Debutant from the Messara-Gavranich yard who has won both recent trials, including a soft-track hit-out over this trip at Scone. Aaron Bullock takes the ride and combines with the stable at a strong strike rate, while the yard wins regularly at this track. The 59kg is the query, but the intent and form lines are clear.

Kris Lees filly who resumes second-up after a sound second at Hawkesbury over 1000m, where she led at the 400m and stuck on well. Drawn nicely in four and trialled well twice. The risk is a fast tempo if another runner takes her on early.
Scott Singleton filly who ran a good third at Muswellbrook on resumption, settling second and only beaten a length and a bit. She showed promise earlier in the year with a fourth at Armidale and has trialled well at Scone. Drawn out in eight, but that is not a major negative over the Scone short course. Should race handy and is one of the few with genuine recent form.
Improving five-year-old mare who ran the best race of her career last start when third at Tuncurry over 1000m, leading and only going down by two lengths. Her last two runs read better than any other runner's recent form in this field and she maps to sit handy from a good early-speed position.

Clear form pick. Comes off a debut second at Muswellbrook where he ran to the best standard in this line-up, and he's with the stable that dominates Scone maidens and an in-form jockey/trainer combination. He maps to settle handy on a track that rewards on-pace runners. The query is the rise to 1400m from 1000m at just his second start, but class and stable confidence point his way.
Posted a strong-closing second over 1400m at Tamworth last start, is proven at the trip and lands the perfect inside gate for a Scone middle-distance maiden.
Debutante from the Cavanough yard, which wins maidens at Scone at a remarkable rate. She trialled well recently and the stable has a strong record with fresh horses. The knock is the task: first start over 1400m from the outside gate.
The value angle.

The most reliable galloper in the race and the one best credentialed for this grade. He came from midfield to place over this course and distance last start in stronger company, and he has won two of his last four. The query is the map: he begins slowly and looks the backmarker in a field with a lone leader, so he may have to make his run into a slowly-run race.
She ran second at this track two starts back and was far from disgraced leading a much stronger Highway field at Rosehill. The knock is the trip: she has never won at a mile and was beaten a long way in her only attempt.
A last-start mile winner who closed from midfield to score at Moree, and he now gets the services of Aaron Bullock, who combines with this stable at a very healthy rate. He is consistent without being brilliant and is improving with racing. He will settle off the pace, though, which is a worry if the leader is left alone in front.
He settles on the speed, drew inside, and this race shapes as a slowly-run affair with only one other horse wanting the front.

Summer Force is the emerging talent, winning at this track and trip last start by charging home from near last. She has two starts for a win and a second, both here, and drops to 55kg. She is still improving and the stable is firing. The concern is the leap from maiden grade and the fact she will be spotting the leaders a start, so she needs the race to be run to suit. A clear each-way hope.
Force March produced the eye-catching run of the meeting when winning his maiden at Muswellbrook, coming from the tail to score. He has been consistent throughout and looks a progressive four-year-old. However, he steps up in grade and carries top weight of 61kg, giving weight to sharper rivals, and will again be giving away a start. On-pace runners have held the edge here, so he needs the tempo to be honest.
Dunquin brings the strongest recent form into this. He was beaten narrowly at his last two starts in deeper company, including a close second in a Class 2 at Tamworth, and now drops back to Class 1 level. Drawn ideally in gate two with Aaron Bullock aboard and likely to settle handily, he maps perfectly for a track that rewards horses close to the speed. The one query is his modest winning record, but he is the most reliable horse in the race.
Difronzo is the value runner. He has the prized inside gate and enough early speed to lead or sit just off the pace, which is exactly the recipe that works here. His latest effort in stronger company was his best for some time and he is trending the right way this preparation. Worth a small each-way ticket.

A lightly-raced three-year-old from a leading stable who drops sharply in grade after two runs in city juvenile company. He trialled well ahead of this return and gets top jockey Aaron Bullock aboard. Both career runs were on rain-affected going, so he is unproven on a good track and must improve on what he has shown.
A city-raced filly dropping to country maiden company for the first time, which is a big class relief. She ran home okay in a Randwick juvenile event and her stable, which has a perfect record here, only sends this one. She maps to settle just behind midfield and should be finishing strongly. Still a maiden from two starts and she raced keenly when beaten at Canterbury, so she needs to settle better.
The most consistent runner in the field, placing in four of six starts and in all three of her runs at this trip. Her main issue is that she gets back in the run, and Scone sprint races strongly favour horses settled handy, so she will need the race to be run to suit.
A progressive filly who produced the best single run in this field two starts back, closing hard over 1000m at Muswellbrook to finish within two lengths. Yet to place in four starts and was well beaten on heavy ground last time, so she is a gamble on the likely good surface.

Arrowfield (Bm58)
His last-start second at Muswellbrook was the best effort any of these has produced recently - parked second and surged late to be beaten a whisker. He has won at Scone and draws to sit right behind the leaders in a race that rewards on-pace runners. The stable and rider are both cold, which is the obvious query, but the form points him out as the one to beat.
He settles in the handy division which fits a sharp Scone sprint, and his trainer-jockey pairing is going well. The wide gate over 900m is a genuine concern, but he has the upside and consistency to be right in the finish.
A speedy type who should be prominent from a good gate and gets the services of the stable's preferred rider, who knows this track well. He was plain last time when caught three-wide but the run before was a strong maiden win. The step up in grade is the query, yet his early dash gives him every chance to control the race from the front.
A front-runner who has been off the scene for a year but resumes with a good fresh record and looks the natural pace-setter in a race where leaders are clearly advantaged at Scone. The long layoff and her tendency to fade late are real risks, so she is worth an each-way ticket rather than a straight win.

Storm Boy (Bm74)
On recent evidence he is the class runner of this field — he chased the winner down to a whisker at a higher grade last start and all three of his wins have come on good ground. He races right on the speed, exactly what you need at Scone over 1400m, and gate nine is workable.
She settles handy, which suits, and she has already won here.
An in-form on-pacer who led all the way over this trip last start and drops half a stone for the step up in grade. He should land in the first four from gate eight, which is exactly where you want to be at Scone, and his recent form is solid.
A last-start winner over this exact trip who produced the best finishing effort in the race and gets in light at 55kg from a good gate. His profile suggests he can race handier than his reputation implies.

Darley (Bm58)
The form runner of the field. Beaten a whisker at Scone at her last two starts over 1000m and 1200m, the latest when she raced wide without cover and still fought on well. She settles handy, handles the track and arrives in career-best touch. The only knock is a modest strike rate, with five seconds from 12 starts, but she is clearly the one to beat.
Drops back to a winnable grade after a solid second at Dubbo and is well drawn in gate three. Can sit handy and be strong late, though his very best is a rung below the top pick.
A model of consistency, placing in six of his last seven and never far away. The wide gate is the obvious query, but he raced from a similar alley last start and still finished third. One for the placings at least, with the win strike rate a nagging concern.
All Too Sneaky is a track-and-trip winner who drops in class off a strong third at Tamworth, where she ran right up to a winning standard.
Should be able to lead on her own in a race without much early speed, which is a big plus at Scone. She was a solid third at Muswellbrook last time and maps to get the softest run of anyone.
