The only runner in genuine winning form. Team Happy has won two on end, and his Sha Tin success from an awkward start, charging forward to lead before the home turn, was the best run anyone here has produced recently. He is a confirmed winner against a field of maidens and seconds, and his forward style fits an on-speed track.

Wa Mei Shan Hcp (C5)
He deserves to be a leading chance and is retained in the top three.
A consistent Class 5 performer whose last two runs read worse than they were. His 1600m ninth last month was run at close to a winning standard, and he has a win and a second from eight tries at this track and distance. The drop from 61kg to 57kg is significant. The problem is race pattern: he settled last at this trip last start and Sha Tin punishes get-back runners. If Chau can position him in the first half from barrier 6 he is a strong place chance and a possible winner.
A genuine Sha Tin 1650m specialist on the dirt who is being overlooked after two plain turf-affected runs. Go Go Go won over this course and distance leading all the way in March, has two wins and two placings from 14 attempts here, and gets in with 53.5kg. The lack of a natural leader gives Bentley the chance to roll forward from barrier 9 and control a moderate tempo.

Wa Mei Shan Hcp (C5)
He Was Me brings the best recent form in the race, with two strong thirds at this level that measured up as winning-standard efforts. He is the quickest beginner and maps to control a moderately run race on a circuit where on-pace runners dominate.
Those are genuine credentials, which is why he holds a place in the top three.
Winning Diamond has turned a corner since the blinkers went on, finishing strongly at Sha Tin and then running second over this trip at Happy Valley from a handy position. The inside draw and 54kg give him every chance to sit in the first four, which is where winners come from on this circuit.
He is the only horse here that has actually won on the all-weather track, and when he raced handy at this class in July he ran two placings at a winning standard. His last two runs were bad, one with a bleeding issue, and the wide draw hurts, but he has trialled since and maps to be forward.

The negatives are a wide gate and his get-back pattern at a track that rewards being handy, but two likely leaders should ensure a solid tempo.
Colourful Winner maps to be right in the firing line with a light weight, a sound barrier and an in-form rider, and his recent races over 1400m stack up well against this field. The two worries are that he has never been on the dirt and has never won a race, which caps confidence in a grade where winners tend to repeat.
Viva Chaleur is the quiet improver in the race, having run a time last start that would have won most races at this level despite only finishing seventh in a blistering affair. He has been a model of consistency in Class 5 sprints here and races on the pace, which suits the track. Each-way value given his placing record.

Yoda's Choice is a genuine dirt horse who led and was beaten a whisker in this grade over this course in April, then won over 1800m at Sha Tin a month later. He maps to control the race from barrier 5 with a light weight on a circuit where leaders dominate.
Firefoot's form is rock solid and he beat Bull Attitude home last start from a similar handy position, with barrier 1 again putting him in the right spot. He is also untested on the dirt.
The class dropper with the strongest dirt credentials in the race. Turin Mascot has won two of four on synthetic tracks, has an excellent record second up, and his last two Class 3 runs were good enough to win this. The concern is his racing pattern, as he gets back and the track strongly favours horses on the speed, and the stable is out of form.
Storm Runner has a strong 1800m record, races in a forward position that suits the track profile, and the stable has prepared him with two trials for a jockey who wins at a high rate for this yard.

The form horse of the race. Top weight and a get-back style on a track that favours on-pace runners are real concerns, but he overcame exactly those issues a fortnight ago.
Leading Dragon brings the most important asset on this circuit: he should lead from an inside draw and dictate a moderate tempo. He has already won this grade at Sha Tin over this trip doing just that, with the same rider back and the gear changed back to his successful setup after a disappointing run in visors.

Tin Ha Shan Hcp (C4)
Night Purosangue has won three of twelve starts over this exact course and distance and both recent wins were genuine winning-standard efforts led from the front. He has never won first-up and his last-start fade fits that history. From barrier 1 as the probable lone leader on a track where winners are almost always in the first three on the turn, he gets his ideal setup.
His nose-defeat third last start was strong, running home from tenth, and he has a dirt win at Sha Tin to his name. The problem is the profile: a seven-year-old with four wins from thirty-eight starts, top weight of 61kg, a backmarking style on a track where winners sit forward, and a stable and rider both out of form. Preferred as a place proposition only.
The improver of the race. He steps to 1650m on the dirt for the first time, which are real question marks, but his pedigree and racing pattern suggest he will handle both.
An honest each-way value play. Family Knight is at his best on synthetic surfaces, where he has a win and a third from three starts, and he carries just 50kg with a sharp apprentice who has been winning at Sha Tin. He raced forward last start and from barrier 5 can hold a handy spot, which is what this track demands.

He gets in light after the claim, his trainer is in form and the jockey knows him well.
Mega Captain has the second-best recent form in the race, running to a winning standard last start under top weight at this track and distance. He is lightly raced and improving, but he tends to settle midfield, which is not the ideal pattern on this on-speed dirt track, and the stable's strike rate is modest.
Honest Witness is the leader most likely to control this race, and the track profile says that matters most. He drops back to Class 4 after a creditable leading effort in a stronger race, and gets in with a light weight after the claim.
Good Chap is the only runner here who has actually won on this dirt surface, and that win was the best dirt run in the field. He is fit after a strong closing effort last start, is ridden by a jockey who has won twice on him, and comes from a stable in sharp form.

His last three runs have all been to a Class 3 winning level and he was only just denied under topweight last start. Barrier 1 is ideal on a track where position before the turn is decisive.
The best dirt horse in the race on known form. His March third on this surface was from well back and his April fourth on the track was also to a winning level. He returns to Class 3 after being outclassed first up, has won a trial since, and the fast tempo should play into his strong finish. Weight and draw are the concerns, so each-way is the play.
Barrier 3 lets him sit handy, and he showed last start he can sit third and still run well.
He will be handy from barrier 6 and his last run was his best for months.

He won this precise race on the dirt in March from a handy position and his turf runs since have been right up to Class 3 winning standard. The wide gate is the main risk but he overcame a similar draw last start.
Top Dragon is a quality horse for this grade, having run in the Derby and Classic Mile and been beaten a nose in Class 2 over a mile. The 61kg top weight and lack of any dirt experience stop him from being the first pick, but his second-up record is strong, the rail draw helps and his last run had genuine excuses.
He has won over this track and distance and tends to settle in the first half of the field.
Pray For Justice is the value play because he should control the race. He is the only confirmed leader with a light weight, and on a track where most winners are in the first three on the turn that is a major edge. His June second over this course and distance was a genuine winning-standard run.
