Five-start maiden but the most reliable on-pace horse in the race, placed at four of five outings and right up to the winning mark when third over 1400m at Hamilton last start. He should lead or sit handy, and Coleraine strongly rewards that style. Untested on a good track and drawn a touch wide in nine, but the visors go on and he'll take some running down.

Both career runs were competitive and he maps to settle right on the speed, which is what this track demands. The knocks are a first try at 1400m, a six-week break and a wide gate in 13, so he is second pick rather than top.
He's had 16 goes without winning but is clearly improving and this is his best setup in a long time — second-up, a good gate in five, and a track-and-trip placing already on his record. His last-start third at Casterton over 1400m was the strongest recent run in this field. The knock is a stable that has struggled for winners, so he's more place than win.
His second over 1400m at Mt Gambier was the best run any horse in this race has produced at the trip, beaten a whisker, and he has four seconds and two thirds from 18 starts. Recent form tailed off badly, but he's second-up, draws nicely in three and this is a plain maiden. Worth a small each-way ticket.

The likely leader from a good gate, which is exactly what Coleraine rewards over a mile. Wilde's strike rate here is outstanding and she ran second over this course and distance in July. She was disappointing last start when she failed to find the front, but if she leads on her terms she is the one they have to run down.
Her concern is that she does her best work from off the pace, and Coleraine has favoured those on the speed, so she will need the leaders to come back to her.
An unexposed four-year-old who should park right behind the speed, the position this track rewards. His one race start was fair and he has trialled well since, while the Freedman/Allen combination is a positive. Whether he stays the mile first-up is the query, but he has the map to run well.
A maiden with 17 starts is rarely attractive, but he produced the best run of any horse here when charging home for second last start, and he has placed twice over this trip on soft ground.

Gets the ideal setup for this track. From barrier one he has the speed to lead or sit handy, and Coleraine strongly favours on-pace runners drawn low. His form is on the up, a close third over 1450m at this grade last start, and he has won at the mile while handling good and soft ground. The Rawiller/Cannon combination strikes at a good rate.
The class runner, dropping out of BM66 company where he ran a close third at Geelong. Well drawn to get a soft run just off the speed and rarely far away.
Brings the best recent form of the fringe runners — a narrow second over the mile at Donald then a solid fourth at Casterton, both at this grade. Lightly weighted, improving and suited by the trip. The knock is the map: he can settle back and wide draws are a clear negative at Coleraine, so he'll need luck to get into the race.
The value play. She has been finishing on well against better-grade opposition and handles soft ground.

Clearly the form horse. She won over this trip at Donald last start and had finished second at 1000m in her two runs before that, going to the line better than anything else in the race. Barrier 3 lets her settle handy without spending petrol, and she stays on strongly.
He gets a class drop, a nice draw in barrier 4 and comes from a stable having a good run, so his chance has to be respected. The knock is that he is a seven-year-old with just four wins from 53 starts and his recent form is plain rather than winning.
Resumes off a break with a class drop, and his fresh record (a win and a placing from two fresh runs) plus a close third at his last outing make him a genuine player at this level. The problems are clear: he must lump 59.5kg top weight and has drawn the outside gate in a fast-run 1000m, with blinkers coming off first time and a jockey going through a quiet patch. Worth including for a placing, but the map makes winning hard.
A 1000m specialist who has won three times at the trip and gets a top jockey in Dean Yendall. She led and was only beaten a few lengths behind the top pick at Donald last start, and from barrier 5 she should be prominent throughout on a track that rewards on-pace runners.

Community Bank Coleraine (Bm56)
The most dependable runner here, placing at his last five including a win and a second over this sort of trip. He drops out of stronger company and maps to settle right on the speed, exactly where you want to be at Coleraine. The knock is that he has never won on a good track, but conditions are expected to soften through the day and he is proven on easier ground. Rates the one to beat.
Slides sharply down in class and lands with a trainer who knows exactly what it takes here. He can race handy, which suits the Coleraine profile, and he handles any going. The concern is recent form, having faded out of his last few staying assignments, so he is one to include for the placings rather than trust to win.
She has been running to a good standard at 2000m against stronger opposition, draws nicely in close and gets in with a light weight.

bet365 Coleraine Cup
The track is softening and that plays right into his hands. Barrier one lets him settle much closer than his usual pattern. Fitter for a recent jump-out.
A natural on-pacer who will be right there in the first three, exactly where this track rewards. He drops a long way in the weights. The negatives are real, though: only three career wins and a sizeable step up in grade.
Won impressively last start and the yard has a phenomenal record at this track. Strong jockey-trainer combination with Linda Meech aboard. He rises in class and is drawn wide, but he settles back and runs on, so the gate matters less. Prefers firmer ground and the track may soften late in the day.
Expected to lead from barrier two, and this track strongly favours front-runners. He has also won two of three on soft ground. Worth a small each-way ticket on the map alone.

Hammonds Paints (Bm66)
Course-and-distance winner here in July, when he led and kicked strongly over 1300m. The inside gate and his natural on-pace pattern suit a venue that rewards handy runners, and two starts back he ran to a winning standard. He rises in class today but drops in weight and looks the hardest to beat.
She finishes her races off well and is reliable. The knock is a middle gate at a track that favours inside, on-pace runners, so she will need luck from midfield.
The concern is the map: top weight and a wide gate mean he settles near last at a track that rewards leaders, so he needs the race to unfold in his favour.
An improving four-year-old mare who has won two of six and gets the inside gate with a leading jockey aboard. She trialled nicely recently and has shown she can lead and win.
