The most reliable runner in a weak maiden. It has been placed on soft ground and ran on solidly last start at Woodville. The 2000m trip is an unknown, and ten starts without a win is a concern, but the field is modest and it should be involved late.

Denis Wheeler Earthmoving Mdn
Has the speed and draw to take control of a steadily run race, and its last-start effort suggests ability. The concern is whether it can hold on over 2000m on a soft track after fading last start at 1600m.
A second-starter that already has a taste of a longer trip on soft ground and ran sensibly on debut. With a steady tempo expected and the stamina proven, it can improve on that run.
A long-time maiden whose finishing ability suggests the extra distance will suit. A strong jockey booking at this track and the weight advantage help, and she has been competitive at this level before.

HEL Rimu Mdn
Our Edwardo is the most consistent type in a weak maiden. He was a gallant second over this course and distance, and he ran on well for third last start. He is second up and should settle handy in a moderate tempo. The wide gate is a worry, but the jockey and stable are in good form, and he is the most likely winner on form.
Fleurs Star has been placed twice on rain-affected tracks and gets a handy weight drop. The stable is in superb form and she comes off a good run behind a stronger finish. Slow starts are a concern, but a moderate tempo should help if she can find cover. She is a genuine each-way chance with a winning shot.
Scotty is a regular placegetter who ran a big race last start at Hawera over this trip, sitting handy before being run down. He is at his best in wet going and is capable of finishing in the first three again. The lack of a win after 14 starts is a worry, and top weight plus a wide gate make him hard to win with, but he is a strong place chance.
He should be prominent again from a fair gate in a moderate tempo, and that front-running style can be an advantage.

Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series (Bm65)
Progressive four-year-old from the powerful Walker/Bergerson yard who won her maiden over this trip on soft ground last start and was runner-up over this track and distance on a Soft 6 earlier in the year. Drawn to get the gun run behind what shapes as a slowly-run race and gets a top stable rider aboard. The knock is a sizeable class rise and three extra kilos, but she has the most upside of anything here and should be in the finish.
Consistent six-year-old mare with three wins who comes off a strong staying success at Cambridge and was placed at a stronger grade before that. She handles soft and heavy ground, is drawn to settle in the first four, and her rider has won on her before. The negatives are top weight, a ten-length defeat two starts back on soft ground, and just one prior attempt at the mile. She is a genuine each-way chance.
The only natural leader in the race and drawn the inside, so she projects to control a slowly-run mile, which is a big tactical edge. She led throughout to win on heavy ground in August and placed twice on that surface before it. The negatives are significant though: no placings in four soft-track starts, a poor fading effort after leading last time, and a first try at 1600m. Worth including on the map but not one to trust with the win.
Honest mare who is a proven wet-tracker with two wins and plenty of placings on soft ground, and she has five placings from nine starts at this track. She won a Bm65 on soft two starts back and closed solidly over this trip last start. The knock is that she is yet to win over a mile in 18 tries and may be too far back in a race with little tempo.

ITM New Plymouth Mdn
Debutant filly who brings the strongest connections in the race, from a yard that has been firing and a rider whose partnership with the stable produces winners regularly. Drawn to get an ideal sit just off the pace over the short course. The only real query is whether the sire's stock want further than 1200m first time out.
A speed-oriented sire fits a 1200m dash on a rain-affected track, so the profile makes sense.
Gate four should let him settle in the first handful without doing any work, which is a plus in a maiden on a Soft track.
Clearly the class runner of the field. Ran a bold third in the Listed Ryder Stakes as a juvenile, leading on a heavy track before being run down. Drops from black-type company to maiden grade, a big class relief.
The only runner here with a genuinely useful piece of 1200m form — he settled handy and stuck on well at Hawera before a fair resumption at Taupo where he worked wide throughout. Second-up now, out to 1200m, with the inside gate and wet-track experience already under the belt. The rider is without a recent winner but has been placing consistently.

Grangewilliam Stud Mdn
Consistent mare who has placed in six of 11 starts, including three seconds on soft ground. First-up after 200 days but has placed both previous fresh runs. The knock is she's yet to win, but this is a weak maiden and she gets her chance.
Only one start but it was a third in a Listed race over 1200m on heavy ground, leading throughout. Drops to maiden company with a significant class edge and gets 2.5kg off the mares. Wide draw is a concern, but she has early speed to overcome it.
Showed strong form last prep, including a close second at this track over 1600m. Wide draw and get-back style don't help.
With no race experience she is hard to quantify, but the absence of form is not a negative; the stable's confidence and McNab's booking make her a leading chance.
Placed twice from five starts, including a second over this track and distance on soft ground. Goes well fresh with two placings from two first-up runs.

Seaton Park Hcp (60)
She has won at the track on soft ground, is second-up, and drops into easier company with a strong jockey. Her last-start flop came from a wide gate after a slow start and pulling hard. The risk is an inside draw and a back-of-field map in a slow tempo, but she is the most likely winner.
Shamwari should get a handy run from barrier 3 in what looks a slowly-run race. She has only one win from 15 starts and has not won on soft ground, but she is a fair each-way chance in this field.
Willoughby White ran the best race of his preparation last start on soft ground, finishing fourth from a wide gate, and he backs up quickly. He knows the track and drops in grade, so he should be in the mix.
Wuruhi is the most solid form runner in a race short of strong recent form. She has run to a good standard on soft ground twice in the last three weeks, and one of those runs was a standout.
A small each-way saver is appealing.

On Track (Bm75)
The clear form horse. A dominant Hawera winner two starts back, he then ran a solid fifth in a competitive Bm75 at Waverley after settling handy, closing well on soft ground. He handles the wet, has Craig Grylls aboard and is drawn to get the right run.
An in-form mare from a stable that is firing, she broke through last start and now drops out of open company back to this grade. She has won on soft ground and won well at this track earlier in the year.
A progressive stayer who finally got the trip last start, winning strongly over 2000m on soft ground after settling well back. He has a good record at this distance and the likely strong early tempo should suit his come-from-behind style. Steps up in grade, which is the query, and the draw is awkward, but he is on the up and looks a solid each-way hope.
A wily veteran who keeps running honest races, most recently a closing fifth over 2100m on soft ground. He is the only genuine backmarker in the field, so a hot early tempo would play right into his hands, and he is well weighted with the claim.

La Nuova Twilight Races Friday 20th November (Bm65)
Best on form in a race with no obvious leader. She ran fast early last start at a higher grade and faded, and she is back second up, where she has won both starts. The class drop and soft footing suit.
The weight helps.
A tough, wet-track performer who is nearly always in the finish. She should be well placed from barrier 3 in a race with no clear leader.
Best form pick. She won this grade over 1400m on Soft 5 last start, has a strong record at the trip and comes in fresh. The inside draw and a likely slow tempo should let her sit handy, which is the preferred position at this track.
He won his maiden at this track on a Heavy surface and has the wet-track form to run into the placings if things go his way. Barrier 1 should help in a slow race. The weight and class are against him, so this is a small each-way chance only.
