The most reliable on-pace type in a race lacking a strong leader. She has shown speed and a gritty attitude, is fitter second-up, and handles soft ground. The wide gate is a worry but she should find a handy spot.

Her last start on soft ground at Tamworth was a very good run for a maiden, only just failing after leading. Barrier four helps and she can be ridden handier than the map suggests.
The good draw and rider keep him in the frame, but he is not a standout winning chance.
The map points to a lone leader in a moderate-tempo sprint, and she is the one most likely to cross.

She has won twice on soft ground, rarely runs worse than a place, and drops in class after a city campaign. Looker knows the track and she should find a handy midfield position in a slow tempo.
A genuine soft-track performer who has won over this trip and runs home well. Lou Mary's stable is in form. The concern is the map: a slow tempo and a tendency to settle at the back make her reliant on a genuine finishing sprint.
A consistent type who has been running solidly in city grade and should find this easier. He rarely wins, though, and being short of early speed in a slow tempo is a handicap.
Her Armidale win was the standout run in this field and she has a Moree win to her name. Stable and jockey are in good touch here.

Has been knocking on the door all preparation with four seconds and five thirds, and her latest Tamworth third over this trip on soft ground was the strongest staying-on effort in the field. She maps to settle handy without having to lead and Ben Looker is riding with real confidence.
Produced a clear step forward at Tamworth last time when he dashed to the front 200m out on a soft track and was only collared late. The rise to 1200m looks ideal and from gate four he can track the speed without doing the work. Eight starts without a win is the knock, but he is improving at the right time and this is not a strong maiden.
Was beaten a neck at Narromine last start after being checked at a vital stage, and that followed a solid placing over this distance. He is second-up now, maps to settle just behind the speed from a good gate, and has shown enough on rain-affected going to be competitive. The query is whether he can lift when the pressure comes on, as he faded badly the last time he ran 1200m.
Gets in with just 53kg after the claim, which is a significant edge in a race where the topweights have had plenty of chances. Her second on a heavy track two starts back showed she handles the wet, and last start she was only beaten a little over a length after doing the early work.

He steps up to 1400m today, which should suit on pedigree, and comes from a stable with a strong record. The soft track is an unknown, but his class and connections make him the one to beat.
Dekka's Latest continued his improvement with a solid third at Muswellbrook last time, leading and fighting on. He is second-up today and should be fitter, and the step to 1400m looks suitable. The concern is that he was headed after leading, but if he settles midfield he can be effective.
Mega Missile produced a terrific debut run to finish second on soft ground at Narromine, showing plenty of promise. He settled handy and ran on strongly, suggesting the step to 1400m will suit. While his connections are less fashionable, his form is the strongest in the race and he looks a serious contender.
Cool Thoughts is a mare with limited winning form, but her last start was a much-improved third on soft ground over 1400m, finishing close to the winner.

Squires Constructions Country Boosted (Bm58)
She has the best recent runs in the field and the only reliable early speed, and she drops in grade. She led and tired late last start, so she is not a certainty, but a soft 6 track and a moderate tempo should suit her.
A proven wet-track performer who won at Bm66 on Soft 6 and ran well at this grade last start.
He can run a place but is poor value to win.
A tough, consistent mare who has run well in stronger company and now drops into a Bm58. She has won at Moree, including over 1400m, and her late run has been among the better ones in this field. Jockey is unconfirmed, a small risk.
He ran a solid third at this grade on soft last start and won a C1 Plate before that. He should settle just off the speed with cover, and a drying track suits.

Moree Aluminium & Glass (Bm66)
Panta Rhei is the clear form pick. She has the best soft-ground record in the field, ran to a high standard when winning at Scone and has been competitive against better company. She should race handy from the rail in a moderate tempo and the class drop suits.
He's My Warrior is a reliable sort who is dropping in class and has strong form at 1200m. He was narrowly beaten at this grade at Mendooran and ran a brave third last start. The softer track is a concern as he has not won in the wet, but he has been placed often and should be in the finish.
Orsum drops in class and has a sound 1200m and soft-track record. His second at Scone and Dubbo placing show he is capable at this level, though his last start was flat after leading.
Winged looks overpriced for a runner with a Moree win to his name and a stable that is in sparkling form. He steps up in class but the jockey and trainer combination at the track is strong.

PWD Plumbing & Heffernan Electrical Hcp (C1)
The class runner of the field at this level. His second over this trip at Moree in the autumn was the best run any of these has produced in a Class 1, and he did it with more weight than he carries today. He has never missed a place in four soft-track starts and lands in the box seat behind a moderate tempo.
The horse to beat. He came from well back and won with something in hand on soft ground at Tamworth, the strongest last-start display in the field. Barrier two should see him settle closer than the map suggests and the extra trip suits.
Has the best single effort in the field, his Newcastle maiden win, and has since been thrown in the deep end at Hawkesbury. The negatives are the 61.5kg top weight, a get-back style that needs the race to fall his way, and a plain run at his only Class 1 attempt. A place is the sensible target.
Penciller has been honest without winning since breaking through, and his first-up effort over 1000m had merit. He should strip fitter second-up and maps to sit just behind a moderate tempo, which is an advantage at Moree. He has placed on rain-affected ground and his recent rider form is strong. The 1300m is a query, but his racing style suggests he can handle it.
The value runner. He gets in with the lightest weight in the race, his only win came over this trip when he sustained a long run, and he was brave last start on heavy ground after knuckling at the start.

Denman Bandit is the best form chance on the way he races. He is an on-pace sprinter with a 2-win record from 6 at the trip. He has run well on soft ground, including a near win under top weight. He should get a handy trip in a moderate-tempo race.
The doubts are her unproven record on soft ground and a step up in class. Her barrier 2 draw is also not ideal.
Peregrina Pearl is the likely leader with an open lead in a moderate-tempo race, and she has won her last two from the front. Her trainer has a good record at Moree. Soft ground is a question, and she is rising in class from a thin form base.
Soobooco is a consistent class horse who has won at this level recently and has strong wet-track form. Top weight and a wide gate are real drawbacks, but his consistency makes him a sound each-way chance in a race with no outstanding runner.
