She is the only genuine leader in a race likely to be slow, drops in class and has been running big races in stronger company. She often finishes second, which is the risk, but the map and light weight give her the best path to the line.

Last start he hit the front and was first over the line before being relegated to third, a run that stands out in this field. He should sit handy behind the leader in what looks a slow-run race and handles soft going.
A genuine contender on recent form, with three placings in her last four and a strong finish on heavy ground last start. The concern is the map: she is likely to be well back in a slow race on a track where backmarkers struggle.

Great Northern Hcp (C3)
Makamae looks the most likely winner on form. She is the only genuine leader in a race forecast to be slowly run and should dictate terms on a track that favours horses near the speed. Her recent runs have been of a winning standard, she is a proven wet-track performer and she gets a weight concession. Stable form is a worry but the map and class credentials stand out.
Backhander is in top form having won over 2200m at Dubbo and finished second in the lead-up. She should settle on the speed and can sit just behind Makamae with a good ride. Carrying 60kg from a wide gate and on soft ground is the question, but the on-pace profile and the jockey's Ipswich record keep her firmly in the picture.
She has run well at Ipswich, is placed regularly and handles wet ground, but she is climbing sharply in weight, her stable is cold and she has only two wins from seventeen starts.
Disgruntled is in consistent form, gets a run in the middle of the field and is a stable runner in good order. She has won over staying trips and has been finishing strongly in recent races.

Allclass Kubota Mdn Hcp
He's race-fit, drawn to lob just off what should be a genuine tempo, and the stable is going well.
The likely leader and the horse to catch. He owns genuine city-class form, has been placed on soft ground and has been readied with a couple of trials, so the long absence is less worrying than it reads on paper. The concern is that he's had plenty of chances without winning and often gets run down late — if the pace is hot he could set it up for the closers.
The worry is the map: he gets back and this track punishes get-back runners. He's good enough to be in the finish but will need the race to fall his way.
A lightly raced Waller filly who should be sharper second-up after a solid placing last time. She maps to sit just off the speed from a good gate, which is exactly where you want to be at this track.

Cruice Creations Hcp (C1)
He is the form horse of the race. Last start at Eagle Farm he led and put his maiden field away by nearly four lengths, and it was the quickest performance of anything engaged here. He has won on soft ground, is unbeaten first-up with a second-up placing, and his natural speed should have him handy in a race where leaders and on-pacers dominate over this trip at Ipswich. A wide gate and 59kg are the concerns, but he is the most likely winner.
She brings the best form reference here, having run third in a stronger Doomben handicap last start when she sat off the pace and kept finding to the line. Dropping back to Class 1 company is a clear plus, and from a good gate she should land the perfect stalking position in a moderate-tempo sprint. The knock is her soft-track record and a habit of peaking on her run, but on class she is the obvious second pick.
Lightly raced three-year-old who won well at the Gold Coast last time, coming from midfield and hitting the line hard over 1000m. He improves second-up, gets in with only 55kg and has an inside gate. The concern is the step up from maiden company and a style that may leave him chasing around a tight track where horses off the pace struggle. He is the one most likely to break through from behind the leading group.
Unbeaten from a single start, where he sat outside the leader over 860m on soft ground and raced right away to score by nearly five lengths. He must now stretch to 1100m from a wide gate on a tight circuit, and that Gatton maiden form has not been tested. Promising type with real upside, but this is a far tougher assignment at start two.
He is the value runner. Last start on a Soft 7 at Class 1 level he led, was headed only late and comfortably beat the rest, and he has already won over this course and distance. He maps to be in the leading pair, which is exactly where you want to be in a sprint here.

The Don Moore Memorial Race (Bm58)
She is a proven soft-track winner, ran a good second last start in a stronger grade, and drops to BM58 with a strong jockey and trainer combination. A midfield-to-back run is the only concern at a track that favours handy runners, but she should be racing within striking range.
A recent BM58 winner on soft ground who can settle handy, which suits Ipswich. His best runs are as good as anything here. The risk is the poor effort in his last visit to Ipswich over this trip and a cold stable.
A genuine early-speed type who won a BM58 last month and gets the weight benefit of an apprentice's claim. Handy runners are favoured at Ipswich in sprints, but the wide barrier could force a tougher trip. His record on soft ground is a concern, though he has won on heavy.
A course-and-distance winner who has been solid at Ipswich, finishing third there last start after a tough run. He is proven over 1350m and has won on soft ground.

The Springfield Mo Men Fundraiser Hcp (C2)
The most reliable chance on form. He has won over this trip, handled soft ground and is ridden by a jockey who has won on him twice. Barrelling can follow the speed and finish the job.
A tough mare who nearly always runs into a place and has handled wet ground. She should settle in the first half of the field from a good gate and gets a drop in class.
A stable and jockey combination that wins at a strong rate, and she has already won on a heavy surface over this trip. She is fit from a winning trial and should be handy from barrier 8. Facing a step up in class first-up keeps her out of the top spot, but she has the profile to run well.
The overlay of the field. His run at the Sunshine Coast last start on a heavy track was close to a winning standard, and his soft-track record is the best in the race. If the pace is as hot as expected, he can run on late from the back.

Mumma Jean Is 80 Hcp (C1)
Hard-fit on-pacer who has placed at both runs this preparation, the latest a two-length second in a Class 1 on soft ground where he tracked the leaders and kept giving. From the inside gate he should land in the first couple without doing much work, and he is ridden by a jockey who knows him well. The query is the fast tempo up front and whether he can still be strong at the mile.
The most progressive horse in the field. He broke through at Toowoomba two runs back and then went within a whisker over the mile trip on soft ground, running on strongly from just off the pace. The knock is that he gets back in a race with a short home straight, but the speed on up front should help him wind up.
The one to beat. She dropped into a stronger grade over this track and trip last start and ran a brave second after being blocked at the top of the straight, and the run before that she was beaten a whisker at Grafton on soft ground. She settles just behind the speed, handles the wet and gets weight relief from the claim. Only one win to her name, but she finds the line consistently and this is an ordinary Class 1.
Has the best form lines in the race — beaten under a length over this trip at Ipswich last start after being held up, and placed both times he has raced here at the mile. He drops out of a higher-grade race into this company.
An improving mare who should have finished closer last start when fourth in a Class 1 over 1600m after being chopped out at the top of the straight. Two runs back she came from well back to break her maiden nicely, and she has been kept ticking over since.
