.

Stow Storage Solutions Bm70)
Savitri won an Open handicap at Caulfield and was competitive in a Group 1 before this spell, and a BM70 is well below that level. First-up record is 1 win and 1 second from 2 attempts, she has a soft-track win and trialled on a heavy surface. She maps to sit just off lone leader Belcony from barrier 2, ideal at Sandown on a slow tempo. The 62kg is the only real query and is outweighed by class.
Hi Val has the form line that matters most: a win over this track and distance on a soft surface with a heavier weight. Dropping to 56kg and back to 1400m with a jockey who strikes at 29% here, she is the most likely to trouble Savitri. The wide draw and midfield map in a slow tempo cap her to each-way.
She is progressive, handles wet ground and has a top stable-jockey partnership, yet she is untested at 1400m, bred as a sprinter, and will be racing off a slow tempo from behind at an on-pace track. She fits the top three on upside and connections but is a place play only against Savitri's class and Hi Val's course form.
She has placed twice at this track and distance and drops back to BM70 with 58kg. The issues are her modest win rate, zero soft-track wins, and a midfield-to-back settling spot on a track that has rewarded handy runners.
First-up she has a win and a placing from two attempts. Each-way is the appropriate play.

Sportsbet Same Race Multi (Bm78)
The class rise to BM78 is modest for a horse of his ability. The weight and barrier are the risks, but a fast tempo plays to his finishing strength.
He draws barrier 3 and settles just behind the leaders, exactly where winners have come from at recent Sandown meetings. The 60kg is the main knock but his class holds up at BM78.
Lovelycut is a reliable wet-track placer whose form at this track and distance on heavy ground reads well for a Soft 7. She dropped back to BM78 after a lame report last start, which is the obvious risk, but her previous three starts were all placings in similar or stronger grade. She settles in the on-pace zone that has produced recent winners here.
He draws barrier 1, settles just behind the speed, and holds a solid soft-track record of three wins and three placings from eleven starts. He offers each-way value if the track dries as forecast.
