She has won three of her last five, including a gritty all-the-way win over this trip on a soft track last start, and she looks the clear leader from the inside alley in a race with no other speed.

Sky Racing Hcp
The safest each-way proposition in the race. She won on a soft track at Townsville last start after taking a sit, she knows every inch of Mackay with 12 starts there for two wins and five placings, and she has already won over this trip.
She will settle in the first few and the predicted slow tempo should help her on-pace style. The negatives are the rise out of restricted grade into Open company, an awkward outside gate and a soft-track record without a win, so she looks a genuine place hope rather than a winning one.
The value runner. Her last-start fourth over a sharp 1050m on soft ground was full of merit, settling near last and making good ground through the line, and the step to 1300m suits a filly who clearly wants further. She has already won on rain-affected ground and is lightly raced with improvement to come.

Ladbrokes Switch (Bm65)
The class and form mare of the race. She jumps quickly enough to sit on the pace in what shapes as a slowly run race, which is where you want to be. The rise into 65 grade and a 50-day break are the only queries, but she has won two of three first-up and has never missed a place on soft ground.
He looks the natural leader and with the tempo expected to be slow, he gets the chance to dictate. His two recent seconds over this sort of trip at Mackay and Rockhampton were both close and both good enough to win this. He maps well enough to be the clear second pick.
The most accomplished horse in the field on class and track record, and he drops out of stronger company onto a surface he loves. His win here on soft ground in June at 70 grade reads well against this lot. The problems are the resumption from a respiratory-enforced break, a blank first-up record, the top weight and the outside gate.
A mare whose best asset today is her draw. She gets the rail, settles just off the speed and drops into a grade she has not faced for a while after a sound second last start. The stable is firing and has a good record here.

Rock Angel brings the strongest exposed piece of form into this. He led throughout on a soft track here over 1200m and only went down late, and he has since won a trial in handy style. With barely any other speed in the race he should control a moderate tempo, and his stable/jockey combination is going well.
Willow Capri has the deepest Mackay form in the field — two seconds here, one of them a nose defeat over 1300m where she came from well back. She does her best work late, so an honest tempo suits, and her trainer is having a solid run. The knock is that she resumes after a long break and jumps from a wide gate, so she will need luck in running.
Cosmic Dynasty is a lightly raced mare who has been around the mark without breaking through. Her closing run on a soft track at Mornington was a good pointer, she placed at Bowen two starts back despite hanging off the track, and she gets the services of the best rider in the race from a sweet draw.
Majestic Choice is fit and racing consistently, and her run over this track and trip two starts back was much better than the finishing position reads — she got a long way out of her ground and made up good late ground.

Men Matter Hcp (C3)
Clearly the form horse. She led and put a gap on her rivals over this trip at Rockhampton three weeks ago in a display well above what the rest of this field has produced lately, then drops into a Class 3 and gets weight relief from the older horses. She has won on soft and is unbeaten at the journey.
Improving filly who beat older horses last start over this trip on soft ground and did it in a quick time. She has strong wet-track credentials and only 54kg, and her stable is going well. The concern is the likely pace duel: three of these want to go forward, and front-runners have been struggling to hold on at recent Mackay meetings. She looks the safest of the on-speed brigade to still be in the finish, so a place is the play.
The class runner of the older brigade, dropping out of a Class 6 plate and owning two soft-track wins. The question is the trip: all her recent form is at 1250m to 1450m, and 1050m round a tight Mackay circuit may leave her giving away too much of a start from midfield. A fast tempo helps her cause, so she can hit the frame without being the one to beat.
A horse the map helps more than the formguide does. Three rivals are speed horses and the tempo looks hot, which sets things up for the only genuine swooper in the race. He was ridden wide without cover last start and can be forgiven, and his earlier efforts around Mackay in stronger class were sound, including a placing on soft.

Book For Christmas Meeting Sat 12th Dec (Bm55)
Anthropology is the form pick. She won last start, has placed in both soft-track runs and maps to settle just behind a moderate tempo, which suits. She gets weight relief after a class drop and has a strong partnership with her jockey.
Elegant Venus is rising through the grades after two wins, including a Mackay success. She has the speed to hold a forward spot from gate four and should be suited by a moderate tempo.
Arancia is the value runner. She won at this grade two starts ago, has a soft-track win and maps to sit second behind the likely leader. Ryan Wiggins is a strong booking and has a good record here.

Ladbrokes Mega Multi Hcp
A reliable, on-speed mare who does her best racing at Mackay and handles give in the ground without always saluting. She lands in a good spot from gate five and, with the race likely to be run at a modest tempo, should be able to sit right on the pace and be strong late. She runs plenty of seconds, so she's more a win-and-place proposition than a standout, but on this map and surface she's the safest to be in the finish.
The one proven mudlark in the line-up and he comes here in the best form of his career off a last-start win. He's won at this track and trip previously, and backmarkers have been winning at Mackay of late, which tempers the concern about his get-back style. The knock is the drop in distance off a staying win and the risk a muddling tempo leaves him too much to do, but on a soft track his wet class makes him a leading contender.
The concern is his get-back style in what shapes as a slowly-run race - he may give the handy horses first run.
He has the speed to push forward and sit handy, which matters given the likely slow tempo, and he drops back to a trip he's won at.

Racing Again Thursday 19th Nov (Bm60)
An in-form four-year-old who has won his last two, including over further, and is clearly the best-performed mudlark in the field with two wins from six on soft ground. He gets in light after the claim and his recent efforts stack up best of these. The wide gate is the obvious risk, but he has the speed to slot in and can also be ridden quietly.
A genuine winner who took out this very trip at Mackay earlier in the year and arrives off a last-start victory, so course and distance clearly suit. He's one of the few here with a real winning habit. The knock is top weight from a tricky gate, plus a flat run two starts back, so he needs to jump cleanly and get across without doing too much work.
A lightly raced four-year-old on the up whose recent placed runs in decent soft-track company rate well against these. He settles back and runs on, which fits the way recent winners here have come from off the pace, and he's a watch stepping out in trip. The queries are that he's never raced beyond 1400m and backs up quickly from a hard run.
The knock is a poor last start and a modest soft-track record, but his class relief makes him the value runner.
