Resonant is the class runner of this race. His half-length second in the Gold Rush at Bendigo is the strongest form on offer, and he came back with a close second over the same 1000m. He has never raced on a Soft track, but a midfield run behind a lone leader at a moderate pace should suit.

RSN Bendigo 945am Mdn Plate
She has a good draw, gets 2kg, and the Maher and Brown combination is strong, so she should improve. But that one run was beaten three lengths and was below Resonant's best work.
Magnusaurus Rex was very unlucky at Echuca, held up before running on strongly to miss by under half a length over 1000m. He is clearly improving, and Bendigo tends to favour horses finishing from the back. He still needs luck from barrier 1 because he settles near the rear, and the moderate pace will not help. He has never raced on a Soft track. He rates a genuine winning chance but is best for exotics or the place given the run he needs.
He should lead on his own at a moderate pace and drops back to 1000m, which should help a keen horse finish off. His third in the Gold Rush at Bendigo, close to Resonant, and his third on a Soft track at Swan Hill give him form that compares well with the top three. He won his jump-out at Seymour.

Catanachs Jewellers (Bm64)
His Geelong second at this level was the best run of the race given how much ground he lost early and wide, and his maiden win came after a bad start. The worry is a slow tempo with him settling back, but drawn barrier 2 with Craig Williams riding, he should be closer than usual.
Centenary Florin has the class edge from her 2yo campaign, where she ran very well in stronger races, and she drops to Bm64 for her return. Her early speed should land her just behind or outside the lone leader in a race expected to be run slowly, which gives her a big advantage. Fitness and her habit of fading late are the risks.
Sound Byte is on the rise and should get a good run on the pace, with Nickibi likely to lead. Her Kilmore win was solid, she gets the weight relief and she should be fitter second up.
Her Sandown second on Soft 7 was good, and she looks well placed with a large class drop and a strong stable behind her. The concern is the race shape: a slow tempo and a tendency to settle at the back make it hard to hit the line from there, even with Bendigo's long straight. She is a respectable chance but is shorter than her race map warrants, so she ranks third.
In a race expected to be run slowly with only one natural leader, Nickibi should get a soft time in front.

Wild Plumbing (Bm66)
His first-up second at Hamilton on Soft 5 was very good: he raced three wide with no cover, hit the front at the 200m and was only run down late by a fitter horse. He's in his second run back, where he has won before, and he drops slightly in class. He should settle just off Romantic Miss rather than fight her for the lead, which takes away some of the keenness risk.
He has raced in better company and has the strongest finish in the field. His 1100m Caulfield run on Soft 7 was a winning-standard effort despite trouble in the run, and the class drop is significant. Bendigo has been kinder to backmarkers than most provincial tracks. The worries are getting clear runs from the inside draw and the doubt about soft ground. Each-way covers that risk.
The honest leader of the race, and she handles wet ground. She has been consistent this campaign: a big Warrnambool win, then a close fourth over 1100m against stronger Caulfield company. Leading without pressure and the 2kg claim give her a real chance to kick clear.
She has raced twice, both times on rain-affected ground, and ran a winning standard both times. Her latest was an easy maiden win at this track on Soft 7. Second up with 54kg, she should get a nice spot just behind a lone leader, which is the place to be with a moderate pace. The class rise is real, but nothing else in the field has a cleaner wet-track profile.
The overlay. She won this same race last year from a wide draw, she's in good form at this level, and Rawiller is back on. Her recent runs show she finishes strongly, and Bendigo has suited runners from the back more than most.

BRB Electrical (Bm66)
Melek is lightly raced and improving. His Ballarat second, wide with no cover, was the best performance by any runner in the race. Seymour was a step back on the soft, but he was outpaced over 2000m and the rider wanted further. The step up to 2400m should suit. Barrier 4 gives him a midfield run with cover, which suits this track's leaning towards horses finishing from behind.
He won the Seymour form race last start on similar ground, beating Yahoo Bar and Melek. He finished off well from midfield in a time good enough to win at this level. He carries more weight now and his record at the trip is placings only. Even so, he places often and handles the soft. His late finishing style also suits the Bendigo straight.
His Seymour second was a strong run. He led and only got caught late, finishing ahead of Melek. With the claim he carries around 4kg less than that day. He should be able to dictate a slow pace in front. Barrier 16 and his first try at 2400m are real concerns, and recent Bendigo meetings have not favoured leaders. He has the class and the weight to hold on for a place.
A genuine stayer who is suited by this trip and finishes strongly from the back, which fits Bendigo's tendency to favour runners from off the pace. His two close Swan Hill seconds over 2400m stand up at this grade. He keeps missing the start and seldom wins, so a slow pace is a worry, but he should be finishing hard.
Her Seymour run on the soft was better than ninth suggests: she settled last and kept going over the final stages. The step up to 2400m should suit a filly bred to stay.

Prestige Event Hire (Bm70)
She ran a close second over this course and distance, Damian Lane rides and she carries only 54.5kg. With a moderate pace she may settle too far back, and she doesn't win often. Even so, she is the most reliable runner in the field.
Kiwi Jenni is a lightly raced 4yo mare who keeps improving. Her close third in a Bm70 mile on good ground is better form than most of this field has shown. The concern is that she usually starts slowly and settles last, so a moderate pace could leave her too far back. She should still be finishing among the best.
She has run in Group company, and her second-up Cranbourne fourth had excuses after she was slow out and held up. Third up with Williams and 54kg, she should improve. She has still been beaten twice by Bm62 horses, hasn't won on good ground, and will settle well back.
Itsukushima is the value runner. He is the quickest away in the field, and in a moderately run race he should sit on the speed, a spot where he consistently runs well. He has won and placed from two starts over this course and distance and is a much better horse on good ground. His summer runs at this level were strong.

Bendigo Locksmiths (Bm78)
The most reliable form horse in the race. He is third-up and fit, and his Caulfield run in this grade was better than the 5th placing looks after he settled back and got blocked. Barrier 2 and his early speed should land him one-out or on the leader's back in a moderately run race.
The worries are being first-up after five months, his habit of laying in, and a likely back-half spot in a race without much pace.
His two Ballarat wins were faster than anything most of these have run. He had a forgiveable excuse at Seymour when he got into a speed duel on a soft track. Back on a Good track, with the light weight and a jockey who rides Bendigo very well, he can bounce back.
He was plain first-up in a strong Caulfield race, but he was resuming from a long break and came out of barrier 10. Second-up from barrier 4, he should get a soft run near the lead in a race with only a moderate pace, which is how he won his three races in a row.

Jarrod Larkin Concreting (Bm70)
Her two runs this preparation have been the strongest in the field, including a dominant soft-track win over a stronger mares' field at Sandown. She usually settles back, which suits Bendigo on soft ground, where runners from 7th or worse at the 400m win more often than usual. The likely slow pace is a risk, but she has already beaten slowly run races.
A genuine wet-track mare who drops in class after racing in strong company interstate. Her first-up run at Hamilton was plain, but she began slowly for a new stable, and her second-up record of three placings from three is a big pointer. The 2kg claim brings her into the race at a light weight, and Bendigo's soft-track pattern suits horses coming from behind.
On the map he should lead unchallenged and set his own slow pace, which is the best tactical position in the race. He won at Bendigo on this ground in September, and his rider has an outstanding record here. He is still the likeliest runner to be in the finish if the closers get held up.
Imperial Award has won all three starts, two on soft ground, and has run near a winning standard each time. With the 3kg claim he carries just 54.5kg. The wide draw is a problem, but he has enough early speed to find cover midfield.
Tsarine is in career-best form, winning twice and running second in her last three, all on soft tracks, finishing strongly from near the back. She has a similar run style to Dirty Look and gets 3kg from her, making her the main danger.
A consistent placegetter whose best racing is at this distance, with two seconds over 1300m at Bendigo. With a light weight and early speed from a good draw, he should sit just behind Alero in a slowly run race and be hard to run down.

Ladbrokes Bendigo Cup
The best form horse in the race. The steady tempo forecast suits his habit of sitting handy and then going on.
The Gold Cup second and Caulfield Cup fifth stand out in this company.
A genuine wet-track stayer who will be on the speed with a light weight. Her Bart Cummings second on heavy ground is good form for these conditions.
The rain-affected track turns this Irish Group 3 winner into a real chance. Three of his four wins have come on soft ground. He was outclassed in the Caulfield Cup on a good track first up in Australia, but second up, dropping in grade and on his preferred ground, he can run much better.

The Sporting Globe After The Last - MCC Series Heat 8 (Bm78)
His Listed Guineas second over this track and distance, and his placings in Open three-year-old races on heavy ground, are better than anything else in this field. On paper the wet ground, the expected fast pace and a track where horses from back in the field win often all suit him.
Second up suits him and so does the step up from 1100m to 1400m. The worry is his on-pace style when several horses want to lead and the track has suited runners from behind. His overall class still makes him the main danger.
A proven soft-ground horse who placed several times in stronger grades last preparation. He returned with an honest fifth at Seymour on similar ground and should come on for the run. His midfield run should get him a good trail behind a strong pace.
A genuine wet-track mare whose soft and heavy form at this level is as good as anything here. That looks overdone because she places regularly when fresh.
