Her Balaklava debut on soft ground was a genuine on-speed second, and she has trialled since the spell. She maps to lead, which fits a moderate 1000m tempo, and her first-up record already includes that placing.

Norma & Bushman's Tanks Mdn Plate
Mr Kimble is the logical second pick on course form. He has already placed at Murray Bridge, including a soft second over this 1000m, and another soft run here was only just over a length from the winner. Todd Pannell from barrier 2 is a clear intent signal.
Champagne Ladies brings natural speed, a light weight and barrier 4 into a moderate maiden. She placed first-up on heavy ground when she led at Moe, and she has won a recent jump-out on rain-affected going. She has also emptied out when the pressure came, and she has never raced on soft.
Out Ontario is a nine-start maiden with a 9:0-0-0 record, so she stays out of the top three. The case is the drop out of a fillies and mares handicap and a recent Balaklava fourth, beaten under two lengths after leading. She has not handled soft in four tries and the booking is ordinary.

Coonara Mdn Plate
Empire Ruler is the most likely winner on form. He has finished second or third at five straight, including seconds on soft at Gawler and Strathalbyn, and he has never missed the placings on rain-affected ground. Callow sticks with him.
Nunya is the map horse. She is the only leader and a quiet tempo lets her dictate, which matters in a midweek maiden. She was only narrowly beaten in front at Halidon and the stable is going well. The query is real: her sole soft start, at this course, ended with her weakening after leading, she has never been to 1800m, and she has never raced second-up.
Swan Dance brings the best place record in the race and a useful drop back to maiden grade. She has already run to a second at this trip on heavy going and maps to sit just off the lone leader. The break is the catch: 105 days, a mixed trial, and a rider who has been quiet.
She has been making ground from the back at her last few without winning, the stable is in form, and she is the lightest horse in the race once the claim is counted. A slow pace and an unproven soft record stop her being a top selection, and she still needs the leaders to come back to her.

Team Poly Tanks Mdn Plate
In two starts she has run third then second in maiden plates, both times up to a winning standard, settling handy and finishing honestly. She gets 54kg and Rochelle Milnes sticks. She is still the most likely winner of a moderate-tempo maiden.
Never Pegasus was run down late at Penola over today's trip on soft ground, beaten a head after taking over in the straight. That followed solid efforts through his first month of racing, including a game third here when caught wide from a wide gate. Barrier 4 is a cleaner draw than most of the on-pace types. The hole in the case is practical: no rider is booked and the stable has been quiet. He is a genuine place chance.
Shogun Chikara's only start was a neck second in a Gawler maiden on soft ground, sitting on the pace after a hampered beginning and still battling while racing green. He is the quickest beginner in a race with an open lead, which is the right profile for a moderate-tempo maiden. Barrier 13 and a rail out the entire circuit ask him to use petrol early. The stable and rider are a plus.
Ashen Glow is the overlay. He is mapped to lead, which suits a moderate tempo, and the claim helps. That is longer than his chance of controlling this.

Davey Water Hcp (C2)
Rocktagon is the form horse in a moderate-tempo Class 2. His last three runs have been honest on rain-affected and good ground, headed by a close fifth at Strathalbyn, and barrier 3 gives him the chance to sit forward. Grace and the stable are cold, and 1400m is lightly tried.
Murtagh's recent strike rate helps. He can still finish in the first few if he uses his early speed.
Lunarshot is the wet-tracker on an upward run. She has a heavy-track win, a soft second at Bordertown when she loomed, and last start she closed from last into fourth on soft at Penola. She has also won at Murray Bridge. Barrier 5 is fine, yet she gives away ground and a moderate pace makes that harder. Milnes is acceptable.
Togetherforever is the overlay. Both of her wins have come on soft, where she also has a third from eight starts, and she places regularly at Murray Bridge. A three-kilogram claim puts her on 51kg and the map has her on the pace, which fits a moderate 1400m. A fourth at Balaklava a fortnight ago shows she is ready for this grade.

Vinidex & Philmac Hcp (60)
Nicaloha is the form pick because he won over this trip on Soft 5 three weeks ago, leading and putting the field away. Five soft starts have produced a win and two thirds, and he maps for a clean midfield run. The rise out of a maiden with 60kg is the risk.
Aloha Blue is the proven wet horse in the race. She has won on soft and placed on heavy, including a heavy second at Murray Bridge, and Holder has already won twice on her. She has the class to handle a restricted race and recent meetings have favoured horses finishing from off the pace.
Zestiman brings the right jockey, a handy barrier and a strong Balaklava third under this weight, and he lined up again on soft only four days ago. That keeps him among the winning chances in a moderate tempo. He is the third pick for the minors rather than the win.
Brazen Queen is the overlay. She placed in a stronger race on soft last start and earlier broke her maiden on the same going over 1200m, with a soft record of one win and two seconds from five. Barrier four lets her settle midfield away from the weak wide draws.

DAB Pumps (Bm58)
Frontpoint is the form horse. He beat this class on rain-affected ground two back and then ran a close fourth in the same race Flying Ace and Refreshing contested last week. The inside-midfield pattern and a light weight suit a fast 1400m, and he already knows Murray Bridge.
Immortal Spirit has been the most reliable horse in the race, controlling and either winning or just missing at this level. Four wins from 11 at 1400m and a soft barrier let him roll forward again, with Munro's claim a help.
He is third rather than the top pick because Frontpoint beat him home last week on the same going and Immortal Spirit has been winning at this class.
Three soft wins from eight starts stand out on a Soft 5, and barrier 1 lets her use her early speed without covering extra ground. She is second-up, so the first-up fade can be treated as a pipe-opener, though her second-up record is only one placing from five.

Orange Pumps & AAP Industries (Bm56)
Eclair Vitality is the form horse. He won a BM62 at Jamestown three starts into this campaign and, before that, went down by a nose on soft at this level after racing handy. Three of his nine 1000m starts have been wins, and Munro's claim leaves him well in at the weights. Barrier 9 is the main risk.
Super Choice gets the race run to suit him. He is the only natural leader in a moderate 1000m, and his Gawler run three weeks ago was good enough to win a race of this class after he was hampered. He has also placed on soft in Class 2 company. The query is whether he can quicken after dictating: he has stopped when the lead became a chase, he is still a non-winner on soft, and 61.5kg is a big ask.
Old Time Rock fits the wet sprint. He has four soft-track wins and scored on Soft 5 two starts ago after racing on the speed. Callow can put him in the first four from barrier 3, which is the right place if Super Choice only runs a moderate tempo. The Ballarat run last start was plain at this class, he has never won at the track, and 61kg on a nine-year-old is a load.
