He maps to lead uncontested at a moderate tempo, which makes him very hard to run down over 1200m on a good track. The weight is the only real query, and he carried it last start.

Reliable Asset Maintenance (Rs0ly)
He has never won in five starts, gets back in a race where the pace should be only moderate, and he meets the in-form Official Business who has already beaten this class. He should run well again and is a solid place proposition, but he is not the most likely winner on form and offers no value to win.
Fast Break is the best of the rest. A sharp recent trial and the booking of the in-form Austin Galati suggest the stable expects a good fresh run. He maps to the position Belmont sprints favour, just behind the leader, and the lightly raced profile gives him upside the others lack.
She won this exact class at Belmont six weeks ago, then ran two creditable sixths in stronger races, beaten only a few lengths each time with every chance. She now drops back to her winning grade with the lightest weight in the field and a rider who has won on her twice. The 1200m is a query, but her consistent form against better horses makes her a genuine each-way play.

Encroaching is the clear form horse. He drops sharply in class, owns the best early speed in a race lacking a natural leader, and the Fiore-Morton partnership is reliable. His first-up Bunbury effort was sound and he has improved at his second run before.
Lacey Marie has clearly found form, running home for third at Belmont last week after a similar effort at Bunbury, and she maps beautifully from barrier one on a track where the handy positions carry the day.
Birdiebirdie showed enough on debut at Northam to suggest a race like this is within reach, finishing fourth after conceding ground at the start. The Parnham stable has booked Chris Parnham and the gelding draws to be in the right spot.
Bella Roccia is the forgotten horse. Her debut second at this track as a two-year-old was the best run anyone in this field has produced, and she gets a low weight, an inside draw and a stable in excellent form.

MC Equine Surfaces Hcp (C1)
Dropping into Class 1 second-up with Pike aboard, she is the most likely winner on form. The risk is the wide barrier and a back-of-field run in a moderately run sprint, but her finishing burst is the best here.
Her second here over 1200m from the same barrier is the strongest course-and-distance form in the race. She will sit handy with cover on a good surface and her 3kg claim helps. She lacks a winning kick when challenged, but is a solid chance to hold on.
A good place chance, but not the pick on form.
The mare has improved with a stronger finish in recent runs and won last start. A fair each-way chance if the leaders tire.

Drummond Golf Hcp (C1)
His Ascot 1200m win was run to a winning standard and his last start at Belmont, beaten under a length while held up, was equally good in a stronger race than today. He is a genuine 1200m horse, sits in the sweet spot of the draw, and maps to be exactly where Belmont sprint winners settle when the pace is on. The 3kg claim is a bonus.
He ran to a winning standard winning his maiden over 1200m at Ascot and has since been thrown in against stakes horses. Back to Class 1 with a trial win under his belt he is an obvious player. He is first up after six months, lumping 59kg, his connections are out of form, and the map suggests he will be back in the field.
Levati Dimezzo is admirably consistent and the step up to 1200m looks the obvious next move for a horse who keeps finishing over the top of them at 1000m. His last-start second at Ascot was full of merit after a slow start and traffic. The problem is he has never actually won and the map has him last or near it on a track where backmarkers rarely get there.
Excelindeed is an honest, placing type who returned a much better horse this preparation. His Ascot third last start, after a slow start, was his best run in a long time and he had trialled well before it. The map is ideal: he has the gate speed to be handy without leading, in the position Belmont winners come from. The stable is flying.

Lawn Pride Australia Hcp (C3)
His last three runs, two of them at Belmont over this trip on Good ground, were all to a winning standard, and he went down by a head and half a length. He should get a good run just off a genuine tempo, and barrier 8 suits at this track.
However, she has been beaten narrowly at Belmont on three occasions when making the running, and a fast tempo with other speed around may take its toll late.
Harbour Rise is an improving three-year-old who won at Belmont last start and finished well in each run before that. A genuine tempo should suit his late run and the 55kg is a help. The concerns are racing first-up against older horses, a rider in poor form and a backmarker's draw on the inside, which can mean getting held up. He is a solid place chance with a winning chance.
Reginetta has won both starts, including a Maiden over 1000m on Good ground.

On his good runs Seven Candles is the best horse in the race. His Ascot win and close second were both run to a winning standard at this level or better. He has two trials under his belt and a sound first-up record. Weight and where he settles are the risks.
Nickelplay brings the most reliable recent form in the race. Her poor winning record is the knock, but this looks a soft Class 3 and she will be in the finish.
His last two runs were poor, but both came over further than ideal when he led and over-raced. Back at 1400m with cover outside the leader, he gets a better run and his Belmont second at Class 1 is good form for this grade. The jockey-trainer pairing is a real positive.
Polyvanova should get her own way in front with only King Of The Town likely to press her. She is a regular placegetter at this grade, and her Belmont second in September was right up to the mark.

Liquor Barons (Rs0ly)
He was close to a winning run last time in a stronger race after settling back, and his third-up profile and track/distance win give him a clear class edge. The wide draw and top weight are concerns, but he has the best credentials here.
His last run was better than the result suggests after trouble, and he has upside as a four-year-old. First-up and track history are negatives, but he is a leading contender.
A lightly raced mare with a strong placing profile and a good run at this track and trip two starts ago. Her latest effort can be forgiven after racing wide without cover, and she is suited by the drying ground. She lacks a win at this distance and needs to stay closer, but she is a solid place chance.
The value runner. He has been racing in excellent form, winning two starts back and finishing close up in stronger company, and he looks the natural leader in a race without much early pressure.
