The form horse of the race. Two wins and a closing second from his last four, all around Wagga, and his latest fifth over 2000m here had merit after he was shuffled back and forced wide. He is a get-back stayer in a race where the on-pace brigade has struggled at recent meetings, and the Gorrel yard is going well. Up in grade and new to 2500m, but he is the one they have to beat.

Andersens Flooring Mountaineer Cup (Bm74)
The class runner. He has been mixing it at Rosehill in stronger staying races, including a close-up fourth over 2400m on good ground when caught four wide, and that reads best in this field. But he has managed only three wins from 31, gives away a start in a race that may be slowly run, and the Bateup stable is having a lean trot.
He is the one likely to lead and he owns a win over this trip at this track. The knock is obvious: he has never won on a good track and has found less when challenged, so the lead has to come cheaply.
A lightly raced five-year-old who chased Sorry Sunshine home over 1800m at Wagga Riverside two starts back, beaten just over a length, and that is a strong pointer into this race. He draws softly, should sit handy behind what looks a modest tempo, and only has to reproduce that run to be in the finish.

Junee Prime Lamb Country Boosted Mdn Plate
The only true front-runner in a race expected to be run at a moderate tempo. She led all the way last start and was only just beaten over 1400m on Good, and she has run well at Wagga before. Her recent runs stack up as the most consistent in the field, and the draw lets her cross and dictate.
Her form at Wagga over 1400m is the best in the race on paper, finishing second three times by narrow margins. A recent trial run shows she is ready and the draw and on-pace style suit. The long break and the habit of finding one better are the concerns, but she looms as a major threat.
However, she settles near the back, which is a hurdle in a moderate tempo, and her recent form is moderate.
A forward-running mare coming off a close second who suits the way this race should be run. The wide gate and unknown Good-track form are risks, but her recent form is improving and she is clearly overpriced relative to her chance, making her the each-way value.

Southern Cross Austereo Plate (C1)
Masakari won comfortably at Wagga over this 1600m last start and ran to a winning standard. The map suits too, with a lone leader and a moderate tempo giving a midfield runner an economical trip.
Bottas won over this course and distance in February and was sound on resuming at Bendigo, so he has a clear chance second up. He will be well back and a moderate tempo with a lone leader makes that trip harder.
She has been competitive but without winning since, sitting handy each time. She gets a favourable on-pace map at a light weight.
Scorched Lane gets the one clear lead in a moderately run race, the best map in the field. He fades late, carries top weight and his record with this trainer at Wagga is poor.

He has run to a standard few in this maiden field can match, placed over this trip, and came through a winning jump-out last week. He should settle midfield behind a genuinely fast tempo and finish strongly.
A quality debut, narrowly beaten after leading throughout. She has the speed to cross from a wide gate, and the booking of Boudvillain suggests intent. The draw and the fast pace expected are the major concerns, and the stable is out of form. She still rates a clear place chance.
With a better beginning she should settle just off a fast pace from a favourable barrier, and she carries a light weight. Improvement is likely second-up.
The Major was tough in running second last start, racing wide without cover and being beaten only a few lengths. A fair each-way chance.

Riverina Crane Services Hcp (C1) Heat Of The Rising Star
Improving young horse who won his latest start with a strong late burst. He steps up in grade and distance, but the fast tempo should suit his closing style and he remains lightly raced with upside.
Won her only start over this trip, but that win came leading on soft ground. Today she is likely to be the pacesetter in a fast-run sprint, and Wagga's profile points to horses settling just off the speed.
She won her only start with a strong sweeping run, and the map suggests she can settle in the midfield band that suits Wagga sprinters. The concerns are the sharp class rise, wide gate and lack of exposed form, but her upside is the highest in the race. Justified top pick.
Consistent mare who rarely runs a bad race and drops in class from stronger mares company. She has placed multiple times at Wagga and recently ran on well here.

Elders Country Boosted Bragger Cup (Bm50)
Won a BM50 at Wagga Riverside two starts back, running past Cinephile and Rasloc, then hit the line fairly in a stronger BM58 over this trip. He drops out of a Showcase Open at Dubbo into this grade, draws gate two, and both his trainer and rider are going at 20 per cent.
Gate four, a 28 per cent jockey-trainer combination and only five starts of upside all help.
Produced the best class reference in the race last start, finishing third in a BM66 over 2000m here after being held up at the 200m and charging late. He drops sharply to a BM50 and his stable and rider are both firing at Wagga. The negatives are real: barrier 11, a get-back pattern, and 16 good-track starts without a win. Suited to a place rather than a win.
Ran the best mile of anything in this field two starts back at Nowra, beaten under two lengths after settling last and having to wait for a run, and he closed off strongly again last start over this trip. He gets back, the right pattern at Wagga where leaders have struggled.

Coorparoo Park Stan Sadleir Stakes
She should settle just behind the leader in the 4-6 spot that suits Wagga sprints, and is proven on Good ground. The wide draw and two late fades are the concerns, but the form case is the strongest in the race.
A genuine Open-class winner at 1400m who finished off strongly at Wagga last start while carrying a big weight. The best of the closers.
She has a good strike rate with her regular jockey and won an Open handicap earlier in the year from a handy position.

Raising Hope With Steph (Bm66)
The form horse of the race. He won this grade and trip at Wagga two starts back and was desperately unlucky last time when held up before charging late to go down narrowly, beating the same rivals he meets again today. He does concede a start every time, which is the risk at 1000m, but his finish here has been too sharp for these twice.
The most reliable sprinter in the race around this circuit. He settles fourth or fifth, the spot from which Wagga sprint winners historically come, so the race shape suits.
A lightly raced mare with a bit of upside who resumes second up after a solid closing second at Albury. She has the early speed to sit fourth or fifth, which is where winners around here come from, and her best form is genuinely good enough for this grade.
She produced the strongest sprint of anyone in this race when she came from well back to win here last preparation, and she now drops in grade from tougher company. Last start she was dragged back from a wide gate and never got involved, so that run can be forgiven.
